Guide Format
This is a basic skeleton of how each character's guide looks like.

Unlock Conditions
Player: How to unlock this character to be used directly controlled by the player.
Partner: How to unlock this character to be used controlled by the AI as a partner.
*(DLC-Only) is appended if the character requires DLC to be unlocked as playable in that format.

Player Abilities
Stats
Every player has a base HP and base Power level. All players have an HP growth rate of 2 ~ 8, with the sole exception of Kasen who has 4 ~ 16.
Effects & Characteristics
This is blank for the majority of characters. For ones that do have anything, it usually is a variant of one of the partner version's Effect or Characteristics.
Danmaku
Almost all danmaku follows the same cost pattern, with Lv.1 costing 1 P, Lv. 2 costing 3 P, Lv. 3 costing 5 P, and Lv. 4 costing 10 P.
Note that B is shorthand for Bombardment level, attained from the Bombardment seal. This usually increases the range, hit count, and/or potency. For example, a range of 10 + (B / 2) means that the attack has a range of 10 squares with an additional square for every two Bombardment levels. A range of (5 + B/5)x3 means that the attack hits 5 squares in length and 3 in width, increasing in length by 1 square per every 5 B. Division is floored for the sake of readability; round down the decimal numbers to reach the actual values (such as 2.8 to 2.0).

Any additional effects.
Danmaku Effect
Some danmaku such as Suwako's Jump are so complex that an entire section needs to be dedicated to them outside of the table.
Spell Cards
Each character besides Reimu and Satori have 2 spell cards exclusive to them. Reimu has 3 with the third unlocked after enough progress while Satori can use any character's spell cards. Any seals and their numerical values are listed underneath, although the effects of each seal is outside the scope of this guide.

Partner Abilities
Stats
Every partner has a base HP, an HP growth rate as they level up, a base Power level, and a Power growth rate. The HP growth rate is approximated from values at Lv. 1, Lv. 99, and Lv. 9999. The Power growth rate increases a partner's Power by 1 on specific levels, and some grow slower than others, especially Cirno and Aya. Since the Power growth is often shared by characters, a letter is used to indicate what pattern it follows, which can be found in the Appendix.
Aid
All partners have one Aid ability that's essentially a basic danmaku shot. Triggered sometimes when the player is nearby and the enemy is in range (and usually when the partner does not have to move).
Attack
Attacks are Spell Cards and other attacks the partner can use instead of standard attacks against an enemy. These generally hit a wide area or the entire room.
Effect
These do not directly inflict damage, but rather cause status effects on the opponent. Relatively rare.
Support
Support skills in general give the player or partner beneficial status effects. A few have unusual mechanics such as stealing items or increasing experience earned.
Characteristics
This section details if the partner has built-in passives, such as movement, damage reduction or negation, or other abilities.
Flavor
Does not affect gameplay.
Ability Effect
Some partner abilities require tables or additional space to fully explain them.

Analysis (Player)
An analysis of the player character. Usually, only their danmaku matters between characters.

Analysis (Partner)
An analysis of the partner character.

Notes
Extraneous notes about the character.
Reimu Hakurei
Reimu Hakurei is the usual protagonist of the Touhou series along with Marisa Kirisame. Despite saving the entire land of Gensokyo many times over, nobody comes to her shrine to donate. This makes Reimu grumpy.

Unlock Conditions
Player: Obtained at the very beginning of the game.
Partner (DLC-Only): Clear the Clock Remains DLC.

Aid
  • Yin-Yang Shot: Support danmaku. Damages an enemy.
Attack
  • Divine Arts "Dragon-Slayer": 3x3 Box around Reimu. Similar to player spell card.
  • Divine Spirit "Fantasy Seal": Room AoE, damages all enemies.
  • "Fantasy Nature": Triggers once per floor when at <25% HP and when 5 or more enemies are in sight. For Reimu, fully heals HP and gives Float, Protection, the ability to evade almost any attack, the Spread Amulet counterattack, and transparency + aura graphics. If her HP reaches 0 by means such as an enemy Flandre's Laevateinn, her HP is set to 1 instead. Lasts 100 turns, 10 on a boss floor.
  • Spread Amulet: Fantasy Nature mode only. When hit by a melee or danmaku attack (including the player's), retaliates with an 8-way 3 range danmaku attack that doesn't hit allies. Retaliates on each hit with multi-hit attacks. The danmaku does not affect Yuuka and Meiling as it is considered normal danmaku.
Characteristics
  • Sake Lover: Same effect as the Sake Lover seal. When Drunk, nullifies accuracy reduction and increases the damage of critical hits.
  • Capable of flying: Same effect as the Float seal. When Float, increases the chance of evading normal attacks and increases the damage Reimu deals with normal attacks.
  • I like money. I like money. I like money.: Unlisted in English due to space constraints. Reimu's HP recovers when hit by money, which can be added to the inventory by swapping it with another item. It still makes the sound effect as if she took damage, however.

