1. Crop Background Information
Players can grow a wide selection of crops on their farm, with each season having specific crops that can be grown. Shipping cost is determined by the star rank of the crop. Additionally, shipping prices differ between Simple Mode and Normal Mode. Seeds can be bought from the General Store and Huang's Store. Crops only have to be watered once a day. Crops do not have to be watered on rainy days. Crops do not grow in Winter. You can freely move between stem crops such as tomatoes, corn, cucumbers ..etc, no need to have gaps between crops unless aesthetically pleasing to do so. Each seed bag contains 9 seeds.
2. How to Increase Star Quality of Crops
Beginning the first day of Spring year 2 you will receive a letter from Gotts the workshop owner. Gotts will notify you that you can upgrade your field to level 2 to increase the odds of harvesting level 3 and level 4 star quality crops ( Their is still a probability of yielding level 1 and 2 Star crops but the upgrade unlocks the possibility of 3 star crops to 4 stars randomly). The field upgrade costs 20,000 Gold. This is a substantial investment ,but will pay itself off in the long run due to the increase in crop shipment prices due to randomly yielding better quality crops. During Spring year 3 another upgrade will be available for another 20,000 Gold that will give a greater chance to yield 5 star crops.

Doing the math here seems like Potatoes just aren't worth it as Turnips yield more profit per day when you compare them.
