Introduction

Note: There have been look-a-like copycat guides popping up. If it's not labeled by THN (The Horror Network), it's NOT one of mine and therefore not up to the quality that I aim to provide.

Welcome to the Dead Island Riptide Definitive Edition achievement guide.

Much like the first game, this one also has a heavy reliance on co-op partners if you're looking to get the full 100% here. Most notably, you will need a co-op partner to finish every main mission with. It doesn't have to be the same person, but it's best to find a buddy who is also in it for the long haul just so you don't accidentally complete a main mission without them. Feel free to use the comment section of this guide to find someone.

Otherwise, the achievements are pretty straight-forward once again. Kill zombies in X way, complete all the quests, find all the collectibles, etc. This time, there are TWO MISSABLE achievements, however. Serving Science and First Do No Harm, both of which are for simply completing certain quests; which you should already be doing anyway for the full 100%.

This guide is considered COMPLETE

Co-op & Leveling
Dream Team
Complete all the main quests cooperatively with any number of partners
Theoretically, this shouldn't take too long if you and your partner zip through only the essential quests. There are 28 main story missions that must be completed. You can do it with one person, or a hundred, doesn't matter as long as you do each of the main story quests with someone else.

It's an Order
Mark 100 opponents which were then killed by your co-op partners
When you're in a co-op game, aim at an enemy and press C to mark them. Do this 100 times while also letting your buddy take the foe out.

Obtain level 50
Obtain level 50
In Dead Island Riptide, you can import your character from Dead Island. It's highly, highly advisable to get your Dead Island character to 50, or even 60, by using the Champagne duplication and turn-in exploit before importing them. Otherwise, this is going to be an excruciatingly long grind as Riptide is much shorter. Once you import your character, use a medkit or kill your first zombie to unlock this achievement. If you choose to do an entirely new character, you should get this by the end of the game if you do every quest.

Obtain level 70
Obtain level 70
Assuming you used the Dead Island exploit of duplicating Champagne and turning it in for infinite XP, you should already be level 60 when you import your character. Otherwise, if you start a new character, you're only going to be around level 55 or under by the time you finish the game. If you did import a level 60 character, you should get up to 70 naturally by the end of the campaign. If you started new, then you'll need to either grind out through New Game+ or use an XP exploit.

Kill Related
King among Kings
Kill special enemies: Grenadier, Thug, Wrestler, Infected, Suicider, Screamer, Butcher, Floater.
You'll come into contact with each of these special zombies throughout the main campaign. No reason to go out of your way for this one, it's almost impossible to miss.

Twins
Kill the Twins
The Twins are two special zombies, and they're located at the Palai Ferry Station. You'll run into the first one not long after you get out of the tunnels and reach the beach. The second one is in a storage warehouse, to the right of the Ferry Station. To get inside, climb up the billboard, grab all the items inside the truck bed. After you do this, the warehouse doors will open, zombies will come out, and the Twin will stay inside. If the Twin doesn't happen to be there, go and complete a few quests and come back and try again. This one can be finicky to get to spawn.

BrainLess
Kill 50 monsters by smashing, decapitating or shooting them in the head
This will probably be one of the first achievements you get. Just keep aiming for the head while you're whacking away at zombies, or aim for the head while you're shooting them.

Better than the arm
Kill 25 monsters with a chainsaw
You won't actually get a chainsaw until the side quest "Genre: Horror Slasher"; given by Dave in Makat Village. You'll be led to a Dead Zone which has six zombies inside, the chainsaw is at the end of the ally near the generator. It deals a lot of damage, so you just have to slightly tap the attack button to mutilate foes.

The Hurt Mine Locker
Kill 10 monsters with one mine
In Chapter 13, explosive mines will infinitely respawn on top of the roof of the Old Town Cinema in Henderson. Go grab one and head to the Ferry Station. It's easy to get 10 or more zombies to gather up here, so just jump on top of a car with your group in tow or fire off some rounds into the air to aggro them to your location. Drop the mine and watch everyone go boom.

Hurler
Kill 100 monsters with thrown melee weapons
You can throw every melee weapon in the game except for the brass knuckles. Hold down right click, then press left click to throw a weapon. You can go and pick it up and throw it over and over again to kill a zombie, or whittle their health down and then lob the weapon at them as a finishing blow.

Bully
Kill 100 monsters with a kick
Every character can kick. Simply spam E, but it consumes stamina. You can also get the Zombie Stomp ability from the combat tree so that when a foe is on the ground, you can press E to destroy their heads instantly.

Jetboat
Kill 100 monsters using the boat's speed boost
Once you get to the main story mission "New Beginnings", you will have access to a boat. While you're in it, drive around the river and hold Shift to use the boost, which will instantly kill enemies. There are around 40-50 zombies in the water, so after you kill them all just reload your checkpoint and kill some more.

Juggernaut
Kill 100 enemies using charge attacks
Charge is a new ability available in the skill trees for all characters. To do a charge attack, press Shift to run and then R. It doesn't do a lot of damage, so you'll need to weaken the enemies first with a few blows of a weapon.

Hunter-Seeker
Find and kill all named champion monsters located in dead zones
There is a total of 13 Dead Zones in the game. I've provided a list of the locations. You can go to Quests in your main menu and check out your completed side quests to keep track of which ones you've done. Only 1 comes naturally through the story, the rest you'll have to take the initiative on.

