WolfQuest: AE™ Mates/Courtship Tips & Tricks
By Faelan_Lupis
Here I will be going over the basics of how to find and court an opposite sex dispersal wolf. This will be reviewing the basics of where to look, how to interact with potential mates, and how to impress a mate during the "Trail Period." This would most likely be of use to beginner as well as veteran players who may just need a refresher. ((DISCLAIMER: This guide may contain spoilers/slightly offensive content. Discretion is advised.))

Learn to Hunt Quest
Hunting Basics Quest
When you begin the game on Amethyst Mountain, you will receive a pop-up informing you that you must kill two elk of any age/sex prior to beginning your search for a mate. For this I advise that you refer to other guides & references.
Finding Dispersal Wolves
Locating a Potential Mate

Once you have taken down your second elk, you will receive a second pop-up informing you that you are now able to court opposite sex dispersal wolves.

Where to look
1. Dispersal "No Man's Land"~ Here you will most likely find the most dispersing wolves from packs outside of the map. ((e.g Beartooth Dispersal Wolves, Hoodoo Dispersal Wolves, Cinnabar Dispersal Wolves, ect.))
2. Borders/edges of Pack Territories~ Here are likely to encounter wolves dispersing from the three on-map wolf packs. This is more risky than the previously suggested option, as you are likely to run into hostile pack wolves.
3. Remember-- they are wolves too. What I mean by this is, look where wolves, realistically, would be. Of course, dispersal wolves will often appear waiting for you after sleeping, so, sleep in areas that wolves logically would be traveling through.
Choosing who to Court
How to successfully Determine who is Worth Courting

Once you have located eligible wolves, you must next court them. Remember to keep in mind Diversity Stars, displayed at the bottom of the potential mate pop-up tab.
These stars will determine your pup's health in the future, if you are to become mates. This should play a strong part in your decision in if you are to court this wolf.
How to Gain the Trust of Dispersal Wolves
Gaining a Dispersal Wolf or Wolf Pack's Trust
Once you have chosen who you wish to court, you must first gain their trust.
This is achieved through friendly emotes using the Courtship Emote Panel. ((e.g play bows, wagging tail, grinning, ect.))
Once you have convinced the wolf(ves) that you are not a threat, you will receive this pop-up notification:

You will now be able to approach the wolf(ves).
How to Court Dispersal Wolves
Courting Dispersal Wolves
Each wolf will have at least some initial interest in you when you encounter them for the first time.
This is shown in a heart above their head, as displayed here.
It will fill up as you continue to display friendly emotes.
For best effect, I've found it helps if you court them in this general order:
∙ Tail wag/play bow at any point during the courtship, but they are I believe most effective while gaining their trust (0%+)
∙ Chin rest around 60%+ through the courtship
∙ Lick face about 75%+ through the courtship
∙ Grin anywhere after you have began the courtship (1%+)
∙ Roll 10%+ through the courtship
These are in no way to be considered as facts, these are just my personal experiences.
The Mate Trial Period
The "Trial Period"

Once you have filled the wolf's Interest Heart, you are given the option to begin the "Mate Trail Period". All other dispersal wolves from that wolf's pack (if they had one) will leave and in future encounters will be hostile competitors.
The blue Mate Affinity Bar will appear on the left of the Wolf Badge.

The heart displays your mate's health, not their interest. I've seen this mistaken a few times. The blue bar shows their interest; the heart at the bottom shows their health.
How to Fill the Mate Affinity Bar
Raising the Affinity Bar
The Affinity Bar is filled in a variety of ways, the most common being Emote Interaction. Of course, it can be filled with play bows, tail wags, rolls, ect., although there are other ways to raise your mate affinity.
One of these ways is killing prey. Depending on the prey's difficulty, your Affinity Bar will raise to differing amounts. If you kill a elk calf, for example, it will raise a very minuscule amount as compared to, for example, a bull moose.
Another way to raise the Mate Affinity is by chasing off rivals. Whether it be coyote or boar Grizzly Bear, all will increase your relationship with your mate in the form of "Victory Howls". I believe your howling will increase the Affinity more after a successful fight, though winning alone does nothing for your Affinity.
Becoming Mates
Accepting a Mate & Conclusion
Once you have filled your mate Affinity Bar, you will receive a notif allowing you to accept or decline becoming mates with that wolf. You may also extend the trail period.

After that, congrats! You have successfully gotten a mate in WolfQuest: AE! Tysm for reading this guide, it means a lot!

How to age up without raising pups over and over:
Find a mate, get pups, pick your perks, DELETE YOUR SAVE(DO NOT get attached to ANY of your pups.), finish a multi game(name it "PLEASE JOIN!" without the quotations.) and repeat over and over until you reach the age that you want or your wolf dies of old age(if you do this enough you may have a 9+ year old wolf depending if you howl, then sleep, or stay awake and find a pack wolf/track dispersals down.) I'm making a guide for this.

I think i found a way to age up fast, idk if it works now tho (Once you return to the place you started at (Not Slough creek) you wont have to kill two elk) Find a mate, Go to slough creek (Easier to go to main menu and just go to slough creek) Mark territory + Get the four dens, Once you have pups pick your new age perks, And redo (I think once you do it the second time you have to get then to 20 pounds)

I keep getting litters of 7 pups, even with my 3 star mate- how many stars does your mate have to be to only get 3 pups or 4 pups?
