Before you start
Hi there! So let's start! :)

When you choose First Mission to play with game will introduce you to base gameplay first.

IMPORTANT
Builders of Egypt: Prologue offers for now two free missions. More missions will be added along with base game development progress.

You can either follow steps in in-game short tutorial or skip it if you don't want to build in order that game will require from you. Tutorial will introduce you to the most basic aspects of the game so it's quite useful but some players enjoy discovering on their own so it's for you to decide which approach is better for you. :)

IMPORTANT
Save game feature has been activated with game version 50A.
All you need is bread!
What can I say? Bread is life! :XD

Without bread you can't build, open trading routes or pay your people for their hard work and only thing they do is work for you :XD. In other words bread is your currency and you pay for everything with your most valued bread.

Notes regarding demolish tool (building cost refund will depend on game's difficulty)
  • Demolition of undamaged building - 100% refund of normal building cots (on easy difficulty)
  • Demolition of damaged building - depends on building, example: size 2 x 2 size gives you 10 bread refund
  • Conditions for refund on other difficulty levels will be implemented in final release.
Housing and roads
All of buildings in game need proper access so remember to build roads next to your buildings. If you don't do it, game will notify you about lacking access.

IMPORTANT Roads should be built in a way that minimizes the time for your workers to get to certain buildings so for example - if you want to achieve higher efficiency in transporting straw from Farms to Stoclpiles remember to make a short direct connection.

Empty houses will trigger people arrival. Your houses will evolve once you met housing requirements such as water access, bazaar access etc.

Examples of houses accommodation:
House Level 1 - 5 dwellers.
House Level 2 - 7 dwellers.

Houses and roads can be found in House and road TAB.

Well, bazaar and fire station ;)
The most important thing in housing evolving process is to supply it with water and delicious, plain food - in First Mission available food are wheat and fish.

Water is provided by well and regarding food - it's distributed by bazaar's workers.
Well can be found in Sanitary TAB.
Bazaar and Firestation can be found in Administrative Buildings TAB.

Transport routes for food
Farm (wheat) -> Granary -> Bazaar - > House
Fishing Wharf (fish) -> Granary -> Bazaar - > House

One well can support only a few houses so it needs to be placed in strategic spots to cover as many houses as possible. Wells can't be build everywhere so remember to place them near "green zones". :)

Second important thing is to prevent buildings from catching fire and for that we have Fire Station. It has quite large radius so you don't need to build a lot of them at the beginning. With your settlement expansion remember to check radius in fires tab and cover city area with fire stations.

Food production - wheat, fish and Granary
As you can see above in order to have proper food distribution you need at least one Granary and bazaars :). Bazaars amount depend on how big your settlement is. The more houses you have, the more bazaars you need to met your people expectations.

Wheat farm will not only give you wheat but also supply of straw, needed at Brick Maker to produce bricks .

Farm and fishing wharf can be found in Food Production TAB.
Granary can be found in Administrative Buildings TAB.

User-friendly interface will show you flood season, harvest season and much more. ;)

Another spot for 2 additional fishing wharfs

Stockpiles settings
Each stockpiles has a setting for gathering, export and collecting.

GATHER - to collect goods, transport them to stockpile and transport to other buildings using those goods.

EXPORT - to export goods and make them available for trader from Abydos.

COLLECT - to gather and store specific goods in your stockpile, goods won't be transported to other buildings.

Ware production
First Mission in Prologue offers possibility to mine clay and to produce bricks and pottery.

Transport routes for ware production:
Clay pit -> clay transported to Stockpile -> clay transported from Stockpile to Brick Maker.
Farm -> straw transported to Stockpile -> straw transported from Stockpile to Brick Maker.
Brick Maker -> brick transported to Stockpile -> brick transported from Stockpile to Potter.
Potter -> pottery transported to Stockpile.

Clay pit, Brick Maker and Potter can be found in Ware Production TAB.

Clay, straw, bricks, pottery can be traded with another city in order to receive additional bread.

Diplomatic missions
Fulfilling request from another city will give you additional bread and believe me, you want to be overwhelmed by Egyptians bread. :)

Trade with another city
Trading with another city is the most beneficial part about this game.
Traders will pay you for your goods in bread. Once in a while they will visit your city and go straight to your Stockpiles to see what are you offering.
Goods for export can be set up in Economy TAB.

IMPORTANT Lowering wages or making your taxes higher won't give you the same profit as trading with another city. Taxes are not implemented yet.

Trade route costs 200 bread. In First Mission you can trade only with one city - Abydos.

New World Map available with branch 60A

Abydos - trading city

Fulfilling First Mission's goals
Once you fulfill all of First Mission's goals you can play freely and expand your majestic settlement! :)
From time to time other cities will ask you for additional goods such as clay, straw, brick, pottery. Try to fulfill their requests, the more bread you have the better for you, especially when you want to expand and build an empire. :)

Playing with negative bread will have in final game consequences so managing bread is the most important thing.

User Interface
Game offers a nice set of user-friendly configuration.

A quick way to Victory :)
Your settlement in Prologue should be entirely based on income from trading with Abydos.

1. Build 8 houses. Build well, fire station and bazaar near those houses.
2. Build fishing wharf near the Nile River and 2-3 farms. Build a Granary.
3. Build Clay pit at clay spot (game has few of them available), Brick Maker and Stockpile.
4. Remember to set trade route with Abydos in order to receive from time to time Abydos's Traders. Turn on clay and brick in Economy TAB for export. Set it before you run out of your "bread" currency.
5. Once your settlement is filled with more people (workers) you can build another well and a few more houses (bazaar if needed) and focus mainly on bricks making by building another Clay pit and second Brick Maker.
6. At this point your clay pits will produce enough clay and farms will give you enough straw to have stable bricks production and fixed bread income. :)
7. Don't rush into building an empire before your settlement isn't flowing with "steady" bread as you will need a lot of bread to progress further.
8. There is no need for you to lower wages or setting up higher taxes. Be kind to your people. Trading with Abydos will be sufficient enough to achieve your Goal! :)

How are you supposed to rotate buildings? I can't place my fire station, and the tutorial doesn't mention how to do that.

Love where this game is going. One thing I have noticed having played the prologue many times... house fall and rise in rank too quickly. The second a house does not have access to bazzar the house degrades very fast. Bazaars are stocked, houses are within rang, but they degrade and regrade constantly. Perhaps it is a balancing issues you are working on. However it is annoying. I would prefer a more balanced degradation... give it a minute or two before it degrades.
Cannot wait for the full game release !

No, there is none. Trade works normally. Did you set up trade properly? Did you do all of the steps from the guide?

I can not trade in first mission. İs there any bug in this game?

Each building needs to be rotated, did you rotate fire station????
Jazzwind Aug 23, 2021 @ 8:08am
I can't build the fire station. Following the beginning guide, I move over the selected area, and nothing happens. I built roads, destroyed roads, built houses. There's no short cut for building anything other than roads and houses. This became infuriating, very quickly.

Please add screenshot from your game. Houses need road access
