Introduction
You may be wondering, How do I get anything better than a Draw while I play Cauldrons of War? Well this guide should help you in doing this by looking at the tactics, events, and suggestions. Now lets get into this guide.
Victory Points
When you start your campaign you choose a difficulty, Normal is recommended if you are always stuck on draws but do whatever. Here you can start thinking about your strategy and how your going to plan out your attacks and where you will be heading to. Its a good idea to go for the easy objectives like Kiev and Kharkov and maybe Rostov then try to siege out Odessa and Sevastopol. The other objectives are much harder and should only be focused on once you have secured at minimum Ukraine.
The Commisars
Once you finish looking at the Victory Point screen your faced with this. Treating them with respect works for me and shooting them just raises cohesion and raises barbarity. Treating them with respect doesn't do anything bad so it seems to be better overall.
The 309th
With this event either way a police unit is pinned or weakened and really it doesn't matter too much because its not a very good unit and unless you like little units just restore discipline and it is less barbarity
Operation Silberfuchs
Operation Silberfuchs is an interesting event because it allows you to choose how to attack the Murmansk railway or Murmansk and the Murmansk railway and either way its really hard to do so cutting the track is what I usually do but doing both gives a VP if you take Murmansk so going both operations can work but murmansk will be instantly reinforced and you will realize it will be a huge slog to even cross the Litsa and move through the marshes.
Uman or Kiev?
Uman or Kiev is a somewhat important choice and moving south to Uman is pretty worthwhile as the Fuhrer wants you to do it and it allows you to encircle a bunch of Soviet forces and sometimes it pulls the entire soviet army off of Kiev and allows you to take the city in one hit of Progress. Going straight to Kiev works if your trying to take objectives as fast as possible as an Uman attack will divert most of army group south to Uman with like an infantry army on Kiev. Though moving on Kiev actually lowers your command points so whatever.
A Stubborn General
A very important choice and going South is actually better because 1. if Kiev hasn't fallen yet you can encircle the entire soviet army at Kiev basically 2. You get more missions but going east gives a bit of progress to the south but also there's a huge encirclement at Orel that cant be attacked because heading south from the approaches of Moscow lets you kill the soviets in a HOI4 encirclement sized pocket. Overall just go south unless your trying to spaghetti your way to Moscow.
Operation Typhoon
A very important choice which will effect your entire campaign. If you want to spaghetti towards Moscow trying to natch Moscow can help significantly but if your attacking anywhere else don't do it as it takes tons of resources and takes all of your reserves and slaps them down infront of Moscow which isn't good if your attacking Rostov or Leningrad or literally anywhere but Moscow because it will also take the supply trucks.
What to do with Leningrad?
This is like the Typhoon event, a very important one. If you stick to the original plan taking Leningrad gives 3 points which will help you to not get only a Draw but if you starve it it raises barbarity but disperses the points among other objectives and gives you 1 more point in total except soviet units are stronger from the barbarity so its a win-lose situation. Also you have some soviet units stuck on the coast to deal with too.
Conclusion/Extra Tips
So the Finnish are kind of useless as once you take Leningrad they chill out to the North of the city and don't do much and you cant push beyond the Svir so after a while they become useless. Also when in cities do NOT attack with tanks and never attack with Panzers in the winter. If you do these you will find that your losing like 11 tanks and your tank units have no tanks in them. Also you can attack Moscow from Army Group North and Army Group South so if your central army group isn't doing well you can always take Moscow from the South. Also the Lovat and Vizny Novgorod missions lead to nothing and after the Vizny Novgorod mission there is literally nothing. And yeah that is my guide on how to beat the soviets and really just an event guide with some tips. I may also make a soviet events guide and after that ill work on my cauldrons of war fandom or something

With operation Silberfuchs if you time your offensive towards Murmansk right, mostly by waiting for the enemy to draw it's forces to defend the rail line, you can very easily take it before winter as it will only have the forces that start assigned to it.

On the first turn, your first two actions on each front (except the most southerly, where you only have enough planes for air field attack) should be air field attack, and then air superiority. And after the first turn, unless the Axis already has air superiority, your first move should be air superiority, if you can play it.
