The film does not have the reflection inherent in the 1995 original. One of the basics that was missed. I have no problems with Johansen, but this is the actress and this is the film where there are no nude scenes, And This is Very Important - the sexualization of the main character worked in a different direction in anime - Motoko did not feel like a person and therefore undressing was the norm for her. Through this, we could understand her conflict of body and soul (ghost)

To Be Fair, Johansen did not want to
make the Movie at all... The only reason
she made the Movie was, because
People saw her artwork of set photos,
& they liked it sooo much that they
wanted the Movie bad enough that
People begged her to make the Movie...
-- Johansen's Body Size was a big
---- factor in why the Movie failed badly
---- Not necesarily her acting, just body size

She tried to play a tough bodily roll
in a robotic way of a Big Strong
Character as if she could pull it off,
but she came off very stiff, & her
smaller size really made it awkward
looking in the Movie...

I cannot accept the fact that Rinko Kikuchi was not our Major in 2017. understand that this is MY problem, but ... still ... I cannot accept it.
