This guide has been colour-coded as follows:

Ikk is a water droplet and best (only?) friend of Sally, an endeared Whale. As this game is very artistic, it can be interpreted in different ways. To me, you as Ikk are inside her, understanding what he witnesses within her as he is able. That perspective would suggest that the little living tubes that swallow you up and spit you out are Entry and Exit Bowels inside her, moving you around her body.

Further supporting this idea are the fact that Ikk sees Sally in different colours and shapes and sizes plus the blood red Shooty World Boss you evade just prior to a weakened and sick Sally disappearing until her skeleton shows up in Death World.

There are 3 colour schemes used in this game: normal, COMBO GOD, and Combo infinity. All are depicted in this guide's images to get you acquainted and comfortable with them.

The word "DEATH" is used 6 in different contexts throughout this guide. To keep you from being confused, here they are explained below:

A) "DEATH" as in your character dying, as in game over.

B) "DEATH" as in the furry, fluffy character you meet when the game begins. You will run into them several times, either to choose and change gear or else as a plot point during story progression.

C) "DEATH" as in the Death Tree, adorned (eventually) with almost every Skull that can be used in the game. As you acquire new ones, they will always appear on this tree and be available to you (Death Skull and Skull Pets being exceptions). When you "Visit Death" from your game menu, you will spawn right next to it.

D) "DEATH" as in Death Challenge, a Secret Area involving several maps found over and to the right of where the Death Tree is located.

E) "DEATH" as in Death Skull, the game's last one found after defeating "???" at the end of Death World.

F) "DEATH" as in Death World, the game's last set of maps ending in one final boss battle.

Since the BLÜEBERRY Edition update, there are 5 Worlds to play through:

#1. Cave World. These maps are a good introduction to the game and practice for basic gameplay concepts. There are a couple of Secret Areas and Skulls, with no possibility of fall damage. You will meet your first Merchant and Boss just before making your first return visit to Sally.

#2. Sky World. These maps first became available with the BLÜEBERRY Edition update, after I had already played and beat the game. Here you will find some unique enemies and the Chopper Skull just as you first drop down from an Exit Bowel. There is no Boss at the end of this World and no visit to Sally; instead, you will be rewarded with one visit to the Heart & Ammo Tree, giving you a chance to heal and stock up before moving on.

#3. Robot World. Here begins the phenomenon of large enemy clusters and an increasing need to be strategic in your movement and attack patterns. One-Eye can -sometimes- be found on the second map, always very high up with Bubbles leading the way early on. You can reach it with the Scythe + Sharkfin + Brick Skull combo by jumping efficiently. Using the Puppy Skull + Ball backpack combo works too. Just prior to another Sally visit, you will face this World's Boss, Gureddo.

#4. Shooty World. This is what we in the gaming world call "a mixed bag". While the levels are all mostly drop-down navigated and will sometimes be sparsely populated, there are no less than 2 well-hidden Skulls to be found and the real chance of quite a few present enemies being tightly packed together. Many will either shoot at you or have fast movements, and so this World more than any other requires patience and planning. If you're getting tired and don't want to start over, take it slow and enjoy long breaks instead of getting fed up. There is a Boss of sorts throughout the last map here, which I equate with Sally bleeding internally.

#5. Death World. The final series of maps bringing you to the game's end. Two pieces of advice playing through this: don't be distracted, and keep your rhythm. If using the Scythe, try to stay grounded but not staying in place, which will damage you. The Sharkfin is very useful here to carry you through enemies and move quickly while avoiding damage and running out of Ammo.

