Every evolution tree is defined by longest evolutionary chain in it, with side branches referencing original tree, but not including original branching point on tree.

This guide references version Beta 0.31.
Common Ancestor
  1. [T0] Flatworms:
    • Sponges in vivarium
    • No other animals in vivarium
Flatworms have two main evolutionary paths - ability for better underwater movement, and improved defense. Plants that are over 3 nodes tall act as evolutionary vector for improved swimming, while simple leafs not providing any protection result in emerging of more defensively oriented animals.
Mammals Tree
  1. [T1] Fishes:
    • Flatworms feeding on tall, simple leaf plants
  2. [T2] Amphibians:
    • Fishes feeding on crustaceans
As all other Tier 1 animal orders, fishes have only single evolutionary path. With enough hunting near substrate, specimens with limbs will quickly emerge as apex predators. However, horseshoe crabs are too armored, and slugs too hidden to become successful selection vectors, so instead maintain healthy population of crustaceans for amphibians to emerge.
Insects Tree
  1. [T1] Crustaceans:
    • Flatworms feeding on tall, complex leaf plants
  2. [T2] Silverfishes:
    • Crustaceans feeding on low, complex leaf plants
With emerging, bloodlust predators, only evolutionary path for crustaceans leads back to the ground. Not capable of swimming away from fishes in open spaces, and much more squishy then horseshoe crabs, smaller size and better camouflage are necessary to sustain a population that one day might reach more friendly dry land. Any short, leafy plants will be good source of energy until then.
Spiders Tree
  1. [T1] Horseshoe Crabs:
    • Flatworms feeding on low, simple leaf plants
  2. [T2] Sea Scorpions:
    • Horseshoe crabs feeding on slugs
Those tanks might be pretty happy with form they achieved, becoming ultimate, indestructible rulers of their small ecological niche, but with enough soft, tasty slugs around, the best defense becomes offense. While not for long, sea scorpions emerge, with wider tail capable of offensive use and proper front claws - will become the underwater rulers, and ancestors to one of most feared evolutionary trees.
Snail Tree
  1. [T1] Slugs:
    • Flatworms feeding on low, complex leaf plants
  2. [T2] Sea Snails:
    • Slugs feeding on low, simple leaf plants
While camouflage is well working tactic in stable, safe environment packed with leafs, there is still a lot of space to expand for ground feeders not scared of predators in very visible feasting spots. Available food in form of plants with simple leafs is enough for slugs to slowly harden their little breathing tentacles into safe, calcium shells, and emerge into sea snails.
