Gameplays

Characters

Mother
is the initial character, she can run, jump, catch, throw, drop and parry. You can not catch babies or stones if there is a structure above your head.


Father
is the second character, unlocked by collecting 100 rainbow flowers. He has the ability to jump just after a parry. Useful to use ennemies as platforms. Levels completed with the father are recorded on your own save file and also on the online database.


Ninja
is the developer ghost until you unlocked him by collecting 120 rainbow flowers. He is as swift as the wind and has infinite jumps. Consequently it is possible to enable or disable the developer's ghost. Levels completed with the ninja are recorded on your own save file but not on the online database.


Lost Offspring They are childen to gather in a safe place before the worse happens. You can throw them (only horizontaly) in the door or wear them on your head. Otherwise, when they are on the ground they jump 1/2 square high every 2 seconds. In addition, between 2 babies to catch, this is the last one implemented in the level who will have the priority. A stone will always have the priority face to a baby.


Ennemies

Gator
Walk from one end to the other of a platform. Can be stun with a baby, stone or parry.


Plant
Shoot horizontal acid bullet on the right only during all the level, or left. Bullets can be stoped by any mechanisms, mechanisms or a parry. However you can not parry a plant (but you can touch it without diying) to stunt it, but it will work with a baby or stone.


Spike
Run in the character direction when he is in his vertical or horizontal detection area. Once he has reach the maximum distance, he comes back slowly on his initial position. Can be stun with a baby, stone or parry


Hornet
Sleep in air unless the character enter in his detection area. Can be stun with a baby, stone or parry


Mechanisms

Exit
The safe place for a family. The character can not enter in the door until his offsprings is in it.


Stone
Can be catched, droped and thrown on deflectors, stun ennemies and destroy acid projectile. In addition, between 2 stones to catch, this is the last one implemented in the level who will have the priority. A stone will always have the priority face to a baby.


Structure
Unbreakable and infranchissable block.


Breakable
Destructible block by throwing babies or stones on it.


Switch block
Block appearing and desappearing according to the off/on state.


Switch button
Button activated by character, baby and stone weight.


Switch crystal
Button activated by baby and stone thrown.


Weight platform
Platform needing enough weight to fall down slowly (a character with a baby or stone, or 3 babies or stones).


Deflector
Change the baby and stone angles after being thrown.


Hazard
Liquid toxic killing the character and his offspring but not ennemies.


Weed
Cosmetic plant volatilizing while walking on it.


Bugs
Cosmetic insects moving while jumping on it.


Flowers

Blue
Finish the level saving all lost offsprings and the mother.


Yellow
Finish the level with a decent time.


Rainbow
Finish the level egalazing or beating the ninja time / developer time. If you are close enough to his time, his ghost will appear.
Techniques
All of these aptitudes can be seen in the " best time / top files " from the " Import > Internet " section of the game.

Elementary character's actions

Up
"↑" - cosmetic move.

Left and Right run
"←" , "→" - allow to run according to the weight carried by the character.

Jump
"x" - allow to jump among a wide range according to on the time pressing the input and on weight.

Catch
"↓" - allow to catch babies and stones while freezing the character position briefly.

Throw
"c" - allow to throw babies and stones while freezing the character position briefly.

Drop
"↓ + c" (simulteneaously) - allow to drop babies and stones while freezing the character position briefly.

Parry
"← / →" (quick impulse towards an ennemy or projectile) - allow to stun ennemies 5 seconds and destroy projectiles.


Advanced character's actions

Parry and jump
"←/→ , x" (only with the Father or Ninja character) - allow to jump just after a parry. Required for levels 111 to 120.

Jump and catch
"x , ↓" - (quickly on babies or stones, while in air just above the floor) - allow to jump higher than a catch (from the floor) and jump.

Aerial drop and catch
"↓ + c , ↓" - long suspension in air.

Edge catch
"↓" (on the edge of babies or stones) - delay the weight gain thus speed loss.

Jumping baby catch
"↓" (while 1 square above a baby after he jumps 1/2 square upward) - avoid to go down to take him, but babies jump every 2 seconds. It also makes easier multiples jump and catches in a row.

