Introduction

Note: There have been look-a-like copycat guides popping up. If it's not labeled by THN (The Horror Network), it's NOT one of mine and therefore not up to the quality that I aim to provide.

Welcome to the Metro: Exodus achievement guide.

If this is your first delve into the world of Metro, then you're in for a treat. If you're a returning player, the gameplay and achievements are more or less what they were from previous titles. Overall, the base game isn't too hard to get the full 100% on, although completing the game on Ranger Hardcore (very minimal HUD mode, hardest difficulty) may be daunting for newcomers.

There are four missable achievements to watch out for; Full Strength, Eternal Voyage, Your Destination, and Dressed For Success. The rest can be obtained via chapter select.

Several playthroughs will be necessary for a full 100% of the main campaign, but ultimately it's up to you to mix and match them to your skill level and what you personally feel comfortable with. These are the necessary end-game requirements to a 100%:

Obtaining the good ending.
Obtaining the bad ending.
Keep all 3 crew members alive.
Completing the game on Ranger Hardcore.
Completing New Game+ with at least one modifier on.
Completing New Game+ with Iron Mode enabled.

It's suggested to complete the game as such:

Playthrough One: Obtain the bad ending (no stealth required) on Reader difficulty while picking up all collectibles and completing as many other achievements as possible.
Playthrough Two: Obtain the good ending (a lot of stealth required) while keeping all 3 crew members alive on Ranger Hardcore mode while strictly focusing on the primary campaign.
Playthrough Three: New Game+ Mode on Reader difficulty with Iron Mode enabled. Iron Mode counts as a modifier.

This guide is considered COMPLETE

Crew Members
Full Strength
Duke and Damir stay with the crew, Alyosha doesn’t get wounded.
You need to fulfil some requirments on The Volga, The Caspian, and The Tiga, so that the crew members stay with you until the end of the game. It is also essential for the good ending, which is tied to the Your Destination achievement. Check out Duke, Damir, and Alyosha for the specific requirements for each member. If you managed to keep all three members with you, this achievement will pop at the end of the game.

Duke
Duke survives.
This takes place within the Volga level. Stay on neutral ground with the cult and complete the two boat areas at the end in total stealth. If you are spotted, reload your game; lest Duke dies. It may be possible to get caught and still have Duke survive, but it's not guaranteed. You will also need to be stealthy and non-lethal in the church area to obtain a moral point.

Damir
Damir stays with crew.
This takes place within The Caspian level. If you meet all of the below requirements, Damir will join you at the end of the level.
  • Knock out the ambushing thug who appears early in the level. Don't kill him.
  • Outside of the Lighthouse, knock out all slaves. Do not kill them.
  • In the bunker, find the photo of Giul's mother. It's in a side room to the left of the collectible Diary Page "Image Analysis". This is near the map archive.
  • Free all of the slaves in the abandoned ship that Anna marks on your map.
  • Do not kill any of the slaves that are at the Oasis. When you reach the top via the buckets, save the slaves from the cells behind where you climb up.
  • On the oil rig, do not kill any slaves. Kill the thug beating on the first slave, and knock out the thug beating the slave woman to earn more moral points. This will cause the thugs to become hostile, but the moral points are necessary.

Alyosha
Alyosha doesn’t get wounded.
This takes place within the Taiga level. Essentially, you will automatically get this if you're going for Forest Child. Olga will appear at the end of the level and Alyosha will not be hurt.
  • Do not kill any pirates or pioneers, or knock them out.

Endings & Difficulty
Hardcore
Complete the game in Ranger Hardcore mode.
This mode is available from the beginning of the game. It is the hardest difficulty, and it also offers an extremely minimalistic HUD. Quicksaves are disabled, enemies are far more alert and can see longer distances. Stick to stealth. Make use of the gratuitous amount of checkpoints, and stay true to the main missions. If you're having problems, there are plenty of YouTube and written guides on the web for this difficulty.

Mutation
Complete the game in New Game+ mode using any modification.
Once you complete the game, you'll be able to reload your save for a New Game+. When launching the campaign this time, you'll have a choice of a wide variety of new modifiers; some which make the game more hard and challenging, and some that are more fun. Choose whatever one you like. This is good to pair with Iron Mode, though.