Often times, you can quickly reach Entry Bowels bringing you to the next map while barely making contact with enemies. When facing the final Boss, "???", be very careful not to corner yourself looking for Hearts. Stay on top of enemies surrounding you and use every chance you have to attack "???" and defeat them, ending the map in so doing. You will also find Sally in skeletal form at the last map's bottom-right.
2. Trading Cards & Badges

There are a total of 6 trading cards available in Standard and Foil:

Artwork associated with each card as follows, in order:

CHICKENLEGS, DEATH

"MERCHANT", FLIES

SALLY, "???"
3a. Skulls I of II

Note ahead of time that, Death Skull excepted, every Skull including Skull Pets can be purchased from Merchants. Whether you've already found or acquired them are irrelevant; they will show up at random in Shops, with their cost changing most of all based on game progression. Sometimes, new Skulls will show up where others have already been acquired throughout the game.

#1. Simple Skull

This will be the first Skull you find in the game. It gives you 5 Hearts and not much else - worth it if your only gripe is not being able to take more hits.

#2. Brick Skull

Best Skull in the entire game. Where every other one will let you literally fall apart every time you take a hit, the Brick will keep you intact taking anything but a fatal one. If anything, my issue is that it gives only 3 Hearts. Found in Cave World.

#3. Chopper Skull

This Skull is new since the BLÜEBERRY Edition update, and is found at the very beginning of Sky World as you are spat out by an Exit Bowel. It has 2 Hearts and chops open and closed like a toothy pair of scissors every time you jump, damaging enemies that touch its top portion.

#4. Insect Skull

Also known as the "Glider", this one lets you glide (or sometimes float, really) through the air. It can be desirable for some seeking achievement #19: The floor is lava or others trying to glide through maps and avoid too much social interaction. It gives 3 Hearts and is found in a Secret Area in Cave World.

Destroy every enemy for the first 3 maps and enter the Entry Bowel that springs up from beneath the map to reach it. Once there, you have to reach the opposite end of that Area on the top-right. That wide-open space is full of enemies and features an Entry Bowel that follows you very closely at that map's base, ready to swallow you up if it can. In this GIF above, you can see it's the Pyro Skull instead because I've been there, done that.

#5. Puppy Skull

I can see why someone might relate this one to a Teddy Bear. To me, its floppy ears (if you can see it that way, it's almost like cloud-watching) and cute little jumps make me think it's a Puppy instead. This Skull is one of the most popular choices, giving 4 Hearts and being ideal for many attempting achievement #19. The Floor is lava.

Beyond that, it's needed to reach Fart World and combines well with the Ball backpack. For those not into the Brick Skull, it can also combine nicely with the Scythe and Scythe + Sharkfin combo. After Brick and Death, this Skull is my favourite. Found in Robot World.

#6. Gun Skull

This one's... different. The Gun Skull gives a single Heart and shoots in whatever direction you're aiming by pressing the use button or key on your gamepad/keyboard. It's interesting, it's unique, but I just don't see those extra cranial bullets being worth the trade-off in health. If you were to master your timing and maneuver effectively as an expert, it could be worthwhile, but would also be a challenge. If I were to use this, I'd pair it with the Scythe + Sharkfin combo. Found in Shooty World.

#7. Pyro Skull

This offers 2 Hearts and explosive immunity while making enemies you jump on blow up at the point of final impact. Using this with the Lil' Chicky backpack is a solid combination. Found in Death World.

3b. Skulls II of II

#8. Fart Skull

This is the only Skull that offers no starting health at all. Found at the very beginning of Fart World, where it must be equipped to continue playing there. It's only ability is to keep you in Fart World itself, and combines decently with the Ankh backpack seeing as only one hit otherwise will be game over. See achievement #4. Hahaha for more information.

I've beaten the game that way before, using the Scythe + Sharkfin combo. It's tough, but not so bad if you can handle all the Ghosts that constantly pop up all around you as you travel.

#9. One-Eye

One-Eye reduces recharge times for your backpacks. Offering 3 Hearts, it's what I would call a midline Skull; not my top choice, but certainly not my least, being a useful and very decent pick that helps you take better advantage of special abilities.

Can be found sometimes near the 2nd map's beginning in Robot World. When present, you will notice Bubbles high-up leading you to it. The odd time, there will be some extra platforms to help you get there instead. You can reach it either way using the Brick Skull + Scythe + Sharkfin combo, but will have to make effective use of your jumps off of enemy heads to reach your goal.