Analysis (Player)
You'll end up using Reimu most of the game, not because you necessarily like her but because you're locked into using her for the first clears of many of the dungeons. Her danmaku is relatively speaking very basic, with only her Sealing Needle notable compared to others. She can change costumes as both a Player and a Partner, however.

Analysis (Partner)
The DLC and partner-only version of Reimu is quite a bit better, benefiting from the useful Sake Lover and having a weird emergency heal. Her Fantasy Nature is definitely a useful emergency tool; assuming you can set up the activation conditions, Reimu becomes invincible and can deal serious damage to enemies. Her awful HP growth is the only downside.

Notes
  • Fantasy Nature (or Fantasy Heaven) in the Touhou canon uses Reimu's "ability to float" to float away from reality, resulting in her becoming untouchable; her sprite becomes transparent in this game when she does so (and she also gets a golden aura like the optional Sanae Kochiya boss battle in Bullet Reporter).
  • Reimu can change between four different outfits in Kasen's dojo:
    • Hakurei Maiden Outfit: Unlocked at the beginning of the game.
    • Hakurei Maiden Outfit (Sage): Unlocked after progress through the main story. (?)
    • Santa Claus Outfit: DLC-only.
    • Skirted Bikini: DLC-only.
Futo Monobe
Mononobe no Futo is the Stage 5 boss of Ten Desires and a Taoist shikaisen serving Toyosatomimi no Miko and annoying Soga no Tojiko to death. Literally.

Unlock Conditions
Player: Locked as player during Futo Monobe and the 7 Trials, available freely afterwards upon completion.
Partner: Available at the beginning of the game after the tutorial.

Analysis (Player)
Futo is much more useful as a player than a partner. All of her danmaku can inflict ailments, her Lv. 4 basically shuts down single targets, and she benefits from Bombardment on all of her danmaku.

Analysis (Partner)
You'll end up using Futo very often since she's story locked, but her Feng Shui Art gets less useful in higher level dungeons.

Notes
    Satori Komeiji
Satori Komeiji is the Stage 5 boss of Subterranean Animism, the owner of Utsuho Reiuji and Rin Kaenbyou, and the elder sister of Koishi Komeiji. Satori is also a Satori, the species. How creative.

    • Heart "Camera-Shy Rose": Damages all enemies in room. Grants Optical Camo to player and partner for a duration based on Satori's level, lasting 1 turn at <25, 2 turns at <50, and 3 turns at 50 and beyond. Note that Eye Drops negate this.
    Effect
    • Memory "Terrible Souvenir": Gives 2 out of 5 random status effects to an enemy with a 2-square "splash" around them that also inflicts status effects on other enemies. Can inflict Sleep 5, Confused 5, Bound 5, Blind 5, or Power Seal 5.

    Analysis (Player)
Memory, "--------" can be extremely powerful or useful depending on what spell cards you use. Abuse it as much as possible.

    Analysis (Partner)
She's fairly average statswise, but Heart "Camera-Shy Rose" does grant Optical Camo in a pinch. Unlike Futo, Memory "Terrible Souvenir" can activate at any time and can easily shut down enemies.

    Notes
    • Satori's ability to use any character's spell cards references her boss battle in Subterranean Animism where she attacks with prior characters' spell cards by reading the heroine's mind.
    • Equipping a weapon with Danmaku Heal and attacking the Sandbag in the Kawagoe Safe House where Nitori resides enables Satori to endlessly use spell cards. This includes spell cards with effects on items such as Power Boost "Ara-Mitama", Guard Boost "Saki-Mitama", Doom Dispel "Sardine Head", Expand "Release of Pylorus", and others.
    Kokoro Hata
Hata no Kokoro is the final boss of Hopeless Masquerade and a menreiki, a being comprised of many masks. Probably the most likely to win a poker tournament, if she knew how to play in the first place.

    Flavor
    • And she's cute (IMPORTANT)

    Analysis (Player)
Kokoro seems to want to chain her danmaku attacks together. Beware of Delighted Lion Mask burning everything, including items; for the same reasons as Flandre, this is extremely dangerous around shopkeepers, as they may attack.

Random buffs from Four Humors are appreciated.

    Rei'sen
Rei'sen, also known as Reisen II to distinguish her from the much more popular Reisen Udongein Inaba, is a Lunarian moon rabbit serving under the Watatsuki sisters in Silent Sinner in Blue. Huh, what do you mean you never heard of her?!

    Player Special Characteristics

    • Cover Fire: Negates damage from Splash Seal.

    Partner Special Characteristics
    • Attacks: Luna Light Cannon, Summon Moon Rabbits
    • Luna Light Cannon: After a two turn charge time with no other actions taken, fires a 5x∞ piercing laser in direction of target enemy or in the direction Rei'sen was last hit.
    • Summon Moon Rabbits: Summons ally versions of enemy moon rabbits similar to the Alice's Summon Doll and Rei'sen's own Sortie! Mecha-Rabbit. The number called increases every 25 levels, up to a maximum of 4. Enemies defeated by ally moon rabbits give 1.0x character experience and 0.5x equipment experience.
    • Watatsuki Sisters' Pet: Negates Watatsuki no Toyohime's instant death fan attack.
    • Cover Fire: Negates damage from Splash Seal.

