Disgaea 5 Tips and Achievements Guide

A guide full of tips on how to get 100% achievements and other stuff.

Introduction

Welcome Achievement Hunters and the curious alike!

I love hunting achievements and turn-based games are one of my things so I naturally love the Disgaea series. This time I decided to make a guide for Disgaea 5 to write down the things I wished I knew earlier and generally how to get those achievements, especially the 10,000 Million Damage one.

Took me about a week to complete the game but I reckon I could have done so earlier if I knew some things and read guides earlier, so here we are.

Some Notes

Enjoy the game!

Dont worry about the grind, innocents, cheat shop, item worlds, etc while you are doing the main story. You see, once you finish the main story, a lot of tools will be given to you to fast track your level to 9999 and get those stats up to the millions.

Enjoy the story ending then Rush to Carnage

Turn on Autosave from the settings

Best characters and notes on builds

I personally loved Zetta, he starts with high stats and high aptitudes and good unique skills.

Just a few notes on characters you might wish to know:
Every character unique or generic starts with weapon aptitudes and mastery ranks, but they dont matter that much because you can upgrade both in the Char World, so eventually you can have all aptitudes at 300% and all weapon masteries at Rank S, if you want, with any character.

The same goes for resistances except Star and Weapon resistances, you can upgrade your Water,Fire and Wind resistances with Innocents up to 99% resistance.

You can upgrade your weapon resistances up to +20% through innocents as well.
So if Zetta has an innate 10% resistance to monster weapons, he can have 30% monster resistance with innocents.

You can learn all evilities from generic classes by mastering their classes.
You can learn common evilities from unique characters by making the unique character do a Char World run and creating an evility scroll.

If you want a spell like Tera Ice or Tera Heal, you will unlock the Skill squad which will let you learn these common skills if you put the one that has it as leader, then practice it on the same map with the leader with the apprentice character, as long as it levels to 1, its yours.

What you CANT have in every character are unique skills and unique overloads with the exception of the netherworld overlords that join you, like Izuma who has the awesome Comet Disaster overload that hits every enemy in the map, you can replace your original overload with those through the dark assembly once you finish the game.

So pick a character that you like for their star and weapon resistances plus their unique evilities and unique skills, like the Sage's Land Decimation skill which only Sages can have.

Customer Rank and Normal Weapons

Buy things in Rose Queen Co. to improve your Customer Rank.
The more Customer Rank, the better weapons, although the Carnage versions of the weapons will be 100 times better, just do this if you are finding it hard in the story to get through the stages.

Customer Rank caps at 12, you will need to pass Bills in the Assembly to unlock them but it also depends on which storyline chapter you are on.

Master Martial Training

These are the best stages to grind for levels, you unlock these after that wimp needs training, every few chapters, you can pass a bill to unlock another stage if you already cleared the one before.

The Carnage versions of these stages are 100 times better, so dont grind for Lv9999 in the normal versions, please..

Research Squad, Explorers of the Universe

You need to find a Rank 35 world to unlock the Land of Carnage so its highly advisable to start exploring as soon as you can, you can capture high level units then solicit them after Interrogating them to add them to your ranks, so you can send them into missions. Every few chapters, you will be given more ships so you can send up to 10 missions at once at the end of the main story. (another perk to rushing to finish the main story)

The Cheat Shop

As you unlock new chapters by doing the main story, you will unlock new shops and tools, I strongly suggest you dont make the game harder through the cheat shop, just use it to up your XP gain and maybe HL to get your Customer Rank up if you need new weapons.

In the Cheat Shop, you will be able to increase your gains, including Mana, HL, XP and weapon XP.

You will unlock 500 CP by completing the main story, that means you can put 500% bonus to one of the things you might need and in the post game, you can unlock another 500CP for a total of 1000% bonus to whatever you need, I strongly suggest you leave HL to a low % since selling Carnage Items (once you unlock LoC) will give you billions.

