A couple of limitations with Okranite lands are that they don't tolerate skeletons or growing hemp. But can keep those hidden, as long as you have at least one human who can meet the priest dude.
and always go into gameplay options to turn your multipliers ALL the way UP. trust. do not fear death.
and remember you can heal your way into the hearts of the fogmen and the spiders
1 right above the waypoint under the hub there is a large plateau with ample resources. great resources and wind power. you can pay off the dust bandits and the shek only want your food. the part of this location is you are central in the map for travel. not the most fertile but you will have enough power to run as many wells and hydroponics. lack of animals for skins to leather but you can always automate a char to the peeler
2 fishman isle. fish people will eat you and are some healthy cuties, but the fertility of the north east side of the island gives you 150% to hemp as it is 100% green and 50% swamp. fish people usually don't do weapons or armor and have low stats just tons of them so carry heavy weapons and a few turrets would always help keep the area clean. crabs come by too which are cute AF and provide lots of meat. low on animal skins and friendlies but you can always auto peeler the fish cuties.
Just a small note to Shem: While it's my prefered area to settle down, you should be aware of break things. On my current game I settled down there with 5 people with kinda crappy equip and combat stats around lvl 20. Kinda tough life until I managed to finish my defenses.
For beginners with only humans (or at least no skeletons) I can strongly reccomend Okram's Pride, since it's kinda peaceful because of the HN patrols and the only "taxation" is a priest that shows up every few days for a prayer. Even if there are lots of (mostly funny) ways of upsetting him, I wouldn't reccomend this until you decided to move away.