    Analysis (Player)
Rei'sen has rather strange but useful danmaku. Her Lv. 1 acts differently compared to others, her Lv. 2 has instant kill and pierce, her Lv. 3 is one of two ways to steal from enemies and can be used as an escape tactic, and both of her Lv. 4 danmaku involving Mecha-Rabbit are some of the strongest in the game. In hallway fights, the Mecha-Rabbit can easily block off an enemy to allow Rei'sen to escape.

    Analysis (Partner)
Rei'sen summons multiple moon rabbits each floor. Unless you play as Alice, this will be the only way to get additional party members (and if you are, you have an army that resembles what's possible in the currently Japanese-only sequel). The moon rabbits can be used as bait if needed.

    Notes
    • Along with Daiyousei, Rei'sen is one of the most obscure characters in this game, originating from only a single manga book. Fans debate whether her hair is blue or purple still.
    • Her Lightning Steal attack is from exactly two pages in Silent Sinner in Blue where she quickly nabs her Lunar Veil from Reimu.
    Kasen Ibaraki
Kasen Ibaraki is the protagonist of the manga book Wild and Horned Hermit, often lecturing Reimu and dispensing sagely advice. Oh, and she is definitely not an oni disguising as a hermit. The idea is absurd.

    • Knowledge of Animals: Currently unknown
    • Heavy Drinker: When Drunk, the accuracy reduction is smaller and the ATK boost larger.

    Analysis (Player)
Kasen gets doubled HP on each level up. In dungeons where you can save your progress (including your HP level!), she is extremely useful since she is the only player character to gain increased stats on levelup. That is, level up with Kasen, then once a boss is reached, switch to another character after exiting the dungeon.
Otherwise for Kasen herself, she hits incredibly hard with her danmaku from the get-go.

    Analysis (Partner)
Kasen is useful against Animal-type enemies and leveling up quickly, if I understand Sage Training correctly. Get her Drunk to inflict serious damage on enemies, although she may need to get in range first.

      • Atomic Fire, "Nuclear Excursion": Triggers on 6+ enemies present. Recovers all HP and power, grants Regenerate & Protection 300, immunity to explosions, and ability to use Great Fireball, Abyss Nova, Giga Flare, and Nuclear Heat Visor
      • Great Fireball: 3x3 splash damage when target is struck.
      • Nuclear Heat Visor: Blocks the next three ranged attacks on Utsuho and the player.
      • Satori's Pet: Currently unknown, likely to not do anything

      Analysis (Player)
In a pinch, Nuclear Reaction Dive when used from X-Mode can escape nearly any situation no matter how bad it is, However, great caution must be exerted that Utsuho make it to the stairs in time, lest she end up at half health with a smorgasbord of annoying ailments and also possibly without her partner. Hell Flame is surprisingly useful and cheap in Pandemonium due to its range of effect.
Although a max power Nuclear Excursion is exciting in theory, in practice it is extremely hard to obtain, due to needing very powerful Bombardment + 15 and Saving +50% blue seals found in 99 floor dungeons. Danmaku Heal also makes obtaining X-Mode easier, but its 90+% variants are also found in 99 floor dungeons.

      Analysis (Partner)
Utsuho is built like a tank. With her powerful buffs and HP growth, she really shouldn't be able to die easily, such as from exploding Patchouli.

      Notes
      • There's a word limit for sections?

      Soga's Heavenly Ringing
This is chain lightning to adjacent enemies with an infinite amount of chaining (think of it as a line of people holding hands and one person touches a high voltage line that shocks everyone). Initially spreads from a 3x3 box around Tojiko. Doesn't strike the same enemy twice. Reduction is 10% per each chain with a cap of 80% of the original 75% potency; each B shrinks the reduction by 1% and fully negates it at 10 B (it remains at 100% potency throughout every chain). If a partner is in range of the blast, they instead have one harmful effect removed and replaced with either Double Speed 6, Superstrong 6, or Regenerate 11. Range does not changed based on B, contrary to in-game.

      Player Special Characteristics

      Partner Special Characteristics
      • Somewhat low HP growth
      • Attacks: Electric Shock Arrow, Grudge "Iruka's Thunder", Energizing Electric Shock
      • Energizing Electric Shock: Removes bad status ailments such as sleep or insanity and gives Enhance, Double Speed, or Regenerate.
      • Permanent Float status

      Analysis (Player)
      She can Float.
This alone makes Tojiko one of the strongest player characters. Traps are a non-issue, water terrain is always traversable, the Flight seal that boosts damage and evasion is always active, and certain types of bad terrain will be ignored. 99 floor no-equip no-partner dungeons become much easier as a result.
On the danmaku side, Soga's Heavenly Ringing is great for Pandemonium, and her Railgun is one of the strongest danmaku attacks when Bombardment seals aren't factored in. Note that her Railgun can destroy helpful terrain such as Small Shrines and Baskets, so exercise caution.