Otherwise, you can make use of the Puppy Skull and pair it with the Ball backpack to give you an extra height boost. I truly wish I had recorded the pristinely timed series of jumps and attacks used to get me there. It was très John Wick.

#10. Bunny Skull

You will notice this Death Tree image being the only one holding the Bunny Skull. This is because it took me a while to remember how to obtain it. As it was nowhere to be found in any other guide, I had gone inch-by-inch and level-by-level until having first found it in a Secret Area on the ??? map of Shooty World.

All I can remember for sure is that I had found it somewhere in Shooty World. I don't recall whether it was my having wiped out all enemies and going into another Entry Bowel that popped up or finding another place similar to the Pancake Skull's location. If anyone knows where to find this Skull, please do let me know so I can add it here.

P.S: I -think- it might be found on the very first level of Shooty World, depending on what map config the game chooses for your playthrough. I seem to vaguely recollect it being on the left-hand side, in a corner as you drop down that's very easy to miss - even more well hidden than the Pancake Skull.

#11. Pancake Skull

An interesting option, the Pancake is more heavy than other Skulls, making you fall faster and deal up to double damage to each enemy per jump (1 hit instead of 2, 2 instead of 3, 2 instead of 4, 3 instead of 5). It offers 4 Hearts, and is found in a Secret Area on the 4th map of Shooty World. Be prepared to encounter heavy resistance the first time you reach it.

#12. Skull Pets

Skull Pets are acquired as follows:

A) Through sustained attack combos. A combo of 50 will earn you one with a grey aura, and 100 will get you a gold one.

B) Through Merchants. Every time you die and continue, you will end up seeing one. A single Glyph spent will get you a Pet.

C) Through spending Glyphs in Merchant Shops in general. Outside the above scenario, it will cost a random number of Glyphs to make Skull Pets appear. Often enough, they won't show up at all.

There is actually a 3rd Pet (with a blue aura, I believe) that I've only ever found this way. It's very rare and shoots in the same direction you attack, its little shooting balls looking just like a mini-version of what turrets in Robot World fire. It's neat, but I find it distracting, probably because I've never had it long enough to get used to.

When you die, Ankh intervention excepted, you lose your Pet. The blue Pet has been covered - the grey will help you by grabbing gear you've lost through taking hits. The gold (my preferred choice) will do that and also grab both Hearts and currency for you, letting you focus more on enemies and less on detours.

Weapons for Skull Pets

The golden Skull Pet will carry a weapon for you, firing or swinging it every time you do yours. The weapon can be swapped, and you will not be harmed by fire or splash damage. When you take damage, your Pet will drop what they are carrying. They can pick that weapon up again if close enough to it as you recover.

Hold down the fire key/button to use their infinite ammo. Be warned they will not always turn when you do, especially near or against walls. A golden exclamation mark will point out when your Pet drops something.

Thank you to lilsquids for this information and source material.

#13. Death Skull

At the game's end, the final boss is defeated and leaves behind a very large Skull. Once you touch it, you will wear it and become Death. I have read in a comment on a Wiki page that there is supposed to be some sort of invisible option under the game's Credits or Credits menu option; it's supposed to let you use the Death Skull normally in-game. I don't know if there's any merit in that, but if there is and someone can elaborate, please do post it in a comment!
4. Items

#1. Glyphs

Glyphs are the game's only currency. They are used to pay for extra lives and buy wares from Merchants, who will be found between Worlds and immediately following payment to continue your game after a death. Glyphs you own will always be shown at the top left of your screen, up to a maximum of 24.

Some Secret Areas and Merchant Stores will have them floating in place, waiting to be collected. Any other currency you find will be the result of your attack combos; they will appear from downed enemies, either jiggling around a bit before dropping or tumbling to the ground straight away. While their lightest colour may change with high combos, their markings will always remain black.

