An In Depth Guide to Making A Playable Dremora Character (No Mods Required)
By Prophet
In this guide I will attempt to go into detail on how to successfully create a playable dremora character in the game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim SE without the use of mods. This guide also applies to the original copy of Skryim released in 2011. I originally discovered this little trick in the original 2011 Skyrim release for pc but never got around to making a guide. So I thought I would share this neat little trick so that anybody who wants to roleplay as a dremora lord within the game (without the use of mods) could.

The In-Game Console
The console command window is opened by pressing the tilde key (~) in the upper left corner of the keyboard, under escape (Esc). The window is closed by pressing (~) again.
Codes are typed in the bottom left corner and a list of previous commands appears along the left side of the screen. Pressing Enter executes the command. Case is not important.

Commands
Functions
ShowRaceMenu
Opens the race menu which allows you to customize your character.
SetRace Dremora
Changes selected target's race to Dremora.
SetRace DarkElf
Changes selected target's race to Dark Elf.
Things To Know Before Starting
In order to begin your transformation into a dremora lord the only requirement is the use of the in-game console and it's commands. I have already detailed the commands that will be used in this guide and how to access the console in the previous section. You can use your main character, a new character, or even your mom's character to begin this. The race does not matter and neither do any of the current presets or added details. As I take you through this guide, we will essentially be making a brand spanking new character from scratch. Be sure to make a backup save before doing any of this, as this will reset your character's features and give you a point of return in case you have made a mistake. The only thing that will help is to completely remove all equipped items, as it will allow you to more easily see what's going on.

Below Is The Character I Will Be Using:
How To Do It
Step 1:
You are going to want to start off by opening the console with the tilde key (~). Once the console is opened, you can begin by typing in the command "ShowRaceMenu" and execute it with the Enter key in order to open the character creation screen. After you execute the command and the menu has opened up, you can close the console.

Step 2:
Next, you are going to want to select the race "Dark Elf" from the menu and customize him to your liking. Some of the customization options will become unavailable once you change your race.

Once you have made your desired dremora, you can finish and name your character.

Step 3:
You are going to want to open your console again, but this time you are going to want to type and execute the command "SetRace Dremora". This should make your player taller. Once you see the changes you can execute the "ShowRaceMenu" command again to take you back to the character creation. Here you will notice that your character's skin shade has gotten darker.

Step 4:
The next step to creating your mighty dremora lord is to simply type into the console "SetRace DarkElf". This should give your character the signature dremora horns. Next you are going to want to change the race back by using the "SetRace Dremora" command, this reverts your mighty warrior of Oblivion back to the legitimate race while also allowing you to customize him to your liking with the fabled horns.

Step 5:
The final step to becoming a fierce warrior of Oblivion is to, well, make them look like a dremora. There are 3 main sliders that you can use to define your character into the threatening being that are the dremora lords. The "Skin Tone" slider to make them darker, the "Complexion" slider to give them their face paint, and the "Hair Color" slider to give them that nice, dark, and black hair that all dremora lords seem to have.

Once you are done customizing your player for the final time, you are free to finish and name your god-like warrior.

A Final Word
By no means is this method perfect, nor is it as complicated as I may have made it seem. This is for all of those players out there who prefer to play vanilla without the hassle of downloading mods. If you run into any problems just comment down below and I will attempt to find a fix to it. With all that being said, I hope you all enjoyed this walkthrough guide.

Very cool guide, and I was able to make everything work up to the finalizing him into the Dremora race. I can get him horns and make his skin darker, but once I do that, I can no longer put the war paint on, scars, and if I make him "SetRace Dremora" at the very end to make him larger again, clothes will not show up on him, he just stay's with the loincloth lol.

Don't forget to ensure that the Vigilants of Stendarr know that you're a dremora.
