Wurt guide made by wurt simp

Some guide to help you learn Wurt even though everyone thinks she is garbage early game.

Getting into Wurt.

First to get Wurt you need to simp and spend a load of spools on her or just buy her from the shop.

The art of rushing king.

This is the part of the main game that can determine how fast you set up and how useful your Wurt will be to others. The way to rush a merm king is completely up to you but this is how I do it. You first need to rush the science machine and alchemy engine and keep the alchemy engine pre built and ready to place normally in swamp if you plan to base there or somewhere you plan to remove turf and set up your merm fortress. Then once you rush alchemy you should start on boat science with your science machine this will allow you to make the key components a boat an anchor and 2 paddles usually. Then once you make this you should rush lunar. Remember rushing lunar normally needs a couple of shovels and maybe a pickaxe if you plan to get food from there alone DO NOT EAT KELP.

To find lunar there are 3 methods 1 of which is considered cheating in a sense.
first method is the most realistic with a team. Using woody to scout the entire map with his weregoose.
Second method is scouting the map with a boat normally with some sails.
Third method which is considerably cheating so you probably shouldn't do this even though I use it is a client mod called the observer camera. This mode allows you to press your arrow keys to increase your screen size and decrease. You can press P to move to your mouse so you can spam to look around the map and press R to return to your character.

Now if you made it to lunar you should try and get any kelp stalks from the beach to help you get your kelp for the merm kings carpet also make sure to look around for any kelp in the ocean incase you dont have enough. you need 20 to do so . You should also shovel as many rock berry bushes as possible to fuel you through winter and your merm king .

once you have done that all you need to do is go back home shave 5 beefalo for 15 beefalo fur
hammer 5 pig heads for 10 pig skin or their houses. Finally make the merm kings DIY carpet and put in the resources to build.

Once the carpet is down get a merm nearby and feed him 50 hunger worth of food you can eat.

After this you just rush merm fighters and maybe some winter clothing and you are good.


Bonus tip: If you are bad at kiting like me you can use your fighter merms as choppers in winter and stock up tree guardians to fight against the bosses.

How to heal and survive summer even more braindead as wurt.

Okay so if you place spider eggs near swamp ponds you afk farm mosquito sacks which you can fill at a pond for water balloons to cool you down and make you wet or you can use them as healing. You can also put spider eggs near your fighter merms to farm silk and glands.

Basic tips and tricks

Some of these tips and tricks are nice to know in your hostile environment !
Remember that if you go wurt you can survive off of 18 bull kelp stalks alone since you don't take any of the negative stats and they feed you as well as carrots! This is because they grow every 3 days and you only need 6 per day!

Also remember that your character is a late game power house. You can chop/mine way faster than most people and you can fight off most creatures for your team! | maybe even put a price on it |Which you should provide for your team in any time of need!

Remember since you can't trade with pig king you cant really get gold later game without a friend and will most likely rely on flint

As wurt remember that you gain 33% more hunger form foods you can eat!

You can also use bunnymen to eat all winter if you need too !

your mask can help others tame normal merms and trade with merm king and feed him This can also be used to give to Wortox and webber if they dont hold and meat so they can tame bunnymen and use their farms !

Also remember that merm wars can be started if there are enough merms around to start a fight. All you have to do is feed 1 merm a seed or kelp or anything that they eat to produce mass amounts of fish which you can make fish sticks or surf and turf or sell these fish to kings to make even more profit!


Remember if there is a wurt and a warly on your team they can provide Fish Cordon Bleu which can keep your entire team dry for spring !

if your king is down you can make normal merms hostile to players without a mask to protect your base DO NOT USE THIS TO GRIEF ON A NON PVP SERVERS this is just a way to keep your base safe if you need to protect your stuff.

Finally remember that you can kill dragonfly by walling off all her larvae ponds and using around 27 fighters merms but I would use 30 to be safe! Also remember you can kill bee queen with 30 fighter merms.

