Rising Sun - Ultimate Edition (Scripted)

Omschrijving
This mod combines the best features of other Tabletop Simulator Rising Sun mods with my own work to create an ultimate edition. It contains all Exclusive Kickstarter content, all figurines, a clean table and many scripts (including an AI for the War Phase).

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • 3D Figurines for every miniature with the exception of the 2nd Bushi sculpt.
  • 2D cut-out figures for all miniatures including both Bushis sculpts (in the box underneath the rulebook; replace them manually if you prefer these).
  • Claim figurines by touching them with your clan sheet.
  • No players sitting at the sides of the table for better visibility.
  • Scripted force calculation.
  • Scripted resizing of all figures.
  • Scripted War Phase random coin allocator
  • Scripted War Phase AI to play against.
  • Community expansion Oksel's "Wild cards"[boardgamegeek.com]
INSTRUCTIONS
To get correct force calculations, you need to put your cards, WPTs, ronin, coin, etc. in places where the scripts can find them. You also need to touch your clan sheet with any monsters you acquire to claim them. Check out picture 4 and 5 above (or click the links below) for more information.
About the Dai-Gensui AI
In the teal community expansions box next to the monsters, lucky gods and Kami, you'll find the Dai-Gensui boxes. One is a utility AI the other is a random one. Both should be placed on a player sheet similar to how you would claim a monster. During battles, you can then press its button to have it allocate that clan's coin according to a script.

The Utility AI currently has the following limitations:
  • It can handle Koi's ability but it is not great at it.
  • It is not aware of Sun's advantage towards tied actions.
  • It does not learn from its past or its opponent's tendencies.
  • It cannot negotiate.
The goal of this project was to give myself an AI opponent that could make independent decisions during the war, as I felt that there is often not a perfect answer to winning a battle resulting in a ton of analysis paralysis when I simulate a game (in which I play all clans from each clan's individual perspective trying to win with all of them). The utility AI does that reasonably but it is just a little script written by an amateur programmer, so don't expect an expert challenge when playing against it.

The best work-around for the limitations above is to adjust the AI to your playing style. To do this, open the Script Editor on any Dai-Gensui, change the variables at the top of the page and save/reload the game to make them active.

Rising Sun is a spiritual successor in the same mythic big box series as Blood Rage: same designer, same artist, same studio and same sculptors. Rising Sun is a game about honor, negotiation, and warfare in a feudal Japan where the ancient gods (kami) have returned to rebuild the empire. Whereas the distant ancestor of Blood Rage was Risk, Rising Sun claims Diplomacy as its distant ancestor. Tackle negotiations, alliances, and war. Capture hostages and commit seppuku. The game features an honor track, which rises and falls based on your actions.

I found a number of bugs and fixed them here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3349709575 . It's free for everyone to use in the interim in case DrBo6 is no longer updating this mod. I'll also remove my re-upload of the mod if requested + the new bug fixes are merged to this main file.

To be clear, I'm super grateful for DrBo6's amazing work! Just wanted to contribute a little bit to polish this mod.

Thanks for all of the work you have put into this. And the ongoing support - since 2020!

(1) What difference does the War/Harvest toggle make?

(2) I notice in the Tower cards, that the artwork for the "Way of the Naganita" cards is a little mixed up. It seems to have some of the artwork from the "Way of the Moneylender" card instead.

Great work here thanks. The strength calculation button seems to have broke again though doesn't like the Turtles Strongholds being on the board.

@divertis They are being dealt to players' hands. You should not be able to see what is in someone's hand unless you adjust your settings (or are playing as the black player).

Thanks so much for this mod! One question (for now): it looks like the mandate cards are dealt from the bag face up outside of the player's "screen", where they could be seen. Not a biggie, just checking if I'm missing something.

Subscribe to the mod, then open TTS, make a server and select the mod. After subscribing, it will be in the list.

Sorry, how to download the game Rising Sun? I subs have already Tabletop and Steam account just i don't find the download ...
DrBo6  [auteur] 21 mrt 2021 om 12:39
No, all the stuff for all the clans will be at the table. You just select your amount of players through the TTS interface and then you sit at one of the spots. You can select and delete what you don't want to use.

Maybe I'll add the functionality to remove unused pieces in a future update, but they've never bothered me so it's not in there at the time.

Hey! I can't find a way to select number of players. When I load the mod all 7 clans have stuff on the map. Is there any way to tell the mod to use X players? Thanks!

The Dai-Gensui AI has had a major overhaul. It takes every upcoming war province into consideration.