To get the remaining CP you need to fully complete the following areas that are unlocked through Bills in the Dark Assembly:

• Clear The Phantom Copies
  
• Clear The Cursed Witch
  
• Clear Possessed By Heart
  
• Clear Carnage Dimension*

*To unlock Carnage Dimension, read its section a little farther below

The Innocent Farm and the Innocent Squads

DO NOT get the final innocent aid squad upgrade that lets innocent born as subdued.
Well, at least not until you have a good supply of maxed out innocents.
Stat innocents max out at 50,000 and you want at least 20 of these for your gear.

If you breed get stack of 10000 unsubdued innocents, you will get a good percentage of the stack when it breeds, take the 1000 unsubdued innocent to the item world and you can eighttuple them right quick:
x2 from being unsubdued to subdued
x2 if the one that captures them is in the innocent hunter squad
x2 if you are in the innocent enhance route
x2 if you maxed out the innocent hunter squad and a hunter subdues them

The Alchemy Bench

When you finish the game, you will unlock the alchemy bench, use the bench to get XP potions and Mana potions for curry or to grind the Char World.

The Char World

A great tool to duplicate evilities and get extra movement and counters, not to mention evility slots!
The weapon aptitudes you get through the goal reward or tiles cap at 300%, you can also improve your weapon mastery ranks up to S. The price goes up every time you win but it gets reset after you reincarnate, so you can stack yourself with Mana Pots to grind it quickly if you need to.

You can also use the Char World to create scrolls of the common evilities you want, super useful.

Notes on Land of Carnage

The Land of Carnage

Once you finish the main storyline, you will be able to do a series of quest (in the Quest Shop) to unlock the land of Carnage, the items you get in the land of carnage are easily 100 times more powerful than their normal versions, that is why its very important to get here as quick as you can so you dont waste time grinding for inferior gear.

You need to clear several green quests in the Quest shop to unlock the stages that give you access to LoC, these are the quests you need to complete, some of these need others for you to complete first.

• Bloodthirsty Den -> Violent Challenger
  
• God of an Item -> Beautiful Assassin
  
• Chara World Victory -> Only Victors Wanted ->Winner's Only
  
• Master Researcher -> Harbinger -> Where it All Began

Once everything is done, you can pass Fight New Enemies! Bill in the Dark Assembly to unlock the stages that finally will give you access to LoC.

You dont need to do any of the carnage versions of the normal maps, if you dont want to.
I suggest you farm the carnage martial training stages for both XP and items, Christo has a good evility to spawn items that you can use or sell.

You will need to focus on getting that Rank 39 carnage weapon now, the R40 weapon is a must to get your main attack stat to around 40 million. So you need to do item worlds of high ranks and find those higher rank weapons.

There is a trick with Mushroom Soups to get a high ranked items from the get-go that will save you time. Read this guide: Gamefaq Guide by Muppet Vader [gamefaqs.gamespot.com]

Once you have your Rank 39 carnage weapon, go inside it and spam for Mystery Rooms, one of the easiest ways to get a R40 carnage weapon is to find the Mystery Room with it, but this only works if you are in a R39 carnage weapon of the type you are looking for.

The fastest way to get Mystery Rooms is getting a hold of the Explorer Evility then making copies of it through the Char World, then having a squad of 4 people go with you into zones and making sure those 4 people are in the map before you clear or skip the level.

You can get the Explorer Evility from Pirates, you can characters master the Pirate class to access the evility or copy the evility like I mentioned before.

Storyline Achievements

Just complete the normal story and these will unlock.


The First Alliance
Clear Ep. 1: Prelude to Vengeance. "The story of rebellion starts now!"



Founding an Army
Clear Ep. 2: Demon General. "Madam Seraphina, hooray!"



Some Kind of Gale

Base/HQ Achievements

These can be done inside your Base/HQ


Demon Quest
Complete 20 quests. "We'll accept any quest."



Netherworld Night Live
Watch 20 skits. "Enjoy the daily lives of demons."

The skits are the conversations you have while on base, just talk to people that have ! above their heads.


Plip! Plip!
Jump 1,000 times at the base. "Once you hop, you just can't stop."

Just jump to everywhere you go around the base, so Jump! dont walk.


Gooooooaaaaaallllll!
Reach the goal in the Chara Word. "Congratulations!"