      Analysis (Partner)
Tojiko can cure the player character of some ailments should they be inflicted with any, which could potentially be a life saver as the player character being unable to act can be a death sentence. Her Float status is not as helpful as it is while being a player character, sadly.

        • Windstorm: Blows enemies within a 10 sq. straight ahead line away until they hit a wall or another character. Is a physical attack.

        Analysis (Player)
Pelting in the Dark Night is for whatever reason one of the strongest Lv. 2 danmaku attacks, able to hit enemies for massive damage and not caring about their positioning. Whirl Sign is very useful due to the number of dangerous floating enemies such as Byakuren and Flandre. Wind Sickle Veiling alleviates pressure from being surrounded, but it may not be as effective if the enemies aren't knocked back at all.

        Analysis (Partner)
Aya is honestly rather weak. Her stats are poor, and she doesn't have as useful abilities as other partners.

          Block
Block is essentially a counter move. Momiji will counterattack all attacks from the front that can deal direct HP damage, even if they miss. Additionally, she will have 50% damage reduction from all attacks and an additional 40% for attacks from the front (not the sides or back; totals 90%). Adjacent foes receive a physical counterattack in addition to possibly activating Counterattack seals while ranged receive a danmaku one. The Danmaku section in the Chronicle is misleading regarding how Momiji can counterattack; it is likely that Block was nerfed from an older version.

          Player Special Characteristics

          • Smoke Screen: Gives Sleep, Weaken, or Soften.

          Analysis (Player)
Use Block. Being able to attack multiple times per turn via counterattacks is a very powerful ability when multiple enemies gang up on Momiji; having Counterattack on Momiji in addition to using Block results in heavy damage against enemies that hit multiple times such as Chen. Otherwise in very high level dungeons, high B levels results in Momiji having some of the strongest danmaku attacks, although it is debatable whether standard attacks by that point take precedence.

          Analysis (Partner)
She's built like a tank and is good at close combat.

            Analysis (Player)
Star Ritual is one of the strongest Lv. 4 danmaku attacks in the game, severely debilitating enemies while buffing/healing Sanae and her partner. The parts about "each turn" were bolded for a good reason: they effectively prevent enemies from nullifying Sanae's buffs in the late game when enemies can easily remove buffs. It also has a very large range and does modest damage to all enemies inside at the end.

            Analysis (Partner)
Sanae can be a better medic than Tojiko by healing while also doing the same job. However, the healing amount isn't very much, especially if Cure seals are in play where most HP is gained from attacking enemies.

            Notes
            • Idling long enough without moving causes Sanae to start playing on a handheld console. She'll repeatedly lose and act dejected about it, but eventually she'll win and adopt a cheery expression.
            Suwako Moriya
Suwako Moriya is the Extra Stage boss of Mountain of Faith and the final boss of Sanae's story in Hisoutensoku. The former goddess of Moriya Shrine, she fought Kanako Yasaka many years ago until Kanako defeated her by using the almighty power of a freakin' plant vine.

Mechanically one of the weirdest moves in the game. When used, Suwako jumps off of the screen and targets an enemy straight ahead up to 4 + (B/4) squares away. Suwako "tracks" the enemy up to 3 squares away from the enemy's starting position.
After 1 turn has passed, Suwako jumps on the nearest enemy in the move's range, with a potency of [125 + (number of squares moved * 25)]% (the in-game Danmaku menu erroneously has the first term as multiplication instead of division), then Suwako lands on an adjacent square to that enemy (or teleports to a random square on the floor if there are no suitable squares).
When landing on an enemy, Suwako deals "splash" damage equal to half the equation above to enemies in a diamond pattern of size 2 + (B/7).

            Player Special Characteristics
            • Water Movement: Enables Suwako to walk on water.
            • Moisture: Receive Double Speed, Regenerate, and Superstrong for the duration Suwako is adjacent to a water tile, including Puddles generated by Horrid River Jade.
            • Curse: When attacked, randomly gives the opponent one of the following status effects: Weaken 20, Soften 20, ??? 30, Bind (Permanent), Death Curse 6, or Mouth Seal (Permanent)

            Partner Special Characteristics
            • Somewhat low HP growth
            • Attacks: Ring Toss, Lord Mishaguji, There & Back Jump Attack
            • Ring Toss: Same as normal, Beam Ring may cancel enemy debuff, need to check, Iron Ring does less hits
            • Lord Mishaguji: Damages the enemy and inflicts Weaken, Soften, Death Curse 10, or instantly kills them.
            • There & Back Jump Attack: See below.
            • Curse: Gives the target who defeated her (including the player, if the player defeated her) Death Curse 3.
            • Water Movement: Same as above.
            • Moisture: Same as above.

            There & Back Jump Attack
Besides how that nicely rhymes, this attack is actually three possible special attacks.
            • Short Range: 3 square physical attack, causes splash damage.
            • Long Range: ~5 square physical attack that can target enemies not in sight. Suwako is aerial for 2 turns. Causes heavy damage and splash damage, either chains into Continuous or Return.
            • Continuous: Executes another Long Range Jump attack, which may also chain into Continuous...
            • Return: Jumps back to the player.