Iron Mode
Complete the game in Iron Mode.
Iron Mode is a modifier than can be enabled with New Game+, but not any sooner. So you'll have to complete the campaign at least once to enable it. Iron Mode prevents you from using any save states during a level. The only checkpoints and saves made on your file will be at the beginning, and upon completion, of each level.

Your Destination
Assume command of the Order.
This is the good ending. You need to make sure that 2 of your 3 members survive with you until the end of the game. You also need to avoid killing innocents, such as slaves, prisoners, and surrendering enemies. Focus on making good choices for moral points. Refer to the Full Strength, Duke, Damir, and Alyosha achievements for more information on helping them survive.

Eternal Voyage
Save Anna by paying the ultimate price.
This is the bad ending. To unlock it, you need to make sure that 2 of your 3 members do not make it to the end of the game. You will need to kill slaves, prisoners, and surrendering enemies. Act like a jerk, to decrease your moral points. So long as at least two of your crew members die, you will get this ending. Some good measures to go through to make sure this happens include:

  • The Volga: Kill the cult members in the church. Get detected on the bridge; Duke will die. Kill the prisoners in the bandit camp that give you a key.
  • The Caspian: Kill the thug that ambushes you from above, kill the slaves that are outside of the lighthouse, do not free any slaves, and kill every slave that you meet.
  • The Taiga: Kill the bandit that's tied to the post, kill the pirates and pioneers in the camps. Make sure Damir leaves.

Kill Related
Antibiotic
Kill 300 mutants.
Mutants are all non-human enemies. This one will simply come with time.

Headhunter
Kill 300 human enemies.
Best saved for your bad ending playthrough. There are not many mandatory human enemy fights, so you'll need to kill pretty much everyone you come across. Take advantage of side-missions, where you'll go into bandit camps. If you're going for the good ending, don't kill any surrendering foes.

Righteous vengeance
Kill 90 cannibals.
After the cutscene in Yamantau, where you are freed by the crew, there will be an ambush of infinitely spawning cannibals. Seize this opportunity to farm the kills. A quicksave will negate permanently expending precious ammo.

Saboteur
Melee-kill or stun 50 enemies.
This isn't very hard. Just slam V on every enemy you encounter until this one pops. The only downside is that melee hits are inconsistent and you'll miss a lot.

Carmaheddon
Make 50 kills with the Bukhanka.
The Bukhanka is the van that you get during the Caspian level. While you are using it to travel, enemies will spawn in groups. Just run them over.

Silent marksman
Kill 30 enemies with Tikhar.
You will obtain the Tikhar as part of the story in Volga, it's the pneumatic weapon. Just kill 30 enemies with it.

Robin Hood
Kill 30 enemies with Crossbow.
Helsing, aka the Crossbow, is located on a statue near the beginning of the Taiga chapter. Kill 30 enemies with it.

Stand back
Kill 50 enemies at long distance.
This vague achievement will probably not come naturally to anyone, so there's a really good place to farm it. Load up (or wait until you get to) Caspian. Anna will give you a side-mission to take out a sniper in a tower in the middle of the map. Go up, take him out, pick up the sniper rifle, and create a quick save. Go outside and about 10 thugs will start shooting at you. Pick them off with the sniper rifle, then reload your quicksave. Rinse and repeat.

Kaleidoscope
Kill 3 enemies using sniper scope while wearing the Gas mask and using the Night Vision goggles.
The Night Vision goggles are an upgrade that is located in the depot on the far right of the map in Volga. You'll go there during the story, so don't worry; near the end, Anna contacts you via radio, there's a door half-opened, and you can go through there and another door. The goggles are then just on a candle-lit table. Sniper scopes are simply mods looted off weapons and enemies. Put on your gas mask, enable your night vision, equip any weapon with at least a 4x zoom, and kill 3 foes.

