Experiencing Errors?

If you're experiencing errors with your addons, I may be able to help
NOTE: I'm no lua expert but this is probably the only best way I know it

What is an ERROR?

An error is a placeholder for something that is missing it's model.
What's a missing texture/what are those black and purple checkered surface?

Missing Textures/Props are ERROR in my maps/addons!

This is quite obvious for people that have the "played for one day" achievement.
This is just for new players (they don't experiment much)
So it might look like this
That's because you didn't read the map/addon's description as to what you need to mount.
The most vital games required are: HL2: EP1 and EP2, CS:S (Counter Strike Source), Left For dead 1 and 2, and TF2 (Team Fortress 2). You don't have an excuse to not mount TF2, it's free. On the other hand, the other games are required to make sure most errors don't occur.
FAQ:
Q: How do I mount games?
A: There's a controller icon on the bottom of the screen, the games that are locked doesn't mean you have to unlock them, but you have to purchase them.
Q: Why don't I need to mount Half Life 2?
A: Garry's mod already has all the assets from HL2 (except the Super Gravity Gun which I won't explain since it spoils HL2)
Q: I still don't know how to mount games!

My addons are ERRORs!

So it can go two ways - A. it's error, or B. it won't work

IT WON'T WORK!

Chill, it means you don't have what is required or the addon creator is a dumb dumb and made lots of mistakes in their script
Dumb dumb who made alot of mistakes in their scripts

If it didn't solve your problem, disable all your addons, enable the one that won't work (along with it's requirements) and restart Garry's mod. Then slowly enable your addons to see what is conflicting won't-work addon. if it still doesn't work, I don't know what you're doing

Miscellaneous (Crashes, Addon bugs, etc.)

My game is crashing!

First, go to your LIBRARY and right click Garry's mod, then click properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Files
It shouldn't take too long, else, it's a game-breaking addon.

My addon is buggy!

There are multiple ways to do this
Report the bug, Check the discussions of the addon, and the most obvious, watch Youtubers to see how you're supposed use it

Missing textures even though the game is mounted!

The most obvious answer, you need the game installed or it'll appear locked, I'm aware of how there are tutorials on Youtube that let you get source games that can not be mounted onto steam in Garry's mod (and get the maps), but there are times you are missing textures. You can kill yourself (with the kill command in the Developer Console) or simply restart Garry's mod.

Hints to avoid getting ERRORs/Missing Textures

Hint #1: Keep track of what is causing the problem using the Developer Console

Hint #2: It's risky using unfinished addons

Hint #3: Avoid addons that aren't used by other people and check the comments if it does work or not

Hint #4: Go to the official Face-punch website to get more hints