            Analysis (Player)
She has Water Movement + Moisture.
Suwako becomes incredibly strong provided she is adjacent to a water tile, with options to escape with Double Speed or outright destroy every enemy with Superstrong. She can easily generate Puddle tiles using Horrid River Jade, which additionally pushes enemies back. This is just the tip of the iceberg however; on a floor primarily composed of water tiles (especially with hallways surrounded by them), Suwako essentially has permanent buffs and can freely walk anywhere on the floor, being able to escape from nearly any confrontation due to her free movement and Double Speed. The only downside is that her partner will be unable to come with her... unless it is Tojiko, and even then, Suwako's Double Speed will require waiting for Tojiko to catch up.
Her Curse ability also helps in fights by inflicting random statuses when attacked. It is relatively minor, but it helps put the RNG in your favor.
Aside from Horrid River Jade, her Ring Toss is very weak and RNG dependent, but Jump can be used to escape in non-watery hallways by leaping over enemies and hopefully appearing on the correct side of them.

            Analysis (Partner)
The above Water Movement + Moisture combination doesn't grant as many movement options when Suwako is the partner, but it makes Suwako very hard to kill when water terrain is nearby. Beware of killing her by accident; her Death Curse 3 will affect the player character too.

Since she talks informally, English fan dialogue used to end all her sentences with "ze", but I ain't seen nobody write anythin' like that today, ze!

              • Meteonic Shower: Same as before.
              • Magicannon "Final Spark": ∞x3 piercing laser.
              • Gold Steal Finger: Steals items from the enemy. Chance of stealing unique items.
              • Magic Absorber: Gives Enhance 20 to Marisa and gives Weakened 5, Bind 5, or Slowed 5 to up to 4 enemies, in addition to restoring 1 P to the player (?).
              • Mini-Hakkero: Currently unknown, possibly increases power of Marisa's two danmaku attacks.

              Analysis (Player)
Meteonic Shower is good for hitting enemies multiple times that have Super Hard status but low HP. Use Master Spark with caution; although it is the most powerful danmaku attack disregarding Bombardment, it costs a lot of P.

              Analysis (Partner)
Marisa can steal items from enemies with a chance of obtaining unique ones, similar to Rei'sen's Lightning Steal. This could potentially be used in case a particular piece of equipment is hard to find. Meanwhile, Magic Absorber allows Marisa to buff herself while debuffing the enemy, which is slightly uncommon among partners.

Alice has an unusual system as a partner where she summons three dolls that float around her (they reside on her square and move with her). They power up her moves and may be consumed when she attacks.
                • Very high base HP, low ATK growth
                • Attacks: Magic Sign "Artful Sacrifice", War Command "Dolls' War", Testing "Goliath Doll", Dolls' Pursuit Attack, Dolls' Support Magic
                • Magic Sign "Artful Sacrifice": Range of 5, straight ahead. Occasionally inflicts Weaken 20 and reduces power by 1.
                • War Command "Dolls' War": Full room attack. Inflicts Weaken 20 and Soften 20. With Doll Support, increases power and consumes a doll.
                • Testing "Goliath Doll": Range of 4x4 Box. Occasionally inflicts ???. Does not consume any dolls.
                • Dolls' Pursuit Attack: Occurs after Alice attacks. Either adds an additional attack, recovers HP, removes a status ailment, or buffs Alice for three turns with ??? and ???.
                • Doll Support Magic: Summons three dolls that float around Alice.

                Analysis (Player)
Alice has rather good danmaku. Artful Sacrifice and Little Legion is comparable to Kokoro's Mask Toss and Futo's Forward Dish Toss with more potent and probable effects, while Shanghai Doll is a direct upgrade over Reimu's Sealing Needle. Summon Doll can be used to bait opponents or prevent Alice from being overwhelmed. Additionally, they allow for weapon grinding for Nito Fusion; simply summon 5 dolls while equipped with your strongest equipment, equip whichever weapons you wish to level up, and have the Alice Dolls attack everything in sight. Beware their lack of status effect resistance.
Using Alice as the player and Rei'sen as the partner results in an army of 11 characters.

                Analysis (Partner)
Alice's doll system is unfortunately left unexplained in the game, so analysis is slightly difficult. She can both inflict status effects on enemies and buff herself.

                  Analysis (Player)
Flandre has diverse attack options: a hard hitting Prism Feather with varied effects, a long range and well spread Catadioptric, Squeeze and Boom to hit targets bunched up together, and Destructive Impulse when surrounded. Beware of using Destructive Impulse improperly, as it damages your partner and turns items into junk - and this can anger shopkeepers and make them accuse you of theft, which can negate the Crime & Punishment bonus for never stealing on the current save file even once.

