Installing the 4gb Patch
By Twick
It took me forever to finally find a fix for this issue, and the fix I found came from the Steam Community, so I figured I would create this guide as a way to give back.

A huge issue with Risen on Steam is that DRM protocols prevent the game from being able to be patched to handle higher amounts of memory. This has caused issues with users being able to use mods, or even being able to launch the game.

To correct this, download this patch: https://www.worldofrisen.de/download_91.htm

Open the EXE and install per the directions.

This patch will strip all of the DRM restrictions from your Steam installation of the game, thus enabling the next patch to be installed.

Once the client closes, download NTCore's 4gb patch (https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371). Run the EXE. When prompted, find your Risen.exe, and select to proceed with patching.

This patch bolsters the memory load of Risen, thus allowing you to potentially launch the game (if you weren't able to previously) and also allowing you to mod the game to your heart's content.

Fin.

Yeah, no need to patch anymore. 4GB Fix is for old 32-bit executables. New Risen is 64-bit.

Risen is 64bit now. So 4g patch is useless
Is it still relevant for the updated Risen?

@Gene No, it Means the game won't crash because of insufficient RAM.

Anyway, thanks!!
