Derail Valley Keyboard Controls

This small guide shows you the default keyboard controlls, as well as show you how to remap them.

Default controls

Controls book

After completing the tutorial, you can spawn in a booklet with the default controls in it, like in the above image.

1. Go to the main menu
   
2. Press Settings
   
   
3. Press Controls
   
4. Press Show controls to spawn in the booklet
   

Changing the controls

You can change the controls by editing the GamePreferences.ini file located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Derail Valley\DerailValley_Data\SaveGameData

Scroll down to the Non-VR_KeyBindings section.
Here you can change the keys to whatever you like.

Newer keybind config file location is:

C:/Users/%USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/Altfuture/Derail Valley/Preferences/000_Player.ini

In case someone goes looking :). Not sure why we don't have the ability to edit keys as of the simulator update.

I totally learned by mistake that
Period and Slash deal with coupling.

Shunting,
cargo first in front.
Had to slowdown fast,
" Oh shit! "
pressed decouple by accident.
Pressed braking key, then
slammed the brakes,
" Oh, shit "

Thanks, i must be blind to not see the controls booklet :D I hope they implement a way to customize the controls ingame soon :)
