How to keep the game from crashing in Windows 7

Fix for game crashing in Windows 7.

Locate exe. Apply fix.

You will be able to find your Assassin's Creed folder in steam\steamapps\common\Assassins Creed\

Right click on AssassinsCreed_Dx10.exe and choose "properties."
Go to the compatibility tab and check the "Run this program in compatibility mode" box and select Windows Vista from the list. Hit OK. That's it.


This fixed my crashing problem and hopefully yours as well.

This is one of the buggiest games I've ever played as far as random crashes go. For me (on my Win 7 Pro box), booting it up with directx 9 seems to have calmed it t.f. down...so far.

One other thing I remember: 3 years ago when I run this game in my old PC, I started running the game at 1600x900, and the game had constant crashes after 10 or 15 minutes. Then I switch the resolution to 1920x1080, which was the native resolution of my monitor, then the crases stopped. Maybe the game has problems if it's not running at native resolution? (my old PC was an Intel core 2 duo with GTX550ti)

I'm running the game ok from some days ago without crashes, windows 7 64 ultimate. I have an 21:9 Ultrawide monitor, then I did a search on pcgamingwiki dot com, and it's link to wsgf dot org assassins creed page. There is some zip files (blackbars fix) that provides two alternative binaries for using in substition. With these binaries, game is running flawless at 2560x1080 (21:9 ultrawide). To use my xbox 360 wireless for PC, I need to applyt the x360ce fix too.
