The Ultimate Zombi Experience
By “JON”
This guide will take you through some modifications/configurations that bring the best of both platforms together to deliver a truly terrifying experience. This is my very first guide, so bear with me while I try and make this as easy to follow as I possibly can. I was too lazy to provide step-by-step screenshots. If you are revisiting this game and would like to change it up a bit or add to the game's difficulty, this guide is for you. If you are playing this game for the first time, I recommend a vanilla playthrough before following this guide - unless you are one to jump to the most challenging difficulty right off the bat. In this case it could be very rewarding.

**Please feel free to add/message me if any of these links become out-of-date in the future and I will help you out**

1) Gameplay Basics
Go to your in-game options. Disable the crosshair. Turn your brightness down to 15% or 20%. Do your best to avoid using the brighter option on your flashlight, as the WiiU's release did not come with that luxury. It all comes down to preference, but I recommend playing Zombi with a gamepad.
2) Visual Modifications
The first couple of modifications you're going to make are rather simple. Dragging, dropping, and renaming files.

1) Download SweetFX.[sfx.thelazy.net] Drag and drop the files to Zombi's main directory (user>program files>steam>steamapps>common>zombi). After dragging and dropping those files, you should see a text file called "Sweetfx_settings". Delete it.

2) After that, you're just going to be downloading a reshade filter which can be found here.[sfx.thelazy.net]This will remove the green tint that the game has by default, making environments much more colorful and realistic, while fully maintaining the game's grim atmosphere. Drag and drop it to Zombi's directory where you put the SweetFX files, and rename it to "Sweetfx_settings" to replace the file you just deleted. Done with that!

3) Download this awesome tool, Zombi Manager. Follow the instructions in the link provided - easy stuff. This tool will allow you to configure some display settings that you aren't able to in the game's options - things like chromatic aberration, bloom, depth of field, film grain, etc. It also provides a lens flare effect much like the WiiU's release, albeit much more subtle. However, still a really nice option to have for those who were a fan of the WiiU's lens flare filter.
3) Removing the Minimap
For some, the minimap is a crucial gameplay mechanic. If that's you, then disregard this section altogether!

***SUCCESSFULLY REMOVING THE MINIMAP WILL RESULT IN BUTTON PROMPTS LIKE "(X) LOOT" DISAPPEARING. IT IS WHAT IT IS. IF YOU KNOW YOUR CONTROLS THEN THIS ISN'T AN ISSUE***

For the WiiU's release of the game, the minimap that's in the bottom right corner of your screen was on your gamepad, forcing you to take your attention away from your surroundings momentarily. In short, it was awesome. I always prefer my display to be as minimal as possible, so it always bothered me that I didn't have the option of turning off the minimap in the PC's release of the game. Sure it can be used to ping the location of nearby zombies, and act as a guide, but there are moments where the game takes that away from you. They're some of the scariest moments in Zombi. I've always thought - why not have the option of applying that to the entire game?! If that grabs your attention, then follow the steps below.

1) Download CheatEngine.[www.cheatengine.org] I know the name raises an eyebrow, but don't worry. You're not going to get VAC banned or anything of the sort. You're just going to be using CheatEngine to disable the minimap display.

2) Download this cheat table.[nohud.fandom.com] Open it. Launch Zombi and get to a point where you can fully control your character. Once you can, pause your game and minimize it. Looking at the cheat table you opened, you should see a PC icon in the top left with a barrier that flashes green and red. Click it. A menu with tabs should open up. Go to the "processes" tab. You should see "numbersletters-ZOMBI.exe". Click it and hit "Open". Hit yes when prompted - this basically molds the cheat table and your game's executable together until you close the game. You will have to launch the cheat table and do this each time you want to play.

3) On the bottom of your cheat table, you should see a list of scripts. These are your options for what you can toggle on and off as far as your HUD goes. The process of disabling your minimap but maintaining other parts of your HUD - like your backpack menu - is a bit particular. I've listed them in order below. To toggle a script on or off, just click the box to the left of them.
  • Toggle "minimap and backpack menu" ON
  • Toggle "hud minimap 130 and 1" ON
If you open your game, your minimap will be gone but your backpack menu will also be gone. Can't have that, so let's pause, minimize and...
  • Toggle "Hud on/off" ON
  • Now toggle "minimap and backpack menu" OFF
4) When you open your game, your minimap should still be gone. When you open your backpack, the menu should still be there as it would normally be. If that's the case, you have followed all of this correctly and can now enjoy a much more immersive Zombi experience!

Any way to disable green marker in the game? Not on the map, but the one on the screen.

@Comedy,

You want to download the very first file listed, "SweetFX 1.5". Apologies for the confusion!

When I go to the SweetFX link you posted, there's like a dozen files, do I download them all?