                  Analysis (Partner)
Flandre is incredibly powerful, but this power comes at the cost of her also being incredibly destructive. Her stats and damage modifiers are better than all other characters, and negative status effects don't last as long. On the down side, Destructive Impulse and Laevateinn both typically destroy all items in the room. Keep her out of rooms with Mamizou or Rinnosuke shopkeepers, or tread cautiously through them; in either case, use Quick Orders to tell Flandre where to go to avoid getting mauled to death by a tanuki. If the items are destroyed by Flandre while the player isn't in the room however, the shopkeepers won't become angry.

Both Eastern and Western fandoms used to make jokes about her padding her chest but have since outgrown that. Probably.

During Sakuya's World, the following effects come into play:
                    • After the 5th turn, P is drained by 2 P per turn (4 P on boss floors)
                    • P cannot recover naturally; extends for 20 turns after Sakuya's World ends
                    • Turns will not pass normally (no natural HP recovery, tummy reduction, status effects running out)
                    • Traps do not trigger unless activated directly by Ground
                    • Terrain effects are ignored
The following conditions exit Sakuya's World:

                    Analysis (Player)
No, Sakuya cannot use Throwing Knives during Sakuya's World and have them immobilized in the air. Apart from that, all of her danmaku allows for her to escape from enemies very easily, with Throwing Knives sometimes completely shutting down opponents. Sakuya's World gives Sakuya a huge amount of options, ranging from attack, recovery, escape, or managing some delicate situation. Even if enemies block her escape into a hallway, Vanishing Everything may be able to circumvent that. Clock Remains does actually have a very unique and fun puzzle dungeon in the top left corner of its hub exclusively for Sakuya, forcing strategic usage of her danmaku that is applicable in real dungeons.
Note, however, that enemies can and will counterattack during Sakuya's World should they have the ability to do so and Sakuya is adjacent. In particular, Watatsuki no Yorihime can easily kill Sakuya through counterattacks. You're not invincible.

                    Analysis (Partner)
Sakuya will spam "Sakuya's World" very frequently for an attack that affects such a large range and inflicts so many hits. She will even use it in hallways, and it does good damage. Her other two attacks give Bound and Slowed to enemies, so she allows for an easier time escaping.

                    Notes
                    • Sakuya's past before she served Remilia Scarlet as a maid is unknown. Two of the most common fan theories are that she was either a vampire hunter who lost to Remilia, which is actually Akyuu's personal theory, or the secret identity of Jack the Ripper.
                    Cirno
Cirno is the Stage 2 boss of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and protagonist of Fairy Wars. An ice fairy and best friends with Daiyousei, she's kinda a moron who picks fights with everyone. And wins, including against the ultimate, absolute secret god in Gensokyo. All hail Cirno.

                    Freeze Touch Me
Cloaks Cirno in a freezing aura. Like Sakuya's World, from the 5th turn onward it consumes 1 P per turn and ends at 0 P. The effects are:
                    • Danmaku and Spell Card potency increase by 50%.
                    • If an adjacent enemy attacks Cirno, they receive 50% physical + 50% danmaku damage.
                    • Inflicts Slowed on enemies in a 2 square large diamond patter (ignored by Letty, Cirno, Mokou).
                    • Regenerate for the duration of Freeze Touch Me.

                    • Receives Double Speed 3 from Arctic Gust terrain instead of Slowed.
                    • Cannot be Frozen

                    Attacks
                    • Icicle Attack: Damages an enemy, may inflict Slowed 2.
                    • Ice Tornado: Box shaped range, damages adjacent enemies.
                    • Final Freeze: Entire floor range, damages all enemies on the floor. Activates when Cirno reaches less than 25% HP for the first time on the floor, including if she dies.
                    • Insta-Freeze Beam: Straight Ahead range of 10 squares.
                    Attributes
                    • HP starts at 9, very high HP growth
                    • Lowest Power growth
                    • Power starts at 9
                    • Receives Double Speed 3 from Arctic Gust terrain instead of Slowed.
                    • I'm the strongest!!!: Most likely does nothing.

                    Analysis (Player)
While her danmaku does inflict Slowed, the real point of interest is her Freeze Touch Me. An initial drain of 5 P and a drain of 1 P per turn is rather economic, allowing Cirno to maintain this state for longer periods of time and deal much more damage to enemies than otherwise.

                    Analysis (Partner)
Cirno has one of the few attacks able to hit the entire floor for raw damage. However, this can be dangerous for precisely one reason: Yuka Kazami. Final Freeze would hit and anger every single Yuka on the floor, so try to be near the stairs if Yuka are sighted and Cirno is nearly dead.

                    Notes
                    • If Cirno is the player character and drinks Hot Water, a special movie plays showing a colossal steam explosion in Gensokyo. This is then followed by Cirno dying. The movie doesn't play if Cirno is the partner instead, but Cirno still dies anyway.
                    Daiyosei
Daiyousei is the Stage 2 midboss of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. She is rather meek and often hangs out with Cirno. Like the enemy Koakuma, this character strictly speaking doesn't have a canonical name or even existence, but she's so well known in the fandom that she appears in the official manga books, albeit unnamed. "Daiyousei" translates literally to "Big Fairy", but at least that's better than Satori.