Firebird
Kill a demon with fire.
Demons are the huge flying entities that were also present in 2033 and Last Light. This achievement is easily obtained while getting the teddy bear that Nastya asks you to get, as it is right in front of a Demon who is nesting. Head up the silo with a few molotovs at the ready and lob them into the nest before it can fly away.
Collectibles
Librarian
Find all 70 hidden Diary pages.
Contrary to the achievement description, there are actually 71 Diary Pages. You need ALL 71 to unlock this achievement! A great all-in-one guide for Diary Pages, Post Cards, and Suit Upgrades is located HERE[www.powerpyx.com].

Old world pictures
Find all 21 post cards.
There are a total of 21 Post Cards in the game. A great all-in-one guide for Diary Pages, Post Cards, and Suit Upgrades is located HERE[www.powerpyx.com].

Dressed for Success
Find all upgrades for Artyom’s suit.
There are several upgrades for Artyom's suit, and they are found throughout the Volga and Caspian levels; 8 and 5 to find, respectively. With them, you'll get a higher ammo capacity, increased armor, a better flashlight, etc. These do not carry over when you use chapter select, so this is missable in a sense. For example, if you missed an upgrade on Volga, you'll have to play from that point all the way up and through finding the upgrades again in Caspian. A great all-in-one guide for Diary Pages, Post Cards, and Suit Upgrades is located HERE[www.powerpyx.com].

Toy seller
Find 3 toys in New Game+ mode: teddy bear, sun and fish.
To go for this, you need to complete the campaign at least once and then start up New Game+ mode. As a note, Nastya's teddy bear for Friends of the Crew does NOT count toward this achievement. Each collectible is on a different level.

  • The Fish is on Volga. Near the end of the level, where you secure the railcar, there is a side room where you lure the big Catfish (where you get the Fisherman achievement). Turn left after walking into this room, and you'll see a boat standing upright against a wall and a fish hanging in the middle of it.
  • The Sun is on Caspian. It's in the Hermit's ship. If you did the diary collectibles, you would've had to come here at some point. The collectible is easy to miss, as it's on a shelf filled with cardboard boxes and it's hard to see.
  • The Bear is on Taiga. It's in the schoolhouse at the beginning of the level, before the bridge where the pirates yell at you. Entering the building, turn right, go through the doorway, and the toy will be on the left-hand side of the room hanging from a window frame. It's right above Nastya's actual teddy bear.

Misc.
Martian
Patch the Gasmask.
Probably one of the first achievements you'll get. Sometimes when you get attacked, your Gasmask will get damaged. Just press G to patch it.

Last Breath
After running out of filters in a hazard zone, craft a new one while suffocating.
Go somewhere that you have to use your Gasmask, make a quicksave, go into your inventory and dismantle all your filters, and make a new one while you're gasping for air. Reload your save afterward.

Join us on air
Find a tune on the radio.
The radio is available between levels, on the train. Tune the radio slowly until you hear some music.

Brakeman
Detach all train cars on the MOSCOW level.
Near the end of the Moscow level, after you jump to the enemy train, you will be able to detach train cars as you continue. This can be done via the red levers on the sides. Just hold E when prompted, and they will be unhooked.

Friend of the Crew
Find the guitar and teddy bear on the VOLGA level.
After you talk to Miller about the rail car, speak with the little girl named Nastya. She'll ask you to find a teddy bear, and will subsequently mark the location on your map; it's located at the very top of a silo. The guitar is in a bandit camp in the lower-center area; Idiot and Damir will mark it on your map, just make sure to talk to them after Nastya gives you her quest. Go up the tower in the center of the camp and you'll see it leaning against a rail.

Fisherman
Kill the Catfish.
When you use the boats around Volga, you'll see a giant mutated Catfish in the water. It can't be killed with guns, this achievement has to be done in a specific location at the very end of the level. You'll come across a depot where the Catfish will attack you repeatedly. There's an area that you'll have to pull a bell and drop a body. It's difficult to explain, so check out the video.

Roller coaster
Use the bucket lift on the CASPIAN level to reach the Oasis.
The story will lead you to an oasis, and you'll go through a cave area that takes you to a bucket lift. The lift will take you to the top. Simply stealthily approach the lift as not to blow your cover, and wait for the guards to leave so you can get on.

