THE META™
alright you just paid 20$ of your hard earned cash in order to play fight crab, and you see this hyper agressive game with so many we- yea that isn't really how the game is. In reality this game is slower paced game that emphasizes precise movement and positioning since being even slightly off in your positioning could potentially cost you the game so you need to learn the basics on how to position yourself, what to do in specific ranges, the crabs and weapons, and some of the mechanics so you can start winning.
The crabs
Alright let's look at the crabs themselves, while they have the same buttons, they have varying playstyles which they excel in due to their base stats which may not seem important but these 6 stats are the basic foundation to your game plan and your set, and there are some stats that are better than others so here's a list of stats most to least important

Acceleration- in this game movement matters and acceleration has the most impact on your crabs movement since while your base speed matters, having a good acceleration gets you to your top speed quicker, that's why the red rock crab has ridiculous movement and is one of the best in the game.

Range- like i said before good positioning gets you wins and your crab's range dictates what the best position is for you besides your weapons, so having good range can give you the advantage over your opponent in certain situations.

Turning speed- your turning speed plays the biggest role in disadvantage state especially when you're trying to get up, the game doesn't say this but along with mashing both punch buttons turning while you get up can get you up quicker, along with walking in the direction of your face so take turning speed into consideration.

Speed- this is some pretty self explanatory ♥♥♥♥, having a good base speed helps you with positioning and getting to a certain position quicker.

Weight- while not being that important in disadvantage, weight is important in those up close scramble situations since blocking attacks requires precision and doesn't cover some of your body so a lot of time, you have to just take the hit and being heavy can keep you standing longer than a crab with lighter weight.

Area- having a small area makes you harder to hit, and having a big area makes you easier to hit, this stat is kind of useless most of the time except mabye in those up close scramble situations but it only really matters in correlation with your weight, so don't worry about this stat.

Now that you know what stats matter and what stats don't, now we can get to actually chosing your weapons, now you may look at the list and not be too sure on what to pick but don't worry, the balancing on weapons are all over the place, there are absolutely braindead stupidly op weapons, a lot of weapons are out classed by other weapons and some are just a complete dumpster fire, so it boils down to kitana, jet, heavy sword, trident, boomerang, shotgun, revolver, drills, great hammer and the occasional oddball pick which turns out to be super good, but dispite how limited this selection is, you don't have to follow it, the most important thing about choosing a weapon is the synergy it has with your crab, here's an example

Take a look at this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, the red frog crab if you look at it's base stats it has average weight and area, but has the highest base speed in the game by a significant amount and has one of the highest turning speed along with above average acceleration. It's weakness is it has one of the shortest ranges in the game so it tends to get stuffed out by crabs with longer ranges which is the majority of the cast so you need a weapon that gives it better range, a good option would be to give it two tridents since it has great range and is also extremely braindead so if you want to watch the world burn, use this set. So what set do you use? Well i don't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ know you why are you asking me. Just take a look at your crabs strengths and weaknesses and choose a set based on that, it will take some time and some losses but eventually you'll find the right set.
Movement
Since fight crab is movement based i might as well go into some basics about the movement, after you do a dash normally you'll start walking and you have to double tap the direction you want to go to dash again but if you dash by pressing the direction once and holding what button is assigned to wall run, you can dash for as long as you want and go a bit further when you do this, it's the best and most common way to move around so you should learn how to do this.

If you punch, it has a bit of recoil to it and it can be used in multiple ways like while you're trying to get up (though the game already tells you that.), but you get the most use out of it while you're walking or dashing where, you can use it as a way to retreat, a spacing tool or as an aggressive approach option if you're close enough so use it to mix up your opponent. (if you're using a two handed weapon you can't do this) There is some movement tech when it comes to hyper mode but, i'll cover that when i'm talking about hyper mode as a whole.

If you press wall run while turning it will cause you to turn faster than if you normally turn and it lets you move while you're turning, the metal crab can't do this because of it's special dash.
Start of the match
Alright lets talk about positioning, at the start of the match you start off across the map from each other so the person with better projectiles or with longer range has the advantage but don't worry if you're the one with the disadvantage, if your movement and defense is on point, you should be fine for the most part. For those with the advantage, well obviously keep that advantage, use your long limbs or projectiles to keep them from closing the gap.
Close quarters
So you finally closed the gap that was present in the start of the match, and you want to get all close and personal, so you get into your opponents face and you hit them, that's when you realize something.....hitstun doesn't exist in this game so your opponents smacks you with an attack that did more damage and now you're in a pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ position. If you can't tell by now, being in your opponents face is probably the worst position you can be in, ok that isn't entirely true, it depends on your set compared to your opponent's when it comes to three categories, speed, range and damage output, if you out preform your opponent in damage and speed or range (it's up to personal preference since they're interchangeable.) You should be fine.

