British Rail Standard Class 9F

Açıklama
British Rail Standard Class 9F steam locomotive, by killakanz
From Great Britain.
Unlocks in 1954

The Standard Class 9F was the last of the British Rail Standardised classes. Designed for fast, heavy freight over long distances. It was one of the most powerful steam locomotives ever built in Britain. 251 were built between 1954 to 1960, but with the end of steam already on the horizon they were short-lived, some serving for just 5 years. 92220 'Evening Star' was the last steam locomotive built for British Rail and was already earmarked for preservation before it was built, and survives today with 8 others of the class.

Nice looking model, however 2500 KW is a bit crazy. The real loco was rated at ~1,118 kW (1,500 ihp) at the Rugby test plant, and tractive effort was 39,667 lbf (176.45 kN). Would be cool with an update on that.

Just so you are aware, when fully zoomed in, the standing still steam sound stops.

The Class 101 is getting a rebuild like the 9F did. It's on it's way. The 4-CIG is also in the queue to be ported.

Is there any plans for the grat 101s to port over yet? or the slam doors? or are they getting a upgrade would love them for a uk map. please. :)

One of these locos did reach 90mph when it took over an east coast line express from a loco that had failed. Unfortunately it was timed by an enthusiast who happened to be on the train and was reported in railway magazine. The BR authorities were not impressed! They forthwith banned 9Fs being used on fast passenger workings. The were worried about the affects on the loco's bearings as the were not designed for the fast rotational speed produced at 90mph.

@Norfolk_Chris Those were just regulation speeds when hauling freight. There are records indicating 9Fs were capable of reaching 90mph

Very nice! But isn't the top speed too fast? Maybe 75mph would be more appropriate (I think the official max speed was 60mph).