Things you should NOT do as wurt!

These are things I see way too often that happens in public servers. This includes

Placing merm king in a walkable distance of merms so the merms can see kelp and will eat it.

placing merms in/near base(you can guess what happens when a wurt leaves and all the masks spoil and how well the king fights off his hunger)

You should try not to use winter to kill your fighter merms if you have any (This is because winter is a stupidly long respawn time of 6 days which means you aren't gaining nearly as much as you could be so chopping might be a better idea to prepare for your BEST season which is spring!)

Finally do not make your own mini economy or swamp shop like ive did AND HOARD ITEMS this causes natural resources to sometimes plumet for your team so you kind of kill the game.

Total resource haul and where those resources go.

5 gold 80-81 logs 25 rocks 24 grass 15 beefalo fur 20 kelp 10 pig skin

1 gold + 4 rocks + 4 logs = t1 science
4 gold +12 rocks + 16 logs = t2 science
16 logs = boat science
16 logs= boat
8 logs+ 9 rocks + 9 grass= anchor kit
20 logs + 15 grass = Diy royalty carpet BUILDING PHASE
2-3 logs= paddles
15 beefalo fur + 20 kelp +10 pig skin + Diy royalty carpet BUILDING PHASE = Merm king carpet

Remember THIS DOES NOT COVER THE COST OF UTILITIES.

What to do after king?

Mostly after king you want to spam down as many fighter merms as possible to try and chop for winter

fighter merm buildings cost 20 logs 6 grass 4 twigs 2 flint and 1 tentacles spot(which merm king trades tentacle spots)

It can be helpful to sometimes place some craftsmerm houses so your teamates can hire them for chopping or to start a merm war themselves. Cost is 16 logs 3 reeds and 2 live fish.


Also after winter do not be afraid to use your number of merms to kill non aoe bosses like moosegoose and antlion. Just make sure for antlion you bring some healing and 2 football helmets if you have around 20 merms to kill her quickly.

Finally if you really want to do something I call slaughtering ruins you can place some merms in the caves and hire a bunch of a long hiring time and start beating everything in the ruins.

One last thing

People say bunnymen replace wurts merms in fighting. This would be correct if she couldnt tame bunnymen. Wurt is able to tame both bunnymen and merms so you might aswell throw their hopes and dreams away with your exponential growth of merms reason why this is true is because you only need to kill 7.14285714286 merms to get a tentacle spot from merm king for your fighter merms or you only need to kill 2 to make a normal merm house. meanwhile they have to kill 16 bunnymen on average to get 4 bunnypuffs for their buildings.


Oh also bunnymen do have higher dps than merms in low/moderate numbers but if you like to swarm bosses with unreal amounts of merms it actually does more dps because the merms try to kite which allows more merms to get an attack.

Wurt main here, I have the following question, is it better to rush Kelps in autumn with a friend, building a full equipped boat? It can be a stupid question, and maybe it is, but a friend that was a former wurt main died in the sea twice, because of the sharks and mostly the salt fishes (now plays wanda) so, is it better to farm Kelps after winter? Still, I farm some Kelps using the boats that friends build to quickly move between the biomes that are near kelp plants, it's not much tho, 5 or maybe 8 every 3 days

i believe there is a world generation quirk where if you ssee 2 flat edges near eachother they point towards the lunar island (maybe include this) and you have a chance of finding it from messages in bottles

and for healing when u gather logs at the start chop birchnut trees and stockpile 2 stacks of nuts for all of winter, spring, and summer; 2 berry 1 twig 1 roasted birchnut makes a 30 hp dish
tents like with wormwood also work really well and as wurt ur full of silk too

u can use monster meat to make into eggs, 3 eggs 1 berry is fistful of jam which are discount "vegan" meatballs at 50 hunger for wurt and slower spoilage; u dont even need ice or anything if you have spider farms set up, a wendy or are playing solo