Achievements #8. What is that? and #17. GLYPHS involve collecting them.

#2. Hearts

Hearts represent your character's health with each Skull affording you a different amount. Once your health (Heart count) reaches nil, one more hit will kill you. They are normally white-ish in appearance, though approaching and reaching the COMBO GOD state might change that somewhat. Hearts can be found in four ways:

A) Heart Capsules scattered randomly throughout game maps. Jumping on one will give you a single Heart before dying and turning dark.

B) Sally. Each time you return to Sally and approach her (while she's still alive), your health will be replenished. Eventually, she will will no longer be available to help you; calculate your visits to her and use them wisely!

C) The Heart & Ammo Tree. There is a tree partway through the game filled with Ammo and Hearts. Take as many as you need, and know it will only happen once per playthrough.

D) Merchants. Any Merchant can sell you one Heart at a time. Use your Glyphs as needed to pay for item rotations and purchases. Collecting currency when possible is a very good idea for just such occasions.

#3. Heart Capsules

Heart Capsules are living containers that hold one Heart each, dying and darkening after being jumped on. While normally easy to spot in their soft blue colour, high combos can change your colour scheme and make them easier to miss. Try focusing more on their unique shape than their shade. If your Hearts are full, try jumping over or away from them, making mental notes of where you can backtrack for health if needed.

#4. Ammo

Ammo for your weapons is acquired in one of five ways:

A) Using the Ammo Backpack which produces one Ammo power-up at a time. Collecting one will give you a full reload for any weapon.

B) Through attack combos; where the Scythe rarely produces these drops, other weapons in action will tend to provoke many more.

C) In any Merchant Shop. If not available for purchase at first, the Merchant can be paid to replace his sale items. So long as you have enough Glyphs, a power-up will be available for purchase.

D) At the Ammo & Heart Tree partway through the game. Instead of visiting Sally at the end of Sky World, you will be brought instead to a tree teeming with free power-ups.

E) Sally. When visiting her, get as close as you can; she will replenish your hearts and Ammo while also increasing your Ammo capacity if you are at full health.

#5. Bubbles

Bubbles appear sporadically throughout the game. Whether needed to reach certain areas or avoided to keep your rhythm, they add a layer of complexity. You will need them to acquire One-Eye and unlock #10. No really, game over!.
5. Weapons

As far as this gamer is concerned, your first order of business is obtaining the Scythe, Sharkfin backpack, and Brick Skull. I've read many people's comments saying how hard this game is, and I felt the same way, at first. While the Scythe has a learning curve, it made this game about 99% easier for me. My recent playthrough after over a year being absent from this title took about half an hour, and that includes having died once fighting "???" in Death World.

The Sharkfin backpack is imperative to support the Scythe, as it provides a rolling attack that makes you invulnerable to most damage for a few seconds while barreling through enemies and covering a vast distance very quickly.

The Brick Skull for me is essential because it keeps Ikk from falling apart when hit. While the Puppy Skull can give you quite a bit more distance with Sharkfin rolls, it will leave you more vulnerable.

#1. Rifle

20-round clip, lightweight, moderate range and rate of fire, low recoil, low damage, good accuracy.

#2. Blunderbuss

7-shell capacity, moderate weight, recoil, and damage, low rate of fire, decent accuracy.

#3. Laser Gun

18-round clip, heavyweight, very long range, high damage, very high rate of fire, moderate to heavy recoil, moderate to high accuracy.

#4. Lightning Gun

9-round clip, high to very high damage, variable accuracy, heavyweight, long to very long range, very slow rate of fire, light to moderate recoil. Electric rounds can arc between enemies.

#5. Rocket Launcher

9 rockets per... satchel? High damage, very low rate of fire, heavy recoil, long range, heavyweight, very good accuracy. Detonations cause splash damage.

