Orokin catalysts double the mod capacity of all weapons including: Primary, Secondary, Melee, Arch-Weapons and Sentinel Weapons.
Orokin reactors double the mod capacity of Warframes, Archwings and Companions.
Weapons bought with platinum form the Market come with a pre-installed catalyst and weapon slot.
Warframes and companions bought with platinum from the Market come with an orokin reactor already installed and a warframe slot.
Once a catalyst or reactor is installed it can not be removed.
They are often referred to as potatoes due to their similar shape.

0:18 Built Acquisition
A single catalyst or reactor costs 20 platinum from the Market.
Catalysts and Reactors are often ranking up rewards in Nightwave.
Catalysts and Reactors can be bought for 75 Nightwave credits each.
Completing a Fomorian or a Razorback invasion will grant one pre-made catalyst.
Inbox drops from watching dev streams live on Twitch.
Certain milestone numbers of logins (day 50, 100, 250, 300, 350, 500, 550, 650, 700, 950).

1:26 Blueprint Acquisition 
Catalysts and Reactors blueprints are rare rewards from the sortie (2.50%)
Gift from the Lotus alerts are active for 24hrs following the fortnightly dev stream.
Catalysts and Reactors blueprints can be battle pay rewards for taking part in invasions.

1:57 Blueprint Requirements
Build costs of a catalyst are; 25,000 credits, 1 morphic, 1 gallium, 1 control module and 1 orokin cell. They take 23hrs to build and cost 10 platinum to rush.
Build costs of a reactor are; 35,000 credits, 1 morphic, 1 neurode, 1 neural sensor and 1 orokin cell. They take 23hrs to build and cost 10 platinum to rush.

2:13 Installation
in the mod menu for any equipped Warframe, Weapon, Companion, Archwing, Arch-Weapon or Sentient weapon, press the action button in the lower right of the screen.
Once in the actions menu press the upgrade button to install a catalyst/reactor. The mod point capacity of this item is doubled.
