Easy Guide To Get Fable 3 Working On The Steam Deck or PC With DLC

This is a basic guide for you if you are looking to play Fable 3 on your Steam Deck or PC through Steam. This guide will show you how to get the base game working and how to add DLC to existing saves.

Steps To Get Fable 3 Working On The Steam Deck

1. Turn on your steam deck and install Fable 3 from your library.

2. After Fable 3 is installed, press the steam button on the bottom left, select Power and then select Switch to Desktop.

3. Navigate to this guide on your steam deck and then click the link below to download the fable3-xlive file.

4. Once the fable3-xlive file is finished downloading, double click it to open it and then drag the xlive.dll file onto your desktop.

5. Open Dolphin File Manager. (Blue Folder Icon)

6. Once Dolphin File Manager is open, navigate to the Fable 3 Folder by following this path: /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Fable 3/

7. Once you have opened the Fable 3 folder, click and drag the xlive file from your desktop and place it into the fable 3 folder.

8. Close Dolphin File Manager.

9. Run Fable 3 in Desktop Mode.

10. Follow the prompts and activate the game with the activation code that it gives you.
(If Fable 3 gets stuck on loading data sets/updates and shows 4/4 but will not progress, close it, enter Gaming Mode and then run Fable 3 again. This will allow the download to finish and give you the code if it has not already.)

11. The game should start and then you are good to go. After the game starts, you can close it, go back to Gaming Mode and you will be able to start Fable 3 from your library.

Steps To Get Steam Version Of Fable 3 Working On PC

1. Install "WinRAR" to be able to extract the xlive file. A link will be provided below on where you can download it. Make sure to click the correct bit version for your computer 32/64 bit.

2. After installing WinRAR, click the link below to download the fable3-xlive archive.

3. Once the fable3-xlive archive is finished downloading, double click it to open it and then drag the xlive.dll file onto your desktop.

4. Open File Explorer. (Folder Icon)

5. Once File Explorer is open, navigate to the Fable 3 Folder by following this path: C:\ProgramFiles (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > Common > Fable 3

6. Once you have opened the Fable 3 folder, click and drag the xlive file from your desktop and place it into the fable 3 folder.

7. Close File Explorer.

8. Run Fable 3 and it should work.

Steps To Add All 3 DLC Packs To Fable 3 On PC

1. Download the "DLC_xlive_removal.zip" file by clicking the link below.

2. After you have downloaded the "DLC_xlive_removal.zip" file, open File Explorer (folder icon) and navigate to the Fable 3 folder.
C:\ProgramFiles (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > Common > Fable 3

3. Copy the folder named "DLC" from the "DLC_xlive_removal.zip" file you downloaded in step 1 and paste it in the Fable 3 folder.

4. Open the "DLC" folder you just pasted and you will find a folder within it called "90_DLC_xlive_removal". You will keep that folder, but now you will need to create 3 additional folders there. I will list the folder names you will need to create in the "DLC" folder below.

5. You will now need to download the DLC files. I will list 3 links below where each link will provide the files for each DLC. You will need to download each .cab file and then move all the contents for that specific .cab file into the correct DLC folder name.

6. Download the "GFWL disabler" zip file. I will provide the link below.

7. Navigate back to the Fable 3 folder in File Explorer (folder icon) and then move "xlive.dll" and "xlive.ini" from the "GFWL Disabler.zip" file you just download in step 6 to the Fable 3 folder. (If the "xlive.dll" file is already in the Fable 3 folder, you will need to delete it and paste the new one from step 6 there. The DLC will not work if you don't replace it.)

8. Open another File Explorer tab and navigate to your Fable 3 save. I will list the file path below on how to get there.
C:\Users\User_Name\Saved Games\Lionhead Studios\Fable 3
("User_Name" in the file path will be your username instead.)

9. Copy the file name for your save (Example: 1000100010001000) and then navigate back to the Fable 3 folder.
C:\ProgramFiles (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > Common > Fable 3

10. Once you are in the Fable 3 folder, located the file named "xlive.ini" which is the one you pasted there from step 7 and double click it to open.

11. Locate the text "profile xuid 1 =" and replace 1122334400000000 with the text you copied from step 9. It should look like this if you done it correctly: profile xuid 1 = 1000100010001000

12. Click file on the top left and choose "Save".

13. Run Fable 3 and all 3 DLCs should be there. You can check to see if it worked by going to the Sanctuary and seeing if you have any gifts on the left by where the dog lays.

Stupid question but when does the black dye dlc and all that other misc. stuff become available? I got the hunting lodge but that's it. I just beat the mercenaries.

Thanks for the guide, this with some others helped me get the game running on the deck. If I own the DLCs through steam already though do I need to follow the DLC parts of this guide? Trying to save myself some work if possible....

@pattytati - You will need to download Fable 3 from steam and then it will create the folder. You can't purchase Fable 3 from Steam directly. You will have to purchase the code from a site like Amazon and then redeem it in Steam.

Ignorant question here, step 5 of the pc section assumes I have a Fable 3 folder already. I don't and it isn't on the store page, how does one get a legit Fable 3 folder? I'll go ahead and assume that making a new folder titles Fable 3 would never work.

I'm playing on Deck and the game runs perfectly; however I can't seem to get the DLCs to work on either PC or Deck :(
I'm obviously missing something but I'll be damned if I know what

How do i transfer the saves from PC to steamdeck? When i boot up on the steamdeck the game has restarted.

Edit : I found out whats going on, you have to extract the cab files with winrar.