Forest child
Complete the TAIGA level without attacking anyone or getting noticed.
For this achievement, you can't even knock out enemies; no damage, no knockouts, and no getting spotted. You can be heard and investigated, but if you start being shot at, you're done for. Play on Reader difficulty, and sneak through the enemy camps only at night; it's pretty well impossible during the day. In the swamp camp, ensure the enemies aren't facing you as they will always spot you if they are. Use quicksaves as much as possible.

Decommunization
Destroy the biggest statue in front of the children’s camp on the TAIGA level.
Near the beginning of the Taiga level, you'll see a huge statue right before a small bridge; this is where the pirate gives you a warning. Simply go up to the statue and melee it.

Master of the Forest
Stand your ground against the Bear at the first encounter.
During the latter half of the Taiga level, you'll come across a bear. You need to damage it enough so it runs away. Do not go up the ladder, or you'll miss out on the trophy.

5 o'clock
Take part in the Admiral’s tea party on the TAIGA level.
In Taiga, the story will lead you to the Admiral's room. Instead of continuing onward, just sit down when he asks you to and stay put for a while. The Admiral will talk to you, you'll play the guitar, he'll fall asleep, and you'll get an achievement.

Guide
Pass the Research Facility without killing a Blind One on the DEAD CITY level.
The Blind Ones are the big gorilla-type foes that look very similar to the Librarians from the last two Metro titles. The best way to do this is to sneak past them; they can't see, but they can hear and smell you if you get in close proximity. Be wary of the broken glass that's strewn around the floor, it will alert them.

Professional
Make at least one kill with every ranged weapon.
Another achievement with a misleading description. You need to get a kill with EVERY weapon in the game; not just the long-ranged ones. Some you will acquire via story progression (Tikhar, Helsing) and the others can be found on enemy corpses or as loot. The list is as follows:

Revolver
A-shot
Shambler
Bastard Gun
Kalash
Bulldog
Gatling
Valve
Tikhar
Helsing (crossbow)

Gunsmith
Install a modification of each category on a single weapon.
There are 5 modification slots on each weapon. Mods are found from other weapons, or they can be looted from corpses and around the world itself. Just install one in each slot on any weapon.

Tidyman
Spend 500 chemical resources on cleaning weapons.
This achievement is both easy and time consuming. Your weapons degrade over time, and you will clean them often; that said, cleaning doesn't use many resources if you're on an easier difficulty. You will likely get this during your second playthrough, or while you're doing an achievement clean-up. If you want to farm it, load up Volga on Reader, jump in the water a few times so your guns get dirty, quicksave, change to Ranger Hardcore at a workbench, clean weapons, reload quicksave, repeat.

Handyman
Spend 500 consumable resources on crafting.
After you get to Volga you'll start finding resources; whether it be in containers, on bodies, etc. On lower difficulties, resources are abound and as such, this should unlock relatively hassle-free.
The Two Colonels (DLC)
New Year
Celebrate the New Year in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter.
Story related, cannot be missed.

Duty and conscience
Make a moral choice in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter.
Story related, cannot be missed.

Father and son
Provide guidance for Kirill in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter.
Story related, cannot be missed.

Real Colonel
Complete THE TWO COLONELS Chapter.
Story related, cannot be missed.

It's just a scratch
Complete THE TWO COLONELS Chapter without using any Medkits on Normal or higher difficulty.
Before starting the DLC, you need to manually adjust the difficulty to at least Normal since there is no option presented when you boot it up. Making use of constant quicksaves is a godsend for this achievement, since you can just quickly reload if you find yourself in trouble and then you can go about the whole situation differently. Your health refills between chapters, but otherwise you'll have to rely on how much you have at the start to completely get you through each level. Someone wrote a good guide on how to get this achievement HERE.

Mind you, it's quite heavy!
Kill 3 Nosalises with flamethrower's melee attack in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter.
If you're playing on Normal, it will generally take 3-4 hits to down a Nosalises, and they're only present in the third level. You'll come across them when you're waiting for the power to come back on so you can open a door; it is best to farm this achievement here, since there are quite a few of them that come out. Melee can be done by pressing V.

