Transport: Train Heist full stealth DSOD (Death Sentence, One Down)
By Cyd and 1 collaborators
Transport: Train Heist is generally regarded as one of the, if not the most difficult stealth heist. From the creators of Counterfeit full stealth DSOD, this guide will help you through the entirety of the map with brand new strategies never seen before in this heist. Get all the achievements and be one step closer to that sweet DSOD mask in just one run.

Introduction
Transport: Train Heist is one of the hardest stealth heists in the game. Every other stealth heist (even in the highest difficulty) allows for much more control of the map itself. There are, however, many factors in Train Heist that complicate its stealthing to the point of it being barely playable at times. Even if you are an experienced stealth player, this map relies on you being completely alert at all times and be extremely wary of positioning.

Using some of the already covered unconventional stealth mechanics, you will be able to complete this map in a methodical way leaving nothing up to chance.
General considerations
For this strategy, it is highly advised to bring the following for maximum efficiency:

  1. One player with silenced saw in order to open the wagons.
  2. Preferably 8 body bags for maximum control. You can buy a body bag asset on this heist but the spawn for it is quite inconvenient. You should bring as many body bag cases as needed in your secondary deployable to reach this amount.
  3. ECMs. You will not be using them, but you can start a rush at some point to avoid the most tedious part of the heist (moving 20 ammo bags to the drop-off point).

For those of you that are familiar with the Counterfeit full stealth guide, there is the possibility in this heist to recreate what is seen in that guide, although there is another brand new mechanic that will be showcased in the strategy menu.
Heist information
This section will cover everything you need to know about the heist, including intricacies of every objective. You can skip to the strategy guide if you know all this information already. Additional information about every objective will be included in this section.

Hard drive
This item will be used to open any of the vaults as soon as they are located inside the wagons. As soon as the hard drive is put in place, a 2:00 timelock will start. It is worth noting this timelock will not be stopped by ECMs.

A peculiarity of this item is that it can be duplicated as demonstrated in the image below.

In order to do so, simply communicate a timestamp with the other players in the heist and begin the interaction at the same time. If you're lucky, you will duplicate it. This process is, from our experience, easierly done among clients rather than host + client(s).

It is also possible to duplicate this item when recovering it after just opening a vault.

Train wagons
There are a total of three wagons numbered in game.

While using a saw is recommended for efficiency, I will cover how to identify which doors to unlock in order to see the vaults.

If you look at the image above, you can see there are two doors per wagon (and two other identical doors on the other side of the wagon, which are irrelevant unless you need them to escape or move bags; it is irrelevant which side you open, you can even open all the doors although that is not recommended).

There is always one vault per wagon.

Start by opening one door of any wagon. If you opened the vault: congratulations! Else, you know for sure that the vault will be in the other door of the same wagon.

A more graphical explanation:
If you open the door numbered red one and it has no vault, you know for sure that there will be a vault in red two. Repeat this process for green and blue and you will find the three vaults in no time.

Vaults
Three vaults. One will contain the turret, two will contain 10 bags of ammunition each. It is required in DSOD to secure everything. The priority should always start the timelock that will find the turret in order to efficiently progress the heist and minimizing the time inside it.

When a timelock has started with a hard drive, it has a 45% chance of breaking, checked every 29 seconds, thus the players need to rewire one of four electrical boxes around the train.

If the players managed to duplicate the hard drive, it is possible to start several hacks at the same time. If so, it is possible for both of them to break, thus activating two electrical boxes at the same time. In this case, it is only needed to rewire one in order to fix all the current hacks. If all four electrical boxes have been activated through stopped hacks, there will be no more need of rewiring since it is impossible for the hacks to stop again.

Turret and ammo
Once located and opened, the drop-off point will be shown to players as soon as the first part of the turret is bagged. This will be either the car (65% chance) behind the lumberyard or the boat on the coast that coincides as one of the possible spawns of the players.

This will be the same drop-off point for both the turret and the ammo. Deliver the turret first as soon as possible because the driver will leave as they get it and come back later for all the ammo bags. This process will take up to three minutes, so it is recommended to start moving the ammo to a safe place, or simply start a rush to finish the heist since the escape will be near the drop-off as soon as all bags have been delivered.