                    Attacks
                    • Fairy Bullet: Support danmaku. Fire bullets deal more damage to Cirno and Letty while water bullets deal more damage to Mokou.
                    • Fay Quartet "Four Fairies": Range of room, damages all enemies. Inflicts various effects depending on the season:
                      • Spring: Sleep 4. Same effect as Coming of Spring seal, melts Cirno and Letty.
                      • Summer: Increases damage. Flame terrain everywhere on the floor.
                      • Fall: Creates Mushroom and Bamboo Shoot terrain on the floor.
                      • Winter: Slow 11
                    • I'll cheer you on!: Gives four out of the following: Double Speed 10, Superstrong 20, Harden 20, Regenerate 20, Resurrect, Invincibility 15.
                    Attributes
                    • Base HP of 30, very high HP growth
                    • Not big, despite being a great fairy!: No effect, joke on the meaning of her name.

                    Analysis (Player)
Daiyousei is basically a medic with Sylphy Yell. Guaranteed Resurrect is rather ridiculous depending on the situation; with enough P, Daiyousei can simply have her partner march in and repeatedly kill themselves, or be able to do the solo 99 floor dungeons with a very fat safety net. Be careful when using her Salamander Ball since the Flame effect can destroy items, or her Tri-Undine since the Puddles can power up some enemies in addition to your partner Suwako.

                    Analysis (Partner)
Daiyousei has some of the best support in the game due to the buffs she provides with "I'll cheer you on!". Fay Quartet's Fall variant can create edible food in a pinch. However, beware of the Summer variant of Fay Quartet, as it practically ignites entire rooms.

                    Notes
                    • The UI image for Insane depicts a crayon-like drawing of Daiyousei stabbing a couple of people. This most likely refers to the much darker alternate fan personality of her named DIE-yousei or DIE妖精.
                    • Daiyousei's Tri-Undine and Sylphy Yell attacks seem to reference Patchouli Knowledge's Water Sign "Princess Undine" and Wood Sign "Sylphy Horn" spell cards from Embodiment of Scarlet Devil.
                    Tenshi Hinanawi
Tenshi is the final boss of Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. A delinquent celestial, she often gets kicked out of Heaven. Tenshi attacks by using her essentially defense-piercing Sword of Hisou and keystones that can fire lasers. By the way, the "wi" at the end of her name is pronounced as "eh", similar to Tewi being "Tay".

                    Partner Special Characteristics
                    Attacks
                    • Sword of Scarlet Perception: Support danmaku. Grants Species Slayer 10 to the player and Tenshi. Animation has Tenshi literally tossing the Sword of Hisou at the opponent.
                    • Six Earthquakes -Signs-: Range of 3 squares around Tenshi. May inflict Shadow Bind 4, Bound 1, or Slowed. Does not hit floating enemies.
                    • Quake "Duty Before Leisure": Range of room. Damages all enemies, inflicts Shadow Bind 5. Hits floating enemies despite the name.
                    Attributes
                    None.

                    Analysis (Player)
Tenshi has a full room hitting attack with her Six Earthquakes provided she has a high enough Bombardment seal. Otherwise, her Sword of Non-Perception grants Species Slayer, allowing her to hit enemies much harder.

                    Analysis (Partner)
Tenshi frequently uses Six Earthquakes, which can give various effects to opponents, but be mindful of its ineffectiveness against enemies with Float.

                    Notes
                    • The Hisou seal is named after the Sword of Hisou.

                    3-way Y-shape
Targets straight ahead in the direction the character faces, and diagonally back left and diagonally back right opposite of the direction the character faces.
                    5-way Star-shape
Targets straight ahead and all four diagonals.

                    Box
Targets all adjacent squares in an NxN box centered around the character or target.
                    Rectangle
Targets all squares in a rectangle of LengthxWidth squares. Often combined with Straight Ahead to indicate that the shorter side of the rectangle is in front of the character.
                    Fan
Targets all squares in a cone extending from the user of length N. That is, the width of the effect increases by two squares for each square away from the user.
                    Diamond
Targets all squares of distance N from the user, including diagonally.
                    Room
Targets the entire current room. Hallways are limited to two squares.
                    Floor
                    Targets the entire floor.
                    Random

                    Self
Targets the user or the square they stand on.
                    Summon
Summons an ally to a nearby square.
                    Movement
Moves the player character the number of spaces indicated by Range until hitting a wall. Only applies the attack's effects while the character can still travel over squares.
                    Multi
Hits all targeted squares separately, but explicitly does not go through walls.
                    Splash
Targets squares near point of impact according to one of the shapes above.
                    Pierce
In addition to hitting all targeted squares separately, pierces walls and characters in the path of the danmaku. Usually found on laser-like danmaku.

