Perfect cornering in Grid 2 [video compilation]
By Zodh
The purpose of this video is to show that Grid 2 has unique and exciting “drift-to-win” physics, meaning that drifting around corners is faster than classical “brake and grip through the corner”.

What this is all about.
Here's what you need to do:
1) Slow down as much so you don’t miss the apex and start to drift towards it.
2) Hand-brake can help you reduce understeer (usually on FWD and AWD cars), if it’s not enough, go for the scandinavian flick[en.wikipedia.org].
3) Keep your drifting angle as low as possible so by the end of the drift your car is already straightened; drifting is not optimal if you need to “correct” your tail at the corner exit after drifting too much.
4) To chain multiple corners you need to drift all the way through corners without straightening out for more than a moment as the rear end swings around; it’s all about shifting the weight of a car properly to avoid understeer and maintain high speed.
5) Manual gearbox may be a better choice, because auto gearbox tends to shift in the middle of a drift which can interrupt it. Not to mention that you can use a higher gear for more stability (understeer) and a lower gear for high revs and more oversteer.

My controller:
Logitech G27 Racing Wheel[gaming.logitech.com] with manual gearbox.

Harmless mods used:
Solid Carbon HUD mod[www.racedepartment.com].
Raised camera height mod[www.racedepartment.com].
Video demonstration.

One of the best handling models I've experienced in a racing game. I can not believe just how many people hate it. I also can not believe how they all just want to follow "racing line" in every damn game as if that's any fun at all

drifting is faster, yes. Went same university as Homer Simpson.

Is drifting faster for drift style cars only? Or is it fastest to drift even on balanced or grip cars?

Depends on your experience from previous games. If you know how to drift then it shouldn't be a problem.

I suggest you practice with best cars right away: T1 Chevrolet z28, T2 Mercedes c63, T3 Chevrolet z06, T4 Koenigsegg Agera. Pick a track offline and master it in each tier - this will give you the overall handling experience, then you can go online and learn tracks. There should be guides on upgrades.

When racing online - find your "safe pace" (risk-free drifting around corners without crashing) and stick to it. You'll improve over time, it's just a matter of practice.

You can also look up my videos (here or youtube), use them as a reference (lap time, racing line, drifting angles, etc). Good luck!

So I require practice, right?
I mean, like months of it...
