noclip, 2x speed, and 4x speed guide

a needlessly in-depth guide for the three most practical glitches in yume nikki.

in order to perform most of these glitches effectively, you will need the bicycle and kitchen knife effects.
detailed instructions on to how to easily obtain these effects are located in the prerequisites section!

noclip glitch

requirement: kitchen knife effect

first, you will need to sleep and sit at your desk in the dream world.
turn your chair to face away from the desk, and equip the kitchen knife.



while in this position, press z to exit the chair and press 1 immediately after. if done correctly, you will step off of the chair and switch the hands you are holding the knife.

once you get the timing right, you can walk through any entity in the game!



you can even use other effects including the bicycle as well!

however, while no-clipping, you will no longer have any collision with anything in the game.
this means you can still interact with doors, but you will not be able to travel to areas that require walking into a specific spot or walking into the edge of a screen.

to revert this glitch, simply press 9 to wake up.

timing is key!
(if you switch your knife but don't exit the chair, you pressed 1 too early. you can keep trying as long as you are still in the chair.
if you leave the chair without switching hands, you pressed 1 too late.)

2x speed glitch

requirement: any effect

first, you will need to sleep and sit at your desk in the dream world.
turn your chair to face away from the desk, and equip any effect you have.



while in this position, press z to exit the chair. thats it! youre 2x your speed.

turning on different effects, sitting back onto the chair, or waking up will revert this effect.

(this glitch isnt that practical compared to the 4x glitch, but it's incredibly easy to learn and requires almost nothing.)

4x speed glitch

requirement: bicycle effect

first, you will need to sleep and sit at your desk in the dream world.
turn your chair to face away from the desk, and equip the bicycle effect.



while in this position, press z to exit the chair. 4x speed!

turning on different effects, sitting back onto the chair, or waking up will revert this effect.

pre-requisites

this section is intended for complete beginners.
it will show how to obtain the bicycle and kitchen knife effects, as well as some basic controls for good measure.

requirements for each glitch:

2x speed - any effect
4x speed - bicycle effect
noclip - kitchen knife effect

bicycle effect
this effect is incredibly simple to find, and even in a glitchless playthrough, serves great purpose as it doubles your walk speed while active.
to find it, first navigate to the graffiti world located at the bottom right of the nexus. the entrance is pictured below.



immediately after entering this world, just hold left. after a few seconds, you will run straight into the bicycle.


press z while facing the bike to get this effect, and navigate through the x menu to activate it.
press 9 to awaken in your room.

kitchen knife effect
this effect is simple to find as well, but very slightly more difficult than the bike.
to find it, first navigate to the dark world located at the left of the nexus.


the dark world is... very dark.
in order to navigate to the knife without any light, walk left until you reach a set of red eyes.


position the eyes in the very top right corner of your window, and then, walk straight down while keeping an eye on the very left of the screen. you will see the knife after a few seconds.


press z while facing the knife to get this effect, and navigate through the x menu to activate it.
press 9 to awaken in your room.

glitches explained

the reason this works is because sitting at your desk in your dream will multiply your speed by 0.5x, halving it. activating an effect while in the chair will reset your speed to normal. activating the bicycle effect will reset your speed to the bicycle walk speed, which is 2x normal. when exiting the desk chair, the game is programmed to double your speed to take you from the intended 0.5x speed to 1x speed. thus, if you have already reset your speed back to 1x, it will double to become 2x speed. if you used the bike to reset to 2x speed, exiting the chair will double that value to give you 4x speed.