#6. Scythe

To obtain the Scythe, you must spend all your Glyphs in a Merchant Shop. Once spent, the Scythe will appear for sale, costing one Glyph. Use whatever weapon you have to destroy 5 mushrooms in a row and obtain the currency you need, then spending it wisely. Be sure to plan out your mushrooms ahead of time, or end up wasting your chance and all your wealth in the attempt.

The Scythe's "Ammunition" is energy, going down one swirl each swing. It recharges either when you touch a wall or the ground or else by successfully attacking enemies. If you health is maxed when visiting Sally you will get an energy upgrade. Your first visit gives you two more swirls, your second another three, giving up to eight energy in total. If you die after an upgrade or miss a chance with her having less than 100% health, that top number ain't happenin'.

This is by far the best weapon in the game, being devastating when paired with the Sharkfin backpack. As mentioned above, I tend to favour the Brick Skull in combination with these two pieces, but have used every other Skull successfully in the past.

#7. Grenade Launcher

18 grenades per... satchel. Very high damage, high rate of fire, short range, heavy recoil, good accuracy, very much so heavyweight. Detonations cause heavy splash damage.

6. Backpacks

#1. Ammo Bag

The Ammo Bag or Ammo backpack will supply you with one Ammo refill power-up at a time, recharging between uses. Power-ups will function the same way for any weapon, giving you a full reload. This is useful for people going nuts firing away with projectiles, but is essentially useless for anyone wielding the Scythe. While Ammo drops are frequent for non-Scythe users, having this equipped will help keep you from getting stuck and running or jumping for your life.

#2. Sharkfin

Best backpack in the game. Combines very, very well with the Scythe and in that case helps to gain distance while protecting you from some enemy damage and even destroying bad guys in the process. With projectile weapons, it provides a small, fast burst of rounds without expending your Ammo (even if clip is empty).

#3. Ball

This is a cute backpack and essential for achievement #13. Undead. That aside, it's helpful for those who haven't mastered wall-hops or jumping off of enemy heads for travel and need a height boost toward hard-to-reach areas in the game. A common combination: Puppy Skull + Ball backpack. In that case, you have three jumps plus what amounts to a fourth much higher one before having to land and try again.

#4. Lil' Chicky

This may be the coolest backpack, but is a tricky one to use. Its special move is a ring of small explosions around Ikk. While it can be great to clear enemies up close, those detonations can still damage you and are a pain to use while in motion, especially jumping through the air. Combining this with the Pyro Skull will save you from all explosive damage and make enemies explode from your jumps on them.

#5. Godbox

Makes you invincible for about 4 seconds, with Ikk changing colours kind of like Super Mario with a Star. Time each use with care, as running out of super-juice midway through an enemy cluster is not exactly the all-bran of nutritious gaming.

#6. Ankh

Achievement #13. Undead involves turning the Ball backpack into a larger ball, bursting it, and equipping the Ankh backpack left behind. This one amounts to one extra Heart of health, one time. If you run out of Hearts while wearing this and take a fatal hit, the Ankh will sacrifice itself and save you, disappearing in the process.

Notice everything around me turn black and white with the Ankh's use. Excepting Combo infinity. mode (already monochrome) and Fart World (perpetually brown), this will always happen until you reach an Exit Bowel leading you to another map. Normally after using the Ankh, another random backpack will be put directly in your path very early somewhere in the next map.

#7. Timestopper

Freezes enemies in time for a few seconds. Recharge is fairly quick, making it very helpful in removing you from overwhelming enemy concentrations. If using this backpack, don't get cocky; waiting around or overstepping can cost you.

7. Bosses

There are a total of 4 boss battles in the game. Where Sky World has none, every other map set either precedes a boss or features them.

Cave World Boss: Wingees

This is a perfect example of how valuable a well-managed Sharkfin roll can really be. This Boss battle lasted all of about 10 seconds, leaving me with all my Hearts intact and ready for my following visit to Sally. Immediately afterward, I had approached her and received an Ammo upgrade in exchange for my perfect health.