Don't worry, ammo doesn't explode anymore. Go wild.
Strategy
Guide in video format
As usual, we have a video showcasing how the strategy works, then a written strategy if you prefer to follow that step by step:

Text guide, step by step
1. Fetch the hard drive.

Simply walk up to the hard drive that is next to the spawn. As mentioned earlier, you can duplicate the hard drive and save yourself some time, but if you don't feel confident enough to pull this off, the most convenient person to carry the hard drive is the saw user, since he can start a timelock as soon as he finds one vault.

2. Clean up the train.

This is where you will need the 8 body bags. There are a total of 5 guards and 4 civilians walking around. Take your time with the cleanup and make sure you get rid of 4 guards and all 4 civilians. If you're playing solo, you can bring two body bag cases, buy the asset or tie the civilians and move them close to the boxes in front of the tunnel as a last resort.

Here is a handy image that explains the zones in which the guards patrol.
Sometimes a guard from the green zone will patrol below, on the blue zone. When this happens, simply wait for him to come back up. However, guards from the blue or red zone will never patrol on the green zone.

Civilians will patrol alongside both the green and red zone, but never the blue zone.

Another important thing to note is that one civilian can drop a keycard which might be useful later. This is the civilian in question.

There are two like him, so just kill them both and you'll get the keycard. You will only get one keycard out of them, though.

Once the clean up is complete, you can proceed to the next part.

3. Bamboozle the last guard.

There are four different strategies to deal with the last guard. The order does not imply increasing difficulty. Simply choose the one you prefer.

3.1: Body bag on top of wagon.

Link to the timestamped video. (0:55 in the video guide)

Simply drop a body bag on top of the wagon outside the platform, like this:
Then wait for the last guard to make a waypoint to the very end of the platform and he will see the body bag and get stuck on top of the train. If you are not familiar with this strategy already, please do check the Counterfeit full stealth Steam guide for more information.

3.2: Alternative body bag on top of wagon.

Link to the timestamped video. (6:51 in the video guide)

This method is the same as the first one, but more aimed to more impatient players. Start by putting a body bag in the same place as you did in 3.1. Then wait for the last guard to be on top of the platform. You can move the guard to the desired location by dropping a body bag on the side.
Once the guard spots the body bag, he will walk up to you. Simply retire the body bag and let yourself be spotted near the railing. Stay put and once the guard starts moving up to you, simply drop on top of the wagon, lose vision and let the guard spot the former body bag. At this point, he will be as stuck as he was as if he made the waypoint there himself.

3.3: Drill and upgrade / keycard.

Link to the timestamped video. (8:04 in the video guide)

Very old strategy, the creator of The Long Guide wrote long ago that this behavior can be achieved with loud drills, generally in any map. You can safely apply this on Train Heist. Bring loud drills to the heist for this.

Once the guard is on the platform making a waypoint towards somewhere where he will hear the drill, start the drill. Every 2 seconds, a check will be performed to determine if the closest guard has heard the drill, and make a new waypoint in order to inspect it. At this precise moment, upgrade the drill; use a keycard or an ECM to open the wagon; or saw it open. Any of these options will remove the object that the guard AI was trying to inspect, in a way that he will become stuck trying to reach something that simply doesn't exist anymore (the loud drill). He will remain stuck for the rest of the game.

3.4: Cop kiting. (at least 2 players required)

Link to the timestamped video. (8:41 in the video guide)

Remember the couch and the table in our Counterfeit stealth guide? The exact same can be done here. Simply remember not to move more than one meter from the point you've been spotted so the guard doesn't shoot at you.

4. Open wagons.

You can do this step simultaneously with the previous steps if you feel brave enough. The most efficient way to open the wagons is straight up sawing them. Remember to check below and behind before sawing since the rest of the guards can still hear the saw even if it is silent.

Alternatively, you can use drills for the safest wagons (some of them can be spotted by the guards walking around the ravine), some ECMs or the keycard if you didn't use the step 3.3. It takes 42 seconds for the drills to finish. Read about the wagons in the Heist information part of the guide in order to know how to efficiently open them.