When i say speed, i don't mean just the movement speed of your crab i also mean the swing speed of your claw, since each crab has a different swing speed, i don't know who has the fastest or slowest but i know that the general rule of thumb is that the shorter the range, the quicker the swing speed. Both still matter though since having a faster movement speed gives you more ways to approach and more ways to mix up your opponent and having a faster swing speed means you'll be dealing more damage with the right weapons.

When it comes to range it has to be a very specific range since having too little range means you can get stuffed out easier, and having too much means you're useless in up close scramble situations

I don't need to explain why damage output is important but it is the most important factor, and it's required to have a good cqb presence, sure you can have really good mobility or have good range but they can be rendered useless without damage to back it up.
Mid range
A lot of the same principles i talked about in close quarters apply in the mid-range as well with one key difference, speed doesn't really matter here, it's all about range and damage. Having a good mid-range game is probably the most important thing to have, and not having one could mean the difference between winning and losing no matter how good your close quarters or full screen game is so spend the most time practicing this.
Hyper mode
If this game has a comeback mechanic, than hyper mode is that mechanic, your movement speed is buffed, you can't be knocked down while in hyper mode and if you press wall run, you'll start flying. It's honestly really good, it can get you out of disadvantage pretty easily and can even be how you get the win in the first place, so i'll give you the basics on it's skills and list them from worst to best.

Crab ball- I'm not gonna sugar coat it, crab ball is pretty much useless, sure it might give you armor, it could be kind of effective in the chinese restaurant, and if you use the jet with certain crabs it's busted but it's too situational to be useful.

Kanihameha- the calappa cannon seems like a great tool, it does some pretty decent damage, and it has great knock back, but there's one thing that holds it back, it's pretty easy to block so it can only be used to throw your opponent off guard, as a niche kill option or as a way to style on your opponent.

Crab copter- the crab copter is actually a pretty good option especially if you're using a set that's more geared towards longer ranges, it does good damage it can knock your opponents weapons out of their hands with the right set and can be great for controlling space, it's biggest problem is it takes a while to start up so your opponent can see it coming from a while away, so use it wisely.

Kanioken- You know how hyper buffs your movement speed, well kanioken is that movement buff on crack, it's very simple but at the same time very effective.

Enchant- ok enchant is good, it's really good, it significantly buffs your damage out put along with giving you a movement buff which while isn't as good as normal hyper mode or kanioken it's still pretty significant, there isn't really a situation where enchant is a bad option.
Conclusion
Alright those are the basics about how to get good at this game, it's gonna take some time and getting your cheeks clapped by stereotypical asian gamer #9758547, but if you don't give up, you too could be one of the best.

yeah i've gotten grabbed by the tasmanian giant and it made me let go of my weapon.though, it's pretty hard to do. You're gonna have to trade damage if you wanna do that on a real player. though I haven't seen any real players now.

you can disarm people though, if you grab onto their weapon it automatically makes them let go and you "hold" it

@Ryd You can't disarm people in fight crab, you may have noticed the bars by the weapons you use in your hands, if those bars run out you lose grip of the weapon and have to pick it back up.

Unless you make your enemy somehow have a seizure with their controller then you won't be able to disarm them on purpose.

Instead of yourself using the mount, its actually better to give it to your companion, specifically the mantis shrimp with a whip sword, the whipsword is under used but is quite powerful when in the hands of an npc because there whip sword isnt as a glitchy mess when using it. I reccomend a high level mudcrab with alot of resistance and strength, with pile drivers or excaliburs as there main

does anybody know how to disarm enemies? Ive seen npc enemies drop there weapons during battles so is there a certain way to hit them to disarm them
Rocketeer Oct 25, 2020 @ 1:39pm
ive found using weapons that counteract the crabs weakness is a good strategy, using shovel and a crowbar is a cheap way to counteract the red rock crabs small arms for example, snow crab makes good with a revolver and knife for starters

You can knock a thrown weapon out of the air with a well timed/aimed strike with a weapon or shield bash. This will often knock the weapon down instead of back to its owner, this is less effective with rocket engines and drills due to their faster flight speed and stability. I plan on making a detailed guide on each crab, their ideal weapons, upgrades, and how they behave with different weapon configurations.
