1-1. Read this First

YDKJ 5th Dementia will Only run on older Windows 32-Bit Computers such as 95/98, so you'll need an Old Computer to play this game or use a Virtual Machine that has 95/98 Installed. This game is NOT compatable with Windows XP or higher.

Second, the FlipSide.com Servers for this game's Network Version are no longer active & therefore the Network Mode for this game will not run. So if you try to do a Network Game, exit out then Restart the game.

1-2. Running the YDKJ 5th Dementia on Modern Systems

Some users of YDKJ 5th Dementia are apparently having trouble with DirectShow/DirectX or some other kind of Direct thingy. Ed came up with a little application that apparently fixes this problem. If you get an error that reads something like "Unable to use a DirectShow," then you might want to check out the following.

The following zipped application is a startup app that skips the DirectShow check. To use this file, do the following:
1. Download the file "5dstart.zip"
2. Locate the install directory (should be something like "C:\Sierra\YDKJ5")
3. Replace the "YDKJ5.exe" file with the unzipped file.
4. Double-click on "YDKJ5.exe" to start the game.

Hopefully this will fix any DirectShow conflict.

Known Issues:
1. Some of the audio clips (mostly around Schmitty) has parts in it, which will get cut-off and jumps into the next clip.

2. Some of the music clips in the 4-choice question has parts in it, which also gets cut-off and jumps into the next clip, which shortens the timer.

However, the Question types for the Gibberish Question, Anagram Question, Dis or Dat, Bug Out and Jack Attack does not have these problems, as the audio clips runs without getting cut-off.