5. Start timelocks.

Once the wagons are opened and the vaults located, simply check inside them until you find the turret. If you did not manage to duplicate the hard drive, the turret's vault should be the priority for efficiency purposes. Otherwise, simply start as many timelocks as hard drives you managed to duplicate.

The hack will take 2 minutes to complete. Every 29 seconds, there is a 45% chance of the hack failing and needing rewiring from a nearby electrical box. However, if you managed to start more than one hack and you wait for more of them to break, an additional electrical box will activate for each additional paused hack. In this case, rewiring only one will reactivate all hacks.

Two pictures are posted under Vaults in Heist information to demonstrate this properly. In order not to clutter the guide, I will not post them again. Check them out above.

Once all four electrical boxes have been activated (not necessarily rewired), the hacks will never break again.

6. Bag turret and prepare ammo bags.

Once the vaults are open, bag a turret part and the drop-off point will activate. Your priority now is moving all three parts as fast and carefully as possible since the driver will leave after turning the turret in and will come back after a waiting time of up to 3 minutes.

Ziplines will activate at this point. Please refer to the appendix if you are interested in using them. They are completely safe to use, but slow if you're in a crew. Just don't use the one that is near the dumpster. Ziplines are recommended if you are playing solo.

While the driver is returning, prepare the ammo for drop-off at the exact same location. It doesn't explode anymore.

Once the driver has returned, simply move the 20 ammo bags to it. You can start an ECM rush at this point, since the escape will be nearby and even if the assault starts at this point, you can simply turn the 20 bags in and escape right after without a change of objectives.

7. Escape.

Congratulations, you are now one step closer to your Death Sentence One Down mask and you have all the achievements from this heist!
Appendix: Ziplines
After picking the first turret part, the drop-off point will spawn and together with it a zipline. This section will explain their positioning and is generally aimed at solo players, since using the zipline is very slow.

  1. Car zipline
This zipline will spawn right next to an electrical box.
In our experience it is advised to use it if you don't mind sparing the time, but only if you are playing solo. This is our suggested movement route after moving all the bags with it:
  2. Boat ziplines
There are two ziplines available for boat escape. Please note that once one of them is activated, the other one will become unavailable for setup immediately.
This is the advised zipline to use, since the drop-off from it is right next to the boat and the only thing you have to do right after dropping all the bags is sneak down to the boat and deliver them, since the escape will be immediately close to it.
Appendix: Beams
We find it worth mentioning that maneuvering with the beams is a safe way to move around the train. Simply remember that you can climb to the top using the beams on the ends of the platform to quickly access high ground and gather intel.

You can also maneuver on the beams in the middle to get to the top, albeit it is a bit trickier, but definitely possible.

Remember as well that you can hide behind them for extra cover.

@MrDogit The guide was deleted by the Steam moderators for Payday 2. As to why, that's information only Marcmb has and I can not answer. Sorry.

I believe you automatically subscribe to the comments of a guide if you comment on it. I don't think I can mention you with @. Only reason for @ is in case the owner is responding to multiple comments, so everybody can keep track. To unsubscribe from the comments, there is a checkbox right on top of the comment field. Hope that helps.

I'm very curious, how and why the guides could be removed?

And how did you ping me? Just typed my nickname after the "@"? I've seen this for a first time on Steam, thought it didn't work.
Cyd  [author] Apr 27, 2022 @ 1:54am
@MrDogit Correct, the guide they were supposed to link to was removed a long time ago. Marcmb, the highest owner has tried to bring it back up for a long time to no avail.

The links have been changed to the original Counterfeit video that should explain the mechanics.

is the body bag alert bug patched? i can't seem to get it to work, he always calls it in after a little bit
Cyd  [author] Apr 22, 2020 @ 3:01am
@p o t a t o e Yes, you can absolutely do it solo. I would personally recommend to bring body bag cases as primary so you have enough body bags to control the entire train. Setting the body bag on top of the wagon should be easy enough with the beams. After everything is in place and all the vaults are open, ziplines are a huge help in order to move all the bags when playing solo.

Simply take your time in every step. It's definitely possible to do it solo, and it's also easy, but it is long. Good luck!
