Star Wars: Dark Forces - Demo Version Installation

In this Guide, I will show you how to install the Demo Versions of Star Wars: Dark Forces & show you how to order the Retail Version.

This Guide contains both Versions 1 & 2 of the Dark Forces Demo Version.

1. Steam DosBox Configuration

[sdl]

[cpu]
cycles=20000 or auto/max

[autoexec]
mount c "game"

All you need to do is enter DARK to play and use this setting when Custom installing games into the same directory as Dark Forces.

When playing another DOS Game installed into the same directory as Dark Forces, you may want to exit dark forces before doing so.

2-1. Full Demo Installation - Version 1

Want to play Star Wars: Dark Forces the Demo Version Version 1 without the Dark Forces or LucasArts Discs? Then I'll show you how to do so.

This Installation covers Version 1 of the Dark Forces Demo which contains the First Level of the Game only.

1. Visit the RGB Classics Website, search for Dark Forces & download the Demo version of Dark Forces along with the Cutscenes that are optional.

2. Create a New Folder in the Dark Forces Game Directory where Dark Forces is Installed & name the Folder "DarkSW1".

3. Extract the Dark Forces Demo & its cutscenes into the DarkSW1 Folder.

4. Open Dark Forces and exit to the DOS Prompt.

5. Enter CD DarkSW1 to enter the Dark Forces Demo Folder.

6. Open the Sound Setup Program by entering SOUND.

7. Once inside the Sound Setup Program, select Express to Autodetect the Sound Card.

8. When the Music and Sound Tests are completed successfully, press enter to exit out.

9. After the Sound & Music are set up correctly, enter KEYCONFIG to check your Keyboard Setup for the Dark Forces Demo Version.

10. After checking the Keyboard Setup for the Dark Forces Demo, enter DF to start playing the Demo.

11. Enjoy the First Level of Dark Forces on Any Difficulty of your choosing.

12. If you like playing Star Wars: Dark Forces the Demo Version, go buy yourself a copy of Star Wars: Dark Forces, Retail or Digital Download Versions.

2-2. Full Demo Installation - Version 2

Want to play Star Wars: Dark Forces the Demo Version Version 2? Then I'll show you how to do so. However, unlike Version 1 of the Dark Forces Demo, you need the Dark Forces Super Sampler CD to play it.

This Installation covers Version 2 of the Dark Forces Demo which contains the First 3 Levels of the Game.

1. Visit Amazon to Purchase the LucasArts Archives Vol. 2 Star Wars Set which contains the Dark Forces Super Sampler.

2. Insert the Dark Forces Super Sampler CD into your external DVD Drive if you have one, if you don't be sure to buy an external USB DVD Drive.

3. Open Dark Forces and exit to the DOS Prompt.

4. Mount the external DVD Drive in DosBox that has the Dark Forces Super Sampler CD inserted. (Example: Mount D D:\ -t cdrom)

5. Enter INSTALL to start the Dark Forces Super Sampler Installation Program.

6. Select Install & use the default directory that is provided which is DFLITE then press Enter to Install Version 2 of the Dark Forces Demo.

7. The Sound Setup will start automatically after the Installation is finished. Once inside the Sound Setup Program, select Express to Autodetect the Sound Card.

8. When the Music and Sound Tests are completed successfully, press enter to exit out.

9. After the Sound & Music are set up correctly, exit the Dark Forces Super Sampler Installation then enter KEYCONFIG to check your Keyboard Setup for the Version 2 of the Dark Forces Demo Version.

10. After checking the Keyboard Setup for the Dark Forces Demo Version 2, enter DARK to start playing Version 2 of the Demo.

11. Enjoy the First 3 Levels of Dark Forces on Any Difficulty of your choosing.

12. If you like playing Version 2 of the Demo version of Star Wars: Dark Forces, go buy yourself a copy of Star Wars: Dark Forces, Retail or Digital Download Versions.

13. If you want to play Version 2 of the Dark Forces Demo again, you'll need to insert the Dark Forces Super Sampler CD into your DVD drive then mount it in DosBox.
