As an introduction
First, a big thanks goes to FarOutCry who created this mod!
Everything works perfectly.
Instead of stretching like in vanilla Far Cry, the weapon textures have been scaled correctly.
You can easily set up authentic widescreen support from 4:3 to even 48:9!

Installation
The whole process is quick and easy.
Mod has been written as an installer, so it does the job for us.
All you need to do is download the mod and select the target directory.
(C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\) and voila!

Additionally, you can choose extra options to be installed, like SilentPatch - created by Silent - and I really urge you.

This patch aims to fix a few issues, like broken water reflections or problems with vertical syns.

Next step
After the installation, just run the game and click on 'modifications' at the left menu.
Then select 'FarOut Widescreen WIP' and click on 'load'.
Whenever you start the game, you have to select this mod from the list - remember it.

Result
An extra tip
I typically set the lock to 72 & 144 fps in older games.
I've noticed that the CPU and GPU experience higher temperatures due to a significant discrepancy between frames.
RivaTuner is what I use, as shown below.
So if, for some reason, you would like to get lower temperatures - here's a tip.

@One Man Army Much thanks! I hadn't thought of that, and it makes things significantly easier.

Just something to add.
You can run the game with the mod directly, without having to relaunch, by adding the following line in the Far Cry Steam Launch Options

-mod:FarOut_Widescreen

Yes by default, the Steam version is only 32bit version, 1.4 patch.
I was reading multiple guides for this game and saw there were different versions and it was a bit confusing. I think this mod is all we need.

Thanks for your answers.

@One Man Army I don't see any choice in the Steam version - either beta, legacy, or a specific number. Also, the guide was created a long time ago and I honestly don't remember. Although I know that after downloading the game, you just need to install the mod and that's it. I didn't change any compatibility or game versions.

Gonna ask just to make sure, all this is for running the 32bit,1.4 version of the game correct?
No need for 64bit, I saw a lot of mentions with problems with that version and other installations etc.

@One Man Army This is the optimal option. The mod works perfectly fine without it, but you can apply it if you want.

The ReadMe file for SilentPatch says that we need to put the "Tent AI Bug Fix.pak" file in FCData. Do we need to do that as well for the Mod?

@The Uchronist No clue. Are they external mods or options in the Widescreen installer? WIP suggests 'Work-In-Progress,' but I'm not sure what it is.

What are the difference between the "final" release and "final WIP"?
