File Path

The location of the file exists on the following path:

<root drive>:\Users\<user profile name>\Documents\Star Renegades

(basically its in my documents folder)

if anyone on GamePass wants to do the same the location is different. I CBA registering on fearlessrevolution to post there so anyone is welcome to.

Inside wgs there will be a folder with a long hashed name and a containers.index file, inside the folder will be another similar one. Then you'll see 5 files - 4 with hashed names and one container file.

They're all plaintext files so you can check what's inside. The smallest one is the profile file, while the other 3 are different save files. To check which one corresponds to SRRWSlot0.mdi just save and exist the game and watch the latest timestamp change. For me it was named C12DBFBFA5394F00BE8602EDE29398D2.

Actual modification

• Open the file with any text editor tool. Notepad++ is my go to editor.
  
  
• Search the word resourceAmounts, and you should see an entry (which actually is an array data type, but will not go into cs mumbo jumbo for the sake of simplicity) something like this:
  
  resourceAmounts":[7,25,52,115,21,1,1,1,1,1,1,5,3,6,3,9,6,6,15,20,7,8,14,9,1,1,3,2,4,27,27,27]}
  
  
• Modify the first four entries to any number of your liking. These correspond to DNA, hero currency (to unlock heroes), money (which is used to purchase equipments and weapons) , and the currency which is used to obtain perks (the one you receive for defeating enemies, in red, don't know the name, sorry!)
  
  
• Load up your save file, and you should have the resources
  
  
• Please note that every time you die, the file will add data of your current play with your previous play. so ensure that you are editing resourceAmounts of your current playthrough
  
  The file will continue to grow as many times as you die, so it may become quiet lengthy and may become a bit difficult to find the resourceAmounts of your current playthrough (which is usually right at the end)

Important Points to take care of

For this to work, you need to have atleast 1 unit of whatever resource you're trying to increase. Be it DNA, gold, or any other resources. This will not work if the resource you're trying to increase is not in your inventory

Looks like devs pulled a fast one which causes all your chars to die if you leveled them up with this strategy.

To avoid this, level up to level 4 then fight 1 battle then lvl up to max after.

Proof

Please note that your dna and gold are reset to zero every time you die.

I just expanded on what they mentioned since many people may not be able to follow what he mentioned and can confirm that it works.

With that said, do not expect the game to become a cakewalk, even at max levels and unlimited resources, you WILL die if you strategy+hero combo sucks.

@Spicy Larry : are you sure you picked the right adress to edit in the file ? Use the search function and enter the values you see in your party, it's generally the final (or 2nd to last) line that is the correct one of your party to change.

Just tried this. I can't even get to the point where the game might crash because, despite editing the values in the indicated "resourceAmounts" array, there's no change whatsoever in-game.

This still works. Level up to level 4, then play a match, then level up again to your hearts content : )