Netherworld Solutions
Force the Dark Assembly to approve a bill. "In the end, it's all about the 'Aye.' "

When you lose a vote in the Dark Assembly you will have the option to Persuade by Force, win this and the achievo will unlock. This is my prefered method of politics.


Love With an Iron Fist
Hit allies inside the base 100 times. "Be gentle."

Once you unlock the Squad shop after a few chapters in the main storyline, assign a unit to the Life Support Squad, you need to enhance the squad with prisoners so you can unlock the ability to punch people inside the base, do this 100 times.



Gimme a Trophy!
Pass a bill that gives you a Trophy. "Yes, you earned it."

Around the middle of the story, this bill will appear, simply pass it.. with money or by force or by persuasion.



Making It Rain
Pass a bill by Paying Up 100,000,000 HL. "I hope it's worth it!"

Fail to pass a bill then choose the option to pay up to get it passed, Pay at least 100M HL.



Aren't You Tired of It...?
Eat curry for 100 days straight. "They're demons so they're fine. Please don't try this at home."

Make your own custom curry but DO NOT eat it. Let it sit there for 100 days.
You can check the number of days that have passed by going into the shop and checking your meal without eating it.
Once 100 days pass, eat the curry and this will unlock.



To Carnfinity and Beyond
Enter the Carnage Dimension. "We can't lose to the overwhelming power of Carnage!"

Read the section about Land of Carnage to see how to unlock it.



One Percenter
Obtain more than 10,000,000,000 HL. "So, whatcha gonna blow it all on?"

At the end of the game, when you are doing Rank 39 Carnage item worlds, the items you get will sell amazingly, you can also pump your cheat shop HL to 1000% and farm some final trials.


I Love Board Game Night!
Reach the goal in the Chara World on Super Overlord difficulty. "It takes a lot of gaming to get this far."

You need to unlock the land of carnage to get the quest to unlock S.Overlord Diff in Chara World.



Seasoned Rocket Rider
Discover 100 Netherworlds. "Find new frontiers!"

You dont have to have the whole 100 worlds listed in your menu, there is a counter that goes up every time a netherworld is discovered, this one is the one that counts for this achievement.

So feel free to battle those overlords or relax when someone accidentally blows up a netherworld, it still counted when it was discovered.

The fastest way to get this is to get more squads out in the universe.
You increase the squad limit up to a max of 10 as you complete chapters in the main story.

• Every battle advances one day, depending on your squad strengths and levels, the exploration rate will increase.
  
• You can use the megaphone item or the capture squad to solicit high level enemies into your roster and then assign them to exploration squads.
  
• You can recruit characters based off the highest leveled character of your party. A level around 200 or 250 will suffice to tackle R40 worlds.
  
• You can assign people to the research squad at the squad shop, enhance it too so you can discover faster.

Greater Netherworld
Achieve a population of 100 in the pocket Netherworld. "The pocket Netherworld has gotten pretty crowded."

In the interrogation room, once you unlock it, there is a Make Citizen option.
Just release 100 prisoners by making them citizens and this achievement will unlock.
The Megaphone item coupled with a Sage is a great way to farm prisoners.

Item World Achievements

Netherworld War Victory!
Repel a Netherworld in the Item World. "Just another day for you and me in the Netherworld."

In the item world, there will be raiders, or invaders which come along with their own netherworld, once you destroy a netherworld and its invaders this will unlock. Choose the Invader rote in Innocent town to improve your chances of meeting them.


The Water Feels Nice
Experience the effects of the hot springs in an Item World Mystery Room. "No peeking on the girls' side."

A mystery room in the item world, talk to the signpost to unlock.
To improve your chances of getting a mystery room choose the mystery room route and/or have a small group with the Explorer evility.



Unlosing Ranger Status
Defeat Proto Darkdeath in the Item World. "Wh-Who is this guy...!?"

Mr Egg will sometimes appear in a mystery room and sell his eggs, he will drop the egg on your item world levels and there is a small chance Darkdeth will appear.. I strongly suggest you fight him in a normal item world with Zero difficulty stars. He gets tough in stronger item worlds.

You can trap him in a square where he cant get you and then artillery fire on him until he dies.