Roof boost
"x" (bang the roof) - give a short horizontal and falling vertical acceleration. Sometimes this negative vertical acceleration do not allow to perform a long jump to reach an area.

Drafting boost
"x" (jump into a lateral opening 1 square height without touching the top and down edge) - give a short horizontal acceleration.

Catch boost
"↓ , ↓ , ..." (very quickly between two/three babies or stones) - reduce considerably the time needed to catch.

Inertial turn back
"←/→ , →/←" - keep an inertia in the initial direction.

Non-inertial turn back
"←/→ , ← + → , →/←" - erase the inertia.

Curved trajectory
Allow to accelerate sooner rather than an angular trajectory by not sticking vertical walls.


Advanced character's actions on environment

Elevator boost
Place babies on an elevator with identical jump cycles in order to accelerate the falling.

Stop swtich block
Stop a switch block (red and blue structure) by placing on it the character, a baby or a stone before his activation.

Edge structure
Jump or catch a baby on the edge of a stucture, even if there is a structure or switch block above.

Edge switch button
Activate a switch button while jumping on his corner.

Edge switch crystal
Activate a crystal button by throwing a baby or stone on his corner keeping his trajectory.

Edge breakable structure
Destroy a breakable stucture by throwing a baby or stone on his corner keeping his trajectory.

Edge acid bullet
Throw a stone on the edge of an acid bullet results in the destruction of the bullet but not the stone.

Cutscenes
They inform you about your parental duty !
• The 1st is unlocked automaticaly at start.
• The 2nd is unlocked after thrashing Dinobauss.
• The 3rd is unlocked at 120 blue flowers.
• The 4th is unclocked at 120 rainbow flowers.

Garden
Clicking on the white and blue flower (maximum count 240) launch the garden. This is a training level filled by babies and flowers according to your progression.

Gnarly, Tubular, Way Cool, Awesome, Groovy, Mondo, Outrageous and Funky refer to the 8 Super Mario World star levels.

119
Savage is an homage to the wrestler Macho Man Randy Savage. In this level we have to parry spikes in a vertical area.

120
Daigo, is an homage to a Street Fighter 2 legendary player. In this level we have to parry a lot of ennemies.

Speedruns

Times

The framerate can be displayed on the upper right corner of the screen after pushing the tilde key "~". The value should run around 60 fps.

Mono segmented chrono
Total time played in levels (garden included), no matters if you leave the game.


Multi segmented chrono
Total best times through completed story levels (community levels not included), from 1 to 120. It is possible to reach sub 20 minutes for all 120 levels.

Dinobauss run - fastest any %
It is not necessary to do the 99 levels before facing the boss at level 100. It only requires to collect 100 blue + yellow flowers (not rainbow). Thus the mimimum is 50 levels completed, which implies to plan his itinerary according to shortest time spent in levels and in the main menu. It is possible to reach sub 9 minutes.

100 levels
All 99 levels then the Dinobauss. It is possible to reach sub 24 minutes.


120 levels
It needs to reach 100 yellow flowers to activate levels 101 to 110 and 100 (over 110) rainbow flowers to activate levels 111 to 120.

120 rainbow flowers - 100%
Follow the ninja steps on each levels ... everywhere !



Character

No Death
Do not let your character or offsprings die.


No jump and catch
Do not use the jump and catch technique shattering the logic of levels.



Save

When the game saves, it automatically creates a back up of your previous saved game. In your saved game directory you'll find a series of back up saved game files. They're all named something like this: "save_1392059033" The numbers are a time stamp of when the particular file was created. If for some reason your save file gets corrupted, you can replace your save file with one of the back ups to attempt to restore it.

Windows 7 : " "Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\offspringfling\Local Store\"

To restore a saved game using one of the back ups, first make sure that the game is not currently running. You can then rename your current "save" file to something else. You can rename it to "poop" if you want. Then take one of your back ups (one of the save_13390510972 files) and rename that to "save" When you launch the game it should now load from your back up that was renamed to "save"