                    Nuclear Excursion P Consumption
The strength of Utsuho's Nuclear Excursion is dependent on how much P remains after the initial cost. It is very important to note, however, that the calculation within the Chronicle's Danmaku section on Utsuho does not account for the effects of the Saving seal. That is, a Nuclear Excursion with the lowest possible value of 0.25% would normally take 49 P, but with a 60% Savings seal, that number is reduced to 49 - [10 * 0.60] = 43 P.
X-Mode also incurs an HP loss per turn based on that's directly based on the amount of P remaining, unlike the other effects which fit into ranges. The formula is [10 - 0.25 * (Remaining P)]%. This caps at 39 Remaining P such that the lowest HP loss per turn is 0.25%.

Years late but if anyone else is like RoseWitchMaple and is lost after beating Buyking Rinnosuke, the game should generally guide you to the next objective. You should be getting story cutscenes involving Satori and eventually they lead you to the entrance to Awaritium Tower, but with a new dungeon to go in instead of climbing the Tower.
After you resolve this, you'll have to do one more set of story stuff with Reimu, which is dealing with an "emergency" (kept vague for spoiler reasons) and then after the that, the game opens up proper, with the area you resolve the emergency in being the late game hub so to speak. There's a lot more stuff to unlock here, but at this point, all the dlc content / side quest stuff should be available.

I bought and downloaded all of the DLC and I beat Rinnosuke and I haven't beat any of the other (quests? side quests? whatever they are). But for some reason, I either can't use any character besides Reimu, or I can't figure out how to switch characters. (Also how do you unlock the other side quest things besides Bullet Reporter and Kind of Fairies? And what do you do after beating Rinnosuke? Sry if I sound like an idiot.)

Good stuff but I noticed somewhere half way through you stopped listing the characters' base strength and hp gain.

                    -some small stuff-
                    partner futo:
feng shui art - turbulence: blow back 2 spaces, arctic gust: gives [slowed]

the effect from phantasmagoric empathy for laughter is [feeling good], [alchemic], & [giant]
(seems like the devs typo-ed their own translation of 活性 lol)

                    as for hecatia's ability:
                    hecatia-chan(rank0) cant use any
                    hecatia(rank1) can only use Hell

                    Hell: Yokai, Phantom, Oni

Thanks guys, it's helpful to spot the mistakes. I'll get to work on the spell cards and fixing up the partner sections in a bit.

                    ~Example~
                    Utsuho Lv1
                    HP: 15/230 ([Vit] +200/+100%)
DanmakuP: 30/45 ([DGU] +15, drank 3x P-Can and used Fireball once)
Power: 8/15 ([PwU] +7, drank Sweet Powerful Poison)
-Using Excursion with the above stats-
                    [Without [Sav] Saving Seal]
Consume 10P with 20 remaining, from the above stats,
                    ExtendedHP: 460/460 | DanmakuP: 60/60 | Power: 23/23
                    ExHP reduction percentage is 5%.
In other words, without taking any damage and without defeating any enemy, X-Mode will last 20 turns.

                    [With [Sav] 75%]
Consume 3P with 27 remaining, from the above stats,
                    ExtendedHP: 575/575 | DanmakuP: 66/66 | Power: 27/27
                    ExHP reduction percentage is 3.25%.
In other words, without taking any damage and without defeating any enemy, X-Mode will last 31 turns.

In either case, when X-Mode ends:
                    HP: 115/230 | DanmakuP: 0/45 | Power: 8/15

-Influence of Remaining P on X-Mode-
The remaining P right after activating Excursion changes the the stats enhancements.
With [DGU] Danmaku Guage Up & [Sav] Saving Seals, the remaining P can go above 21.
Note, the [Bmb] Bomcardment Seal has no relation to the stats enhancement?

                    |Remaining P|ExtendedHP|DanmakuP|Power|
                    |0-4|x1.2|+5|+3|
                    |5-9|x1.4|+7|+4|
                    |10-14|x1.6|+9|+5|
                    |15-19|x1.8|+12|+6|
                    |20|x2.0|+15|+8|
                    |21-25|x2.25|+18|+10|
                    |26-30|x2.5|+21|+12|
                    |31-39|x2.75|+25|+14|
                    |40+|x3.0|+30|+15|
(tats a pretty bad table lols)

The percentage of ExHP reduction from passing turn is [10 - 0.25*(Remaining P after activation)]%.
                    But, the lowest is 0.25%.

When ExHP reaches 0, you will overheat and return back to normal.
As a reaction to this, your current HP will become 1/2 of MaxHP, Danmaku P will become 0, and you will receive 10 turns of [Melancholy,Enfeeble,Weaken,Soften] effects.
(Even if your current HP was less than 1/2 of MaxHP when you activated Excursion, when X-Mode ends you'll have 1/2 of MaxHP.
The harful effects in this case cannot be prevented with things like Resistance Seals, but [Rdc] Reduction Seal and [Protection] effect works.
The price is relatively high. (tho it depends on the situation)

As mentioned above, your abilities increases during X-Mode, but usable Danmaku will also receive changes.
In addition, as ExtendedHP takes over the damage received during X-Mode, you can't be defeated.
(here comes 2 more comments for the stats changes and examples for X-Mode...)