If you aren't using this combo or can't quite pull that move off, then beware the large Wingees that will swoop down to attack you every few seconds each, giving birth to new enemies in between. If using the Scythe, it's enough to stay grounded and keep swinging in their direction; they won't be able to hit you, and your constant attacks will not leave them any openings before they are destroyed.

Once all Wingees are dealt with, all or almost all other enemies will disappear along with them. Be careful not to get killed before reaching the Exit Bowel; you having beat them doesn't mean one hit too many from anything left over won't make you restart or spend Glyphs and have to face them again.

Robot World Boss: Gureddo

Here is the Robot World Boss battle in its entirety. At the beginning, notice how I spent time dodging bullets and attacking propelled enemies. That's fine, but the direct approach here is always best. With the Puppy Skull + Scythe + Sharkfin combo, you can get close to those turrets and use your Sharkfin roll on them, but it's not necessary.

Gureddo must be hit 2-3 times on top and on both sides to be subdued. Where here you see one roll attack takes care of two thirds of it plus a couple turrets, I promise you that a single, well-placed Sharkfin roll with the Scythe will take that Boss right out. Be cautious when this Boss begins to explode, as those detonations can still damage you.

If you die as a result (or by falling off either edge of the map), you'll have to restart or spend Glyphs and face this Boss again, even though they were beaten. As an aside, pay close attention to Gureddo; when you're close and especially after you give a hit, they'll tend to spawn some enemies that can get the drop on you if you're not careful.

Shooty World Boss: Ravage

Here you can see the majority of Shooty World's final map, the entirety of which is running away from Ravage. You can attack and repel those shoots, but only to get them directly off your back and keep moving. If using the Scythe + Sharkfin combo, use your rolling attack as often as possible to gain distance and break through enemy clusters that would slow you down.

This run has been slowed somewhat so that you can get a better look at the Boss and how the map should be navigated. Don't commit too much to leaning right or left when you drop; stay as close to center as possible, not spending time on enemies that outside your direct path. Once you hit the map's base, you will always want to head right toward the only Exit Bowel.

Death World Boss: "???"

As with Ravage, this Boss battle takes up a map's entirety. During the whole final map of Death World, you will be facing "???". It's the hardest battle in the game, so watch carefully and spot all the mistakes I'm making >.> Also, you can see Sally in skeletal form right at the beginning. Achievement #9. lovelovelove requires you to find her just like that.

First, you can tell I'm at the end of a playthrough and getting impatient. At least half my movements are sloppy and kind of laissez-faire. Next, I'm not paying close enough attention to the Boss and their own movements, allowing myself to lose health over it. Third, I'm committing way too much to attacking "???" with most Sharkfin rolls. The most you should ever commit in that position is about 80% of the attack, the rest of which should be spent distancing yourself. If you try to go all the way, you will almost always end up losing health.

Finally, I'm lacking a little bit in fending off enemy Boss clouds. You might think I'm being hard on myself, but I had gotten to a point before of never or almost never being touched when facing this last Boss. It's all about timing and logic - predicting their movements and being on-the-ball with your reflexes. I did win here after spending some Glyphs for a continue, but was lucky to have had all those Heart Capsules (the ones you can't see here) supporting me.

P.S: If you K.O. "???" and die at just the right moment, you will still win and reach the very end of the game. It's not something to shoot for, but to be aware of in case it happens and you think you should just quit or restart. If that happens, wait and see if you're lucky enough to make it without having to try again. You can see in a couple of pictures in this guide where I'm just a water droplet with no gear standing next to the Death Skull.

[:] Achievements #1 - #5

#1. Combo bomb

Achieve a combo of 15. Any hit will count, even if enemies don't die. Pay attention to the combo meter at the top right of your screen, not allowing it to disappear.

#2. Get off my lawn!

After defeating Gureddo, push their corpse off either edge of the map. Be careful to avoid the Entry Bowel if pushing to the right, or be swallowed up before your task is complete. No matter what direction, make sure you don't stay on top of that cadaver or you might get stuck on it and fall to your death.

