Overview
Controlling a simulated dirt bike using a gamepad requires skill, and can be challenging at first. The first and most crucial step to feeling comfortable out on track is having a setup that works for you.
MXB provides many input settings that allow you to tweak your controller response and create a personal setup that will enable you to feel more confident and go faster.

The input visualiser on the bottom right of Settings>Input allows you to see the effects of your control changes as you make them.
Hold the desired control so that it shows up on the visualiser and change the settings to see the effect on the input.

If you assigning an analogue control to a button, you can enable Smooth and set the Press and Release speeds.
Lean Input
Once you disable Lean Help (Settings > Simulation > Riding Aids) you will have up to around 90 degrees of lean angle on a tiny gamepad thumbstick. Maximising this control's response is absolutely vital.

To begin with, adjust your Deadzone so that the thumbstick doesn't wobble in the centre position. You want to adjust the deadzone as low as possible while not getting unwanted inputs.

The next setting to adjust is Direct Lean. This controls how quickly the bike will return to upright when you let go of the stick (0 = no return, 100 = quick return). It's purely a personal preference. Start at around 25 and see what setting feels best.

Now, adjust the Linearity. Try a high setting to begin with. Increasing the linearity will enable you to make quick directional changes while having more accuracy at higher lean angles. Decreasing will do the opposite.

The last refinement you can make to lean is the Gain. If you are falling a lot it might be worth reducing the gain, sacrificing some maximum lean angle for more control.
Throttle
As with the lean, you should check the Deadzone. Make sure the throttle isn't registering on the input visualiser at rest position.

Now press full throttle, and check that it fills the bar on the visualiser and is stable. If it isn't hitting the max, or wobbling, then increase the Gain a little.

Now, adjust the Linearity to adjust the throttle at the half-open position. You'll want it to feel like half way on the gamepad, and around halfway on the visualiser. Up to around 40% is recommended.
Front Brake
Check the front brake Deadzone to make sure it's not dragging.
The front brake is powerful, so you should consider reducing the Gain a little so that you can grab it without flying over the bars, but not so much that it starts to impact stopping power.

Enabling Combined Brakes will add some rear brake input along with the front, and is highly recommended. Note that you can still assign and use the rear brake independently.
Try using a very low combined Max setting, to just add a small amount of rear brake. Holding the front brake input while adjusting the combined brakes sliders will show you visually what the rear brake is doing.

You shouldn't normally need to adjust the linearity for the front brake, as a linear braking response is desirable.
Rear Brake
Unlike the front, the rear brake doesn't need much in the way of accuracy. You just need to be able to stamp on it when needed, so it might be a good idea to increase the Linearity to give it more response, and reduce the Gain a little so it doesn't send you backwards into the corner.
Summary
The key here is Testing. Spend some time on a familiar track in Testing mode and keep adjusting the control settings until you find something that feels right. The default settings probably aren't ideal for you so it's worth spending a little time getting a personalised set up.

Once you can hit your lines and do consistent laps, you can start practicing your scrubs!

Have not played this game over 80 hours!!! It's not fun. I don't like constantly testing, adjusting, mapping everything to just be wrecked in the first turn of every race.My biggest disappointment of 2024 was buying this game.