Dodge master
Dodge all of the Blind One's throwing attacks in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter.
Near the end of the DLC, which is close to the end of the third chapter, you'll go over a ramp that is made up of rubble and into a small room. Make a manual save before entering the room, just in case you mess up. A ton of Nosalises will come out of the vents, and once you kill them all and trigger a cutscene, a Blind One will appear. A good strategy is to stay close to the Blind One, that way he's less likely to trigger his throws as he will only really do them if you're at a distance. That said, there's one scripted throw attack that's done that you have to avoid, and that's at the very start of the fight. He will always throw a Nosalises at you, so just start sprinting as soon as you're able to; get close to him, unload on him with a flamethrower which will stagger him. If you have too many problems, lower the difficulty to Reader (unless you're going for It's just a scratch).

The whole picture
Find all 9 hidden Diary pages in THE TWO COLONELS Chapter.
What would a DLC be without more collectibles? There are 8 Diary Pages in this DLC. Refer to the video below for the locations.

Sam's Story (DLC)
The Last Hero
Complete the SAM'S STORY chapter.
Story related, cannot be missed.

Untouchable
Complete SAM'S STORY on Normal or higher difficulty without dying in Batwing encounters.
When you start Sam's Story, make sure to manually set the difficulty to Normal; or higher, if that's your thing, but it isn't recommended for achievement hunting. The Batwing is a new enemy to the series, but it's modeled after the flying demons, only bigger and more "boss fightier". You will fight this enemy three times over the course of the DLC, so unless you die this achievement is hard to miss. As soon as you enter the encounters, be sure to quicksave in case you make a mistake. Keep stocked on medkits as much as possible. You will come across the Batwing at the beginning of the DLC, when you're in the scrapyard, and after you recover the anti-radiation suit.

A Man of Principle
Complete the SAM'S STORY chapter earning the Captain's full trust.
Okay, there's a lot to this one, but it's pretty easy. Make sure to have your hints turned on, or you're going to miss some of the requirements for this achievement. When you complete a task that the Captain gives you, you'll see your screen flash; it's similar to the moral point system in the base game. The tasks he will give you, in order, are:

  • Put your gun down when he demands it.
  • Help him move the wooden beam.
  • Spare the sniper (choose punch).
  • When he asks for food in the hideout, use the prompt to give him some.
  • Set all five traps before taking the zipline.
  • You'll find yourself on a boat in thick fog later in the campaign. There will be several areas marked on your map, but you need to go to the marshland in the middle of this central area. If you reach the location of the last Harmonica Music and Hunter Stash, you've gone too far. You'll end up on a little isle where you'll find a cassette player. Go up the metal ramp to discover a dead body, you'll radio the captain. Go down the other side, follow the linear path, after you drop down a metal trailer you'll make a comment about finding the second body. Continue on the linear path, you'll crawl under a camper. Continuing on the linear path, you'll go up a silo where a cutscene will trigger at the top.
  • At the end of the game the Captain will ask you to charge a detonator. Select the choice of using the detonator.

Cinephile
Organize a documentary screening in the SAM'S STORY chapter.
When you get to the mission, "Find the Captain", you will walk into a theatre where you face some enemies. Kill them, take the stairs to the first floor, and at the top is a working projector. Interact with it to eject a tape. There's another room in this small location that will have a lot of tapes in it. Go up to the shelves and interact with it to find a new tape. Take it, go back to the projector, and interact with the projector again.

Trapper
Set all 5 traps in the SAM'S STORY chapter as the Captain requests.
Continue the main campaign until you and the Captain get drunk and wake up the next morning. You'll be on top of the Captain's building, and he'll ask you to arm some traps for him, which you'll need 5 Molotov Cocktails to accomplish. To arm a trap, go up to it and interact with it. If you run out of Molotovs, go back to the room that you and the Captain drank in, use the bench to craft more. Traps are marked by X's and numbers on the floors and walls.

