ALL Need for Speed 2015 Controller fixes (Constant braking and Twitching) (X and B buttons opening map and phone)
By matt
I have in total 4 fixes to the controller issues in Need For Speed 2015. The problems I cover are: 1. The constant braking and twitching of the car when you are driving with controller and 2. The X button opening the map and the B button opening the phone. These fixes work for both Xbox and PS4 controllers and I have both fixes in detail.

All the fixes I detail are long term solutions meaning that you should not have to constantly apply these settings each time you play.

Constant braking and twitching when trying to drive the car.
This first issue is prevalent right when you start the game as the first car has very low power and because of this you will not be able to get to the higher gears and your car will constantly brake and twitch. Sometimes the brakes will be stuck on and force you to do a burnout.

Here are 2 fixes I have for this problem which do not require you to do ridiculous things like, as i've seen in other tutorials, unplug your keyboard each time you start the game...

Let me know if this fix does not work for you.
X and B button opening the Map and Phone instead of Nitrous and Engine shutoff
This is a problem that you might not notice instantly but it is definitely prevalent in gameplay right after you unlock nitrous. I have 2 fixes for this, one is easy but not permanent and the other is fully permanent but requires you to add a file.

Once again, please let me know if these did not work. The second method requires many restarts but means you can play normally with the controller wirelessly connected.
Conclusion
I hope that these fixes helped you. Please be sure to share this guide with new players so that the player base grows this online only game.

I was very close to requesting a refund and I am sure you were as well. I was thinking of buying NFS HEAT but 2015's graphics are still better than HEAT's graphics so I decided to fix the game instead of switching :)

If this guide helped you please consider upvoting it or giving it an award so that others can find the fixes to the problem that we just solved. Thanks!

I magically got both the problems above after having played the game without issue.
I thought it was my new keyboard but using the old keyboard again didnt work. In the end I found a fix.
Go to:
Steam>Settings>Controller and uncheck all except "Guide Button Focuses Steam" (might not matter). But after restarting steam I no longer constantly acc. or brake and my handbrake is X again. I use a Xbox X-controller.
It worked fine on NFS Payback, so wierd it didnt on NFS 2015.
Was driving me crazy, now I can go back to working on Gold Plated and suffer xD

Does it help for a DualSense PS5 controller? Is unplayable with this game, the left joystick also works to accelerate and reverse, plus the car doesn't go faster than 60 Mph for some reason, and the the "B" button which is suppose to be "O" in the PS5 doesn't always do the same, I can't use it to go back. Is the only game I have where this controller doesn't work properly