This Belongs in a Museum
Obtain an epic item. "This is sweet!"

Items have ranks and rarity values.
To convert a Legendary item (Yellow) to an Epic Item, you need to bring its Rare Value up to 100.

There are a few ways to increase the Rare Value:

• One is to steal a Legendary Item with Artina's Evility that increases Rare by 20 after stealing.
  
• Almaz has an evility called Lucky! that increases the rare of an item found in a chest by 30, you will need to find legendary chests, you might be able to do a combo with Raspberyl's TrashPickup to deathblow chests.
  
• You can pass an Item Assembly Bill to reaise the value by 5
  
• Each time you finish a training battle (in mystery rooms), the rare value also increases.
  
• Each time you conquer NW invaders, you get a training point that improves rarity. Sapphires Bring it On Evility will give you a small boost to your Invader chance.
  

So, enable that Invader or Mystery Route or get the Explorer Evility (found in Char World) and have it on 3 or 4 characters to consistently go into M.rooms.

Remember that you can duplicate evilities through the Char world by creating scrolls at the end of it so other characters can learn the evilities.



Item Polisher
Max out an item's level. "Annihilate enemies with the weapons you've modified!"

Max level is 500, the deeper you go the more levels that show up in the Bonus list, Mystery rooms give extra levels if you clear them. I got my 500 levels around level 160 in my Rank 40 carnage weapon.



A legend in this hand
Obtain the legendary weapon in the Item World. "Only the chosen one can equip it..."

There are two ways to get this achievement:
The normal R40 weapon that needs for you to have 100 Weapon Mastery on the weapon you are in (Item world), in a mystery room you will find an altar with such weapon.
The other way is a Carnage R40 weapon, which you need to be inside an R39 carnage item.

Battle Achievements

Switching to Overload!
Use an Overload skill for the first time. "Watch closely for the power of an Overlord."



We Have a Winner!
Completely fill the Bonus Gauge. "Take everything!"


Take a Chill Pill
Activate Revenge Mode 100 times. "Your hatred makes you powerful!"


A Minor Set Back
Get a Game Over. "Let this humiliation fuel your strength."

Just get all your members out and kill them, once you cant deploy any members, the game will be over and you can reload your last autosave.



This Calls For Teamwork
Perform a Combo Skill for the first time. "This is the power of bonds!"

Combo skills are unique to non-generic classes, they are unique skills that need 2 unique characters to trigger, for example: Zetta and Pram have a devastating combo you can use.



Capture Master
Capture 100 prisoners. "Round them up!"

There are two ways to capture prisoners, one is you use the skills given by the Capture Squad and the other is to equip a Megaphone item that gives you a 30% chance to capture a defeated enemy.
You can equip your megaphone in your subweapon and it will still work.


Geo Master
Nullify all Geo Panels with a Geo Chain of 5 or more. "Find the trick and erase all of them at once!"

Your best bet for this achievement is on the item world, just put them all in the same color and make sure the Null Geo is as far from the others when you blow one up.



Netherworld in My Pocket
Call your Netherworld for the first time. "If you call it...it will come."

Once you can edit your netherworld, a new command will be available to you during battle, its called Summon. Use this command to get this.



Where the Levels End
Level up to Lv 9999. "It's just a destination, not the final stop!"

Best done in the martial trial's final trial in land of carnage with 1000%XP in cheat shop.
You can get it earlier by grinding normal final trial with 550% XP though.



Class Master
Unlock all character classes. "Master every path possible!"

You need to unlock all character classes, some can only be gotten by completing Quest board quests. Some of these quests only appear as you proceed with the storyline and some are post-content only.

You need to also have at least 5 Stars Class Mastery in every subclass for this achievement to unlock. (1 short of Mastery) (5 stars lets you create all Tiers from that class in the recruitment center)

You can change subclasses inside the Dark Assembly.

Would You Like the Combo?
Perform 20 combos. "Finish 'em off all at once!"

Create 6 archers that have the unique evility support attack and line them up against an enemy which they cannot hurt, the idea is to keep the enemy alive while all the archers attack stacking with their support ability.

