How to get LP2 to work as of 2/19/2025
By Bigfluffypony
If you are trying to get LP2 to start after you click either directX's and it isnt working, this may help. There is no need to change any settings on your computer (like CPU cores) so it is very easy. ***NEW DISCORD LINK FOR HELP AND PEOPLE TO PLAY WITH https://discord.gg/GRhrTV2zHf ***

All the steps
1. Normally the problem isnt with your computer, but with the games for windows marketplace. If you have tried to install it on your computer and it says that the download failed, try using this link. It worked for me 1st try. Click here[community.pcgamingwiki.com]. ( make sure you dont click to download one of the ads that pop up).

2. when you have successfully downloaded this games for windows live, only sign into it if you have a hotmail account. if you do not(meaning you use gmail or some other) you do not have to worry about signing in yet and can close GFWL.

3. you should now be able to successfully launch the game and choose whichever directX you want without the game crashing. Once you are in the game, change the pc settings to whatever you want and then click the play game at the top.

4. it will now ask you to either sign in or make a new GFWL account. if you have an existing one (gmail or other) this is when you want to sign in. to be able to put in your password, you must uncheck the remember password, then you can recheck it once you have entered the password. DO NOT EXIT THE GAME IF YOU THINK THAT YOUR GFWL IS BROKEN JUST BECAUSE IT TAKES SO LONG TO LOAD YOUR PROFILE!!!! yes it takes a while so just let it do its thing.

5. next it will ask for your steam code, which you should put in. the rest from there is pretty simple. make sure you exit the game to update GFWL when it tells you to.

6. (this is only for people with preexisting non hotmail accounts who want to keep their game progress) when it prompts you to whether you want to save game data or not, CLICK NO!!!! if you click yes then your previous data is gone and you have to restart the game from the beginning( I learned the hard way).

7. If you have done all of this and your game still crashes at startup, it may be due to you having more cores than it requires. There is a possible fix to this though, without manually disabling the cores. https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/2365-too-many-cores-crash-fix-lost-planet-2/
This website has a file you can download and put into the game files on your computer. it says exactly how to do it, and the file has been scanned by my norton and it is perfectly safe. It basically disables the extra cores you might have IN GAME AND NOT ON YOUR ENTIRE COMPUTER! This way you can play the game with 6 cores, and still have however many cores you normally have for the rest of your computer. It's worth checking out.

8. If you have any questions or something isnt working like it should, steam friend me and ill try my best to help.

Everything works fine. The problem is in GFWL. After entering the login, password and activation key, it tells me that the key has already been activated in another account. At that old moment, I could have created another LIVE account, but I have no access to it. And they don’t give me a new activation key. Of course, I can play like that, but I have to start from episode 000 every time... And to complete the game the first time, I have to spend a lot, a lot of time. Is there a way to solve this problem? Or can the game be saved locally even without an account after so many years? This simply never happened before.

Still works 2025, if you have ever played before try looking for your save file as no matter what option you choose GFWL doesn't pull your save from the "cloud" anymore. I managed to find a copy of my save in One Drive of all places the only time that POS has been useful , saved me from faffing about with an old pc backup, so I didn't have to start over.

After you've downloaded your profile it's as easy as dropping your old save file into the folder and making sure there isn't any other saves in there. If done right it won't even prompt you to make a new save.

Found it under Users/ username /documents/capcom/lostplanet2/ gamertagfolder

You should be able to sign into your account, but there will be no saved game data. GFWL no longer has a server for data storage so any progress you make is saved to your local machine, and if you delete the game or switch computers the data will be lost.
