It's technically the single most difficult individual item in D4 to obtain, but unlike earlier games the trap is now overrated since there's nothing you need 99,999,999 all stats for unless you're hunting other player's parties. Much better to either get a high stat item to dupe early, and/or an item that maxes out move + jump and still gets all the stats you need to bulldoze through the entire game.
If I were doing it all again, honestly I could probably 100% the achievements in about a week. I'm actually going for a lot more than that though, for example:

One single thing left.
Most of the time with some of these re-releases I just feel like I'm dealing with decade old gamefaq ghosts ;p
Once I finished grinding out statisticians and other innocents via duping, and hit max level, I didn't really hit a wall until around floor 20 in the loc. Even with trash gear that was my first point of friction (I think i was using level 100 hero capes ;p). Pringer x was doable enough even with that gear, so I never felt a real need for anything better until I stopped being able to one shot stuff around floor 20. That's when I started looking up which armor to go with and the trap had the quick appeal.
I actually considered the invincible armor, I already had one level 0 rarity zero before I started the traps, but I couldn't bring myself to level it because I didn't need to for the 100%. PURE LAZY, haha. I only needed to obtain it, not level it.
From the same point as starting to try and farm for an Arcadia, you can grab a legendary Super Mechsuit which the game tries to practically throw at you in the LoC as it's the most common randomly generated armour, then race through it for an Ultimate Barrier and then an Invincible Armour. The resulting armour has +2 move and +30 jump by default, so when duped every character will have 99 jump and +6 move over just Traps, allowing you to easily cheese every X-dimension map.
Time spent: You'll likely have it done in the time it takes you to even find a legendary Arcadia.
Therefore, Traps lose in literally every single consideration other than "number of Gencys used". They are the worst of both worlds and shouldn't be recommended to anybody, I would also never consider one to be perfect even if it does have 2.1m stats, so yeah no amount of Gencys can perfect a Trap as a Trap's simply not perfect to begin with.
An Exodus.
You can get a rarity 0 Exodus in act 1 of a new game through the Ranking Shop and stealing basic items with a new thief, which will for an hour or so of effort get you enough points for a rarity 0 Exodus and an unsubdued level 50 Statistician for duping later. If you do it for an hour or two more, you can get a Guardian, and weapon specialist too. You can then go midway into act 5, unlock ToO4 and get strong enough to level that Exodus enough to beat Baal with for the achievement or speeding through every mission in record time.
Time spent: a few hours from the start of a new game.

Here's the problem with the Trap, as I keep trying to make clear: If literally the only consideration you have is the least number of Gencys used *and literally nothing else*, then yes the Trap is best.
The Trap however requires that you first find a legendary Arcadia, which requires you get to the LoC and they cannot be found randomly equipped to enemies which means the Chara World isn't an option so you either need to steal one from an enemy too strong to handle without an already levelled up item or just pray in the IW for luck with the bonus gauge or a chest. Then you need to be strong enough to go all the way through the IW of one and steal the Trap on floor 100 and then level that up, which isn't a small requirement at all for just "beating the game".

Just thanks again for your efforts.
Just so were clear bro I totally, totally respect the guide and your dedication to the min max. Disgaea is ABOUT the min/max. No ego here, I was just relaying a strat that I read about and applied. I didn't create it or anything. The only issue I took was your line: "Oh and you can't perfect an item with just 60 gencys, not even close." which is probably true by some definitions of perfect. You'll max out a trap with this tho, you will. I tested it myself. I killed the boss an extra time or two and the stats stopped budging. (Passed all movement bills along the way and had like 1-2 maps in hundreds of floors that I coudln't reach the exit on). What I read was just that the trap maxes out faster than any other item due to some mathy stuff.
Main goal for me (and probably most people reading this particular guide) was just a steam 100%. The item/ ship part/ all skill grind got very real towards the end. I personally burned out, but it's all done now ;p
