This is the Encyclopedia of: Mounts. But you probably knew that from the title.
This guide will show you all the mounts. I would recommend you use this guide if you just want to travel quicker or you just want to get everything in the game. Oh yeah, by the way -

You should probably know what mounts are if you're reading this guide, but if you don't, that's completely fine. Mounts are basically just faster ways to travel anywhere. It's like using teleporters, except you don't have to do all that work. Mounts can be either baby easy or just hell.

Anyways, lets get into the main point of this.
Pre-Hardmode
Slimy Saddle
Pros: Jump higher, move faster, float in water, double falling speed, half fall damage, and can deal damage (summon damage) to enemies that are jumped on.

Cons: The "Goomba Stomp" mechanic of this mount isn't really useful, because if you're fighting more than 5 enemies, then you'll probably die.

How to Obtain: You get this by a drop by king slime, which has a 25% chance of dropping, or using a treasure bag (only in expert mode), which has a 50% chance of dropping from the bag.

Honeyed Goggles
Pros: Fast flight, auto hovers, and cancels fall damage.

Cons: Slow walking on land, dismounts in liquids (unless you have any accessories or potions that allow you to walk on water), a limited flight time, which has a height limit of about 327 blocks high.

How to Obtain: You can get this by killing Queen Bee, which only has a 5% drop rate from just killing her, but you can have a higher chance by killing her in expert mode and getting her treasure bag, which then has 11% chance of dropping. Even though it's only 6% increase, it's still the highest chance of getting those goggles.

Hardy Saddle
Pros: Fast in water.

Cons: Really slow on land. (like really, its so slow i can't comprehend how slow it is.)

How to Obtain: You get this mount by fishing for a golden crate, which is not that common to get. But the real kicker here is that form the golden crate, it only has a 10% chance of dropping from that crate. So yeah, it's kinda rare.

Fuzzy Carrot
Pros: High jumps, can speed up while running, cancels fall damage, also it's cute.

Cons: None.

How to Obtain: To get this mount you gotta just do 5 quests for The Angler. This one's really easy to get despite it being a really good mount.

Wrapping it Up
So pre-hardmode mounts are pretty good for the start of the game, especially the Honeyed Goggles and the Fuzzy Carrot, and honestly, these can really help you getting to higher places, travelling long distances, and can also help in early hardmode.
Hardmode
SPOILERS AHEAD! GO BACK IF YOU HAVENT DEFATED THE WALL OF FLESH!

You good? Good. Lets get started.

Ancient Horn
Pros: Fast movement speed, increased jump height, reduces fall damage by 80%, and can charge through enemies, inflicting summon damage.

Cons: None. (just a heads up, sense most of the hardmode mounts have no cons, im just going to completley remove the cons section for them.)

How to Obtain: To get this weapon, you have to kill the Basilisk which spawns in the Underground Desert, and has a very rare 2% chance of dropping from them. It's just a normal enemy, so no easy way out with the treasure bags.

Blessed Apple
Pros: Fast running speed, double jump, reduces fall damage by 80%, and can deal summon damage by bashing into enemies on full running speed.

How to Obtain: You obtain this mount you have to kill any enemy in The Hallow, but only has a 0.5% chance of dropping. But if you're in expert mode, the chance goes up to 0.67%. Not much bigger of a chance, but still higher.

Brain Scrambler
Pros: Fast movement speed, reduces fall damage to 1, can fire lasers at enemies automatically.

How to Obtain: You get this by killing a Scutlix Gunner, which only spawns during the Martian Madness event. The chance of getting this is only 1%, and you can't increase the chance.

Reindeer Bells
Pros: Fast running and flight, and cancels fall damage.

Cons: Limited flight time, which caps at 97 to 291 blocks high.

How to Obtain: Kill The Ice Queen, which only spawns during the Frost Moon event. This only has a 0.56% to 0.83% chance of dropping, depending on what wave you're on.

Scaly Truffle
Pros: Faster running speed, completely cancels fall damage.

Cons: Limited flight time, which caps at 109 blocks high.

How to Obtain: You have to fish in a Snow Biome which has been overtaken by the Crimson, Corruption, or The Hallow. This has a 1% chance of being caught, but you can increase by alot of different factors, like your Fishing Pole, Bait, etc.

Cosmic Car Key
Pros: Infinite flight, and, in my opinion, best mount in the game.

Cons: Cannot fly in liquids.

How to Obtain: Kill the Martian Saucer, which only spawns during the Martian Madness event. It has an 11.11% chance of dropping from the boss, which isn't that rare sense all the other drops the boss also have a 11.11% chance of dropping (excluding the trophy and the potions)

Shrimpy Truffle
Pros: Infinite flight, damage and movement bonus when in liquid, cute :)

Cons: Very slow on land.

How to Obtain: You get this by killing Duke Fishron in expert mode only. Let me repeat that, ONLY EXPERT MODE!. You don't have to grind for this though, it has an 100% chance from his treasure bag.

Drill Containment Unit
Pros: Infinite flight, can mine terrain.

Cons: Cannot hold items while using the D.C.U.

How to Obtain: This ones really makes you grind. You need:

40 Luminite Bars
40 Chlorophyte Bars
40 Shroomite Bars
40 Spectre Bars
40 Hellstone Bars
40 Meteorite Bars

And you have to craft it at either a:
Mythril Anvil
or an
Orichalum Anvil

Yeah so I guess it's hard to make.

Wrapping it Up
So hardmode mounts are so, so much better than pre-hardmode mounts. The mounts I most recommend are the Cosmic Car Keys and the D.C.U. Hardmode are the most hard mounts to get, especially the Shrimpy Truffle, solely because it's in Duke Fishron in expert mode.
Conclusion
Well you've finished the guide!
Thanks for reading it, because this is actually my first guide.
I hope to make this Encyclopedia into a series of guides.
Thanks, and goodbye!

With The slime mount i find it kind of angering Because That is not a con You will continue to jump on their Head Regardless on how many Mobs are Near As long as you dont get hit and continue to Jump on their hit box you will stay jumping it Even works with bosses and is extremely good for things like the Eow and destroyer. Since you continue to jump on them Because of their worm Ai There for I feel he Added the con For the sake of adding a con and not because it is a con
