The Dreadful Whispers All Achievements Guide

In this guide, I'll tell you how to get all the achievements in this beautiful game. Keep in mind that this guide might contain spoilers for the game's story, as well as locations of collectibles/secrets. Without further ado, let's get into the guide!

Basic information

Noa did a great job with the descriptions of the achievements for this game as most of them don't require that much explanation. Still, this guide will help with those that do need an explanation, as well as tips and visuals to aid you on getting them all.

Many of the achievements (particularly the one's in the Collectibles & Secrets segment) will need visual guidance, as this game has many branching paths and skippable rooms/sections. For this reason, I've created a map of the game with all secrets and Thoughts marked that can be found below.

Now, let's get into the achievements.

Story-related

You'll get these achievements while playing through the game after reaching specific moments in the story. Pretty straightforward.

The Fall

Fall.

You get this one after you finish the initial "cutscene" and reach the main menu.

The Torch

Find the Torch.

Find the torch and use it against the dark beast.

The Cave

Find the Cave.

Hide inside the cave, away from the monster in the mountain.

Overcome Fear

Finish the game by overcoming fear.

Reach the good ending. Make sure to always answer "NO" to all questions the game asks you near the end.

Regret

Finish the game crippled with regret.

Reach the bad ending. To stay on this path always answer "YES" to all questions the game asks you.

Challenges

Destroy them all

Obliterate every dark head.

Nearing the end of the game, there are two rooms where you control the character with your mouse, and there are suns that hurt you and black heads that can be destroyed. You need to destroy all of them. Particularly in the second room, take the chasing suns on laps around the map to distance yourself from them and be able to destroy all the black heads safely.










For the next two achievements, make sure to never save and quit to the main menu, or Tab out of the game, as doing any of those will disqualify you from getting them in your current run.

Speed

Finish the game in under 45 minutes in one sitting. (starting from the first level after the main menu)

The description says it all. I strongly recommend checking the map guide to get the best path through the game (particularly in Chapter 3-2, where you can skip a section with 14 rooms via a secret path).

Strong

Finish the game without dying more than 10 times.

Take your time through the levels with this one. Be extra sure you know the levels and how to beat them to avoid stupid deaths throughout the game, but don't immediately reset if you die (since the achievement has a very generous 10 death limit). I strongly advise to skip as many rooms as possible (like the skip I described in the previous achievement).

Thoughts & Secrets

Collect all thoughts.

Secrets

You've found every secret. Right?

Posting a bunch of screenshots of levels would not be efficient in this case, as I would also need to describe how to get to all of the rooms and all the branching paths. So instead, for both of these achievements, take a look at the map guide I've also made. In there, you'll find all 31 Thoughts, as well as all of the secrets in the game.

Be aware that there are a total of 33 levels with Thoughts. This is because there are two pairs of Thoughts that correspond to the same one in the collection page on the menu, so you only need to collect one of each to get them all.

Miscellaneous

NO

No, you are not weak. You are great.

Nearing the end of the game, dying will take you to a screen where the game tells you that you are weak and not ready to take on the monster atop the mountain. Show the game how wrong it is by asserting your dominance and answering "NO" to those questions.

Zen

Take time to relax.

You'll eventually reach the following room while going through the game.

Take the top exit, then the hidden exit on the next room.

You'll then have to wait 30 seconds on the next room. After you are taken to yet another room, wait 30 more seconds to be taken to the Zen room.

Fan Art

Look at every single fan art piece.

There is a very sweet place in the Extras menu where you can check art of the game made by fans. Look at all of them to get this achievement.

Experiece

Experience the entire game.

To get this one, you'll need to have been to all Secret rooms/paths. After you've done that, click the Thought-shaped symbol on the main menu.