Flooded Jungle
  • 1. James Nisira’s Bungalow – James “Kille”r Nisira - You can find James in his Bungalow in the Oil Storage area a little down the road from Paradise Survival Camp.
  • 2. Halai Villiage– Joe “Ogre” Somare - When you go to save the local hero, Marcus you’ll find Joe the butcher here, so you can’t miss him as he is part of the main quest.
  • 3. Ocean View Bungalows – Eduardo “Quick Death” Petoia - Down the lower right in Halai Villiage is the Ocean View Bungalows dead zone.
  • 4. Jimmy O’neils cave – Jimmy “Deathtrap” O’neil - Jimmy’s cave is up north and a little bit to the right of the Helicopter Wreck on the map.
  • 5. Peter Spicer’s Shack – Peter “the Undying” W. Spicer - Just head a little left of where Jimmy’s cave was and you’ll find Pete’s shack here in the Breri Outpost.
  • 6. Olivier Weng’s Hideout – Olivier “Deathbone” Wenge - Oliver’s little hideout is just down the road from Pete’s shack directly up north in the middle of the map. You’ll see a dirt road that goes up to a cave where you’ll find him.
Henderson City
  • 7. Frankie O’Hara’s Apartment – Frankie “The Scourge” O’Hara - Frankie’s apartment is just a little up north from the Old Town Cinema on the map. You can actually grab this when you are heading down when you first get to Henderson.
  • 8. Metzger Sloat’s Hideout – Metzger “Skullcrusher” Sloat - This one is the next building south between the Church and Old Cinema.
  • 9. Geoffrey Nape’s Warehouse – Geoffrey “Walking Carcass” Nape - Geoffrey’s warehouse is about middle left on the map and just south of the military entrance.
  • 10. DR. JJ Evan’s Clinic – Doctor “Scar” J J Evans - This is just a little farther south of Geffrey’s warehouse. Just keep yourself near the west wall and walk down to find his clinic.
  • 11. George Serero’s Apartment – George “Body Eater” Serero - Just keep heading down south of the wall from the clinic because you’ll find his apartment right after another dead zone entrance.
  • 12. BJoel Chubalba’s motel – Joel “Blackheart” Chubalba - You’ll find the motel south and to the left. It is west of the sea market on the left side, so you can’t miss as it is the only entrance in that area.
  • 13. Ogio Moke’s Laundry – Ogio “Blindspot” Moke - This entrance is on the bottom right of the map just a little up north near the entry point for the helicopter crash in Henderson.

The Hoarder
Find all collectibles
There is a total of 61 collectibles in this release. To check what you've collected so far, go to your inventory screen and go to the collectibles tab. There are 10 diaries, 17 guide book pages, 15 postcards, 9 secret files, and 10 voice recordings. They all carry between playthroughs, so nothing is technically missable. Just avoid accepting the main quest "With the Tide" until you collect everything, as it is the point of no return.

Misc.
Achiever
Finish all quests in the game
There are 80 missions in total in the game. 28 main, 26 side, 14 rescue, and 13 Dead Zone bosses. The main quest "With the Tide" is a point of no return. If you are missing anything by this point, you need to refuse to continue and go clean up whatever you're missing.

Serving Science
Finish quests for Dr. Kessler
If you're going for Achiever you'll get this naturally. Dr. Kessler is located inside the Research Laboratory, in the Flooded Jungle. He'll give you the side quest called "History Lesson".

First Do No Harm
Finish hospital quests for Cecil
If you're going for Achiever you'll get this naturally. Cecil is located inside the Makeshift Hospital, in Henderson. He will give you two side quests, "The Darkness" and Healthcare".

Siege Hammer
Install a total of 5 barricades during hub defense
After landing on the island you'll eventually get with the rest of your crew and you will be tasked with setting up 5 fences. Once they're up, defend yourself from the horde, but let them break down each fence and then put them back up. You can also get this during main quests "Stalwart Defense", "Terminal Siege", and "Evacuation".

At Your Service
Rescue 20 NPCs that have been grabbed by monsters
The description is a bit misleading as this can be done on the same NPCs over and over again; it doesn't have to be 20 different ones. While roaming around, you'll come across groups of survivors that are getting mauled by zombies. Just wait until one of them starts to get taken over by an enemy, a circle will appear over their head. Go knock the zombie away from them.

As for the achievement "Achiever", the 80 missions are:
• Main Quests - 29 (and not 28!)
• Side Quests - 25 (and not 26!)
• Dead Zone Bosses - 12 (and not 13!)
• Rescue Quests - 14

There are 13 Boss Zombies, yes, but you kill Joe "Ogre" Somare during the main quest "Saving Holy Man". For this reason, he isn't listed as a separate quest.

You should get the achievement "Achiever" before boarding the boat. If not, one or more side quests are missing.

I have some questions:
1- Can I beat the game and go back to look for the collectibles or to kill the remaining zombies?
2 - Let's say I start a new game, does the progress stacks for the new game?

Can anyone say if the two missable achievements are still possible to do at any time even up till the end (even after the last "boss") as long as you don't get on the boat?

Great guide ! is there any special thing to do for "Dream Team" achievement? it's not counting/adding, maybe glitched only that? I'm doing missions with a friend and unlocking correctly individual mission achievements and other cooperative achievements.
