How to easily get the golf cart in Terraria

This guide will teach you a fast way to score 2000 golf points in Terraria so you can buy the Golf Cart Keys from the golfer.

Starting with basics

The golf cart is a 'mount' bought from the golfer town NPC after scoring 2000 points in golf and defeating Skeletron. The mount can achieve 41 MPH and can run over monsters and critters damaging them, but cannot negate fall damage.


The score is accumulated simply by playing golf and its formula is based on the total distance the golf cup is from your starting point and the amount of strokes you did during the play.
Score = (Total Distance / 16) / (Strokes + 2)

It may take a long time to achieve that amount of points normally, so we'll use a quick, early method to achieve that.

First, of course. You need to find the golfer NPC in the underground desert biome. It's recommended to use Hunter Potion to find him. He's also detected by the lifeform analyser.

Now the cheesy method

To quickly achieve 2000 score, you must dig the hellevator. You may end up digging it anyways. Remember, the golf cart is a post-skeletron item, so no need to rush in digging it without proper equipment. But anyways.

After digging the hellevator, you must buy the following items from the golfer:
◦Worn Golf Club (Putter)
◦Golf Ball
◦Three or four Golf Cup
◦Golf Tee (optional)

At the start of the hellevator, place the golf ball on the golf tee, and use your putter in a way that the ball falls straight into the hellevator, and at the bottom of the hellevator, place the cups in a way that would be impossible to miss them

(As suggested by mmmthatsnice24, you could play golf from space and let the ball fall in the hellevator, reaching the cups in the underworld.)




And that's it. Repeat the process about 7 times. (Or more, depending on the size of your world. The bigger it is, the more points you will achieve per play)

You can't see how much you've scored, but you can see your progression by checking the golfer's shop. In each milestone, he sells a new trophy and fancier golf clubs. If he's selling the Gold Golf Trophy, then that means you've achieved the 2000 points.

Side Notes

If the golfer NPC is selling the Gold trophy but not the cart key, that means Skeletron has not been defeated in this world.


The score is accumulated by player, not by world. That means, in multiplayer, the player with 2000 points can see and buy the new items from the golfer, but a player with no points cannot see or buy the new items.

The Golf Cart Keys costs 45 gold coins if the golfer's happiness is neutral.
Jumping-Bottles works on it as well.