Lord of War
Collect all the upgrades for Sammy rifle and Stallion pistol in the SAM'S STORY chapter.
More upgrades, but this time for Sam's rifle and Stallion pistol. Some parts, like sights and scopes, are found on other weapons. Search the corpses of dead soldiers and collect every possible mod. You will also get laser sights and other universal upgrades from them. The below parts are specific for the Rifle and Pistol, however, and when you come across them, they will be denoted in yellow instead of white. Keep your locator wrist upgrade on for the duration of the campaign to help you find anything you may potentially miss, as it will guide you to a lot of locations.

Assault Rifle:
  • Burst Fire System (Barrel): Located on a rifle in the secret room, in the NVG outpost. In the large open room with the wooden bridge walkway, drop down below and enter the interior stairwell to reach a room behind a locked door. You’ll find upgrade parts.
  • Standard Magazine (Magazine): Found in the same hidden room as the Burst Fire System, on the same rifle.
  • Semi-Automatic System (Barrel): Located in the trap-filled building, in the center of the southern map. From the Car Dealership / Older Brother side-quest, travel through the mine-filled area filled with rats. Enter the rope ladder into the mine workshop, and go down the hallway. There’s a room to the right with this upgrade part inside.
  • Heavy Stock (Stock): Found on a gun, on the side-dock of the old Police Station that’s been turned into a bandit camp filled with captured mutants in the southern section of the map. Look for a dock with a boat and a long-dead soldier.
  • High Capacity Magazine (Magazine): On the same gun as the Heavy Stock above.
  • Sniper Stock (Stock): Found in the workbench room, right at the start of Klim’s rebellion. You’ll find the rifle in the dark corner of the room, leaning against the wall.

Stallion Pistol:
  • Balanced Grip (Handle): In the Captain’s back-up base, on the third floor, there’s a locked red door near the balcony walkway. Go around the side to kick through the painting barricade to find this pistol and a helmet suit upgrade. The pistol is under the pillow, on the bed.
  • Short Barrel And Suppressor (Barrel): On the same pistol as the Balanced Grip upgrade.
  • Reflex Sight (Sight): On the same pistol as the Balanced Grip upgrade.
  • Heavy Grip (Handle): Found in a secret cache in the Construction Site bandit base, in the center of the southern section of the map. Enter the small building to the right of the construction site, and find a small office with three switches. The code to enter is 3-1-2.
  • Long Barrel With Full Auto (Barrel): Found in the same cache as the Heavy Grip.
  • Closed Reflex Sight (Sight): Found in the same cache as the Heavy Grip.
  • Extended Magazine (Magazine): Found in the same cache as the Heavy Grip.
  • Green Laser: Found in the same cache as the Heavy Grip.
  • High-Capacity Magazine (Magazine): Located in the back room of the large mutant lair, located southeast of the Scout Outpost. You can take a boat or follow the bridge to reach it.

Music Lover
Collect all harmonica melodies in the SAM'S STORY chapter.
Of course, more collectibles! At least it's a switch up from the Diary Pages. Refer to the video guide for the location of all 9 of the Harmonica Melodies.

Great Owl
Find all the Night Hunters' secret stashes in the SAM'S STORY chapter.
There are 8 Night Hunter stashes. Refer to the video guide for more information.

a good tip for stealth:
whenever possible follow mushroms to get undetected
Relyks2000 26. lis. 2022 v 20.01
I guess this isn't made specifically for the enhanced edition so maybe that is why the difference, but for the Batwing Untouchable achievement in Sam's Story you CANNOT die and reload as it says above. You have to start over OR end up using a save glitch.

Yes, the video was correct. I'm not sure about that description, unless it is available in a second place.

The description of the location for the Sun in the "Toy Seller" seems to in no way match the location shown in the video linked. I'm getting ready to try it. Hopefully the video is correct. I'm going to try that first.

full strength not essential for good ending, i still got it w/ only duke and alyosha remaining because i forgot to hit the lever on the boat slaves to keep damir
limonbattery 22. čvc. 2021 v 21.02
It's worth noting not all these moral points are needed to save Duke and Damir. I think I only completed about half of the listed ones for Damir, and I killed the Paladins at the church section on Volga. I'm guessing the most important ones are saving slaves/villagers and no-killing at least one or two of the stealth sections each.