The other way is to pass the assembly Bill "All out Attack" and deploy 20 members into the field to hit the same guy without killing it, lucky boards are good targets for this.



Bonus Master
Get 50 One Time Bonuses. "You're taking all the bonuses!"

In almost every normal stage, there is a one time bonus in the bonus gauge at level 9.

To unlock this achievement, you need to unlock 50 of these, it might be tricky to get the gauge all the way up to 9 so here are a few tips:

• There are one-time use potions called Fill 0.5, Fill Up, Fill G and Fill EX, they fill the gauge by 0.5/1/2/3 levels respectively.
  
• You can create this using the Alchemy Table that unlocks once you finish the game, Item worlds also have a lot of these.
  
• The Dark Assembly has a Bill to boost the Bonus Gauge by 3 as you start the level.
  
• The item Folding Fan increases bonus gain by 5% and the evility Bonus Boost gives you 10%, you can find these as rewards in random quests in the quest shop.
  
• Team attacks and Combo chains fill out the Gauge, the Archer's Support ability is great to get the combos going, you can even do this to your own allies and the gauge will fill. Make sure the ally you are targeting can handle the blows and cant counter, there is an item. You also can do this with assist spells like heals but it gives less.
  
• Critical Hits gives extra points, always have a 100% Crit Curry going and cooking. If you dont know how to do this, its simple, make a custom curry with 100 weapons (fists) in the other category, let the curry sit for 100 days, dont eat it. Go do your stuff. Once the first curry is done simmering for 100 days, eat it and make another. The curry you just ate will last 100 days and while it expires, the curry you just made will simmer for 100 days.
  
• Killing or hitting a lot of enemies at once give extra bonuses, I went back with my Sage and its Land Decimator skill to early stages and was able to get 5 to 6 levels in a single attack. Combine your sage with the Fan and the bonus boost skill for best effects. I found that levels with 10 or more enemies worked best.

You can combine all of the above to get these done right quick.

Toughest Achievements

Damage-oholic
Deal over 10,000,000,000 damage. "Blow 'em away!"

You need at least 35M stats in your main attack stat coupled with the right evilities to increase your attack and also use all your dmg boosting methods while in the field like this: Boosted

Check out the evility list to get those nice ATK boosting evilities:

Hit them from behind for extra damage, use a +50%ATK geopanel for extra damage (found in first trial), get the combo going using archers, get out your celestial hosts for +200% extra dmg, get Usulia as magicchange to get +100% and get out Rozalin and Mao for +40% more damage, make everyone chain-hit while trying not to kill the dude.

Dimensional Devastation
Conquer the Carnage Dimension. (Defeat Carnage Dark) "This is the ultimate power!"

To unlock the battle with Carnage Dark, you need to complete a chain of quests given to you by Gorion after you unlock the Carnage Dimension.

There is one quest for each chapter, the stage will appear as Carnage Stage once you grab the quest, so that's around 15 or 16 quests in total.

Carnage Dark is super tough, having around 50M stats all around with lots of evilities and skills that make him very hard to take down.

I was able to kill him with around 40M in my main stat INT and with lots of powerups.
I used succubus and Chimeras to get his stats down, used Celestial hosts to up my own damage.
Plenair,Mao and Rozalin also help give you extra damage.

Being in a full Squad like Foot Squad will give you an extra boost, having several of those members equipped with "Bodyguards" Evility will also help.

Cast Braveheart or Magic Boost on yourself to upgrade your damage too, lasts 2 rounds, you can make a squaddie cast it then move your main char into him so he lifts you up and you can evade 1 attack this way.

Remember to have your cool crit curry boost too.

You might want to pass a Bill in the Dark Assembly to let you dispatch 20 members, Zetta's overload will give you 5 more and if you combo with Petta's, thats 30 members.

Have your awesome weapon ready, beware of the boss's counters.

The reward for beating this dude's is an extra unique evility slot and the achievement :)

Best way to build bonus meter imo is comet disaster or any full map attack. with curry and 13+ enemies you will always get 9 bonus 1 turn. get 5 units with revenge booster weapons and izuna overload, cycle them out for each map for full revenge and 9 bonus one each map. use fillers for maps with less enemies