#3. Good job.

Beat Cave World. You do not have to defeat the Wingees for this to unlock.

#4. Hahaha

Enter Fart World. This requires the Puppy Skull. When returning to Sally, triple jump up her head to gain footing. You have to get over top and behind her, where you will see some Bowels floating about.

Hop into the Entry Bowel you see below to reach both Fart World and the Fart Skull. You can then choose to continue your playthrough in well-digested brown fashion or turn around and go back out the way you came. Choosing the latter option will bring you to the first map of Sky World.

P.S: Fart World is full of Ghosts ~ the Scythe is recommended.

#5. High five

Achieve a combo of 5. Just shoot or hit or jump on five enemies in a row, not allowing your combo meter to disappear before reaching your goal.
[:] Achievements #6 - #10

#6. Impressive.

Beat Robot World. This does not include its Boss, Gureddo.

#7. Roguelikelikelike

Spend enough Glyphs to continue playing after your death. Once you die, you will either:

A) Have enough Glyphs to satisfy the amount needed for you to continue, or

B) Will not, and will have to start the entire game over.

The further you progress, the more expensive it will be. Do this quickly by amassing 6+ Glyphs across Cave World maps and then allowing yourself to be killed.

If you should forget to do this as you play, don't worry about it - there will likely be other opportunities...

#8. What is that?

Pick up a Glyph. Glyphs are the game's currency, sometimes sitting for you to find in a map or else being produced by your attack combos. They are easy to spot, being bright purple and tending to either shift in place or eventually drop through the air if originating from a slain enemy.

If at COMBO GOD or Combo infinity. levels, you can still pick them out by their square shape and ever-changing black markings.

#9. lovelovelove

Discover Sally's skeleton in the last Death World map. While fighting "???", make your way to the bottom right-hand corner of the map. Once you have done this the first time, Sally will appear in skeletal form where you visit Death and choose your loadout. You can attack her if you want, she'll just poof away like your enemies.

To find her, make your way up to the map's ceiling, above the Death Tree just to its right. She will be floating up there just next to a platform that leads you to Death's Challenge. After witnessing her appear as such a first time, she will appear just outside the boundaries of that map and try to follow you, albeit still in small but much healthier and happier-looking form.

#10. No really, game over!

After defeating the game's final boss, "???", use the bubbles rising near it to jump over toward their right side, being extra careful not to touch its giant head lest the game end prematurely. Once there, simply walk off-screen.
[:] Achievements #11 - #15

#11. Smooth!

Beat Shooty World. This includes its corresponding Boss, Ravage, whom you will be fleeing throughout this World's final map.

#12. Stare into the abyss

Beat the game. This will unlock once you defeat "???" and wear its leftover Skull as your own. Upon vanquishing this game's final Boss, you will see it laying next to a tree with bubbles floating from the ground on either side.

#13. Undead

Acquire the Ankh backpack. Equip the Ball backpack and approach Sally when the game leads you to visit her. Attempt to use the Ball and it will separate from you, enlarge, and change colour. Play with Sally by bouncing it off of her 10 times, not letting it touch the ground. It will at this point pop on contact with the earth, leaving behind the Ankh.

P.S: The Ankh will give you one more chance when hit fatally. When your heart count drops to 0 and you get hit again, it will resurrect you once and disappear.

#14. Woah!

Beat Death World. This does include its Boss, ???, who must be vanquished to reach the game's end.

#15. COMBO GOD

Achieve a combo of 50. The Scythe + Sharkfin + Brick Skull combo is highly recommended, as it will:

A) Prevent you from falling apart from anything but a fatal hit

B) Provide you with the Sharkfin's special attack (which, Scythe in-hand, acts as an excellent combo builder)

C) Provide you with a weapon that recharges with each connecting attack and upon landing against any non-damaging surface. The slightest contact, even sliding down walls will count.

Again, be mindful of your top right-hand combo meter, not allowing it to disappear even once. When using Sharkfin + Scythe, try to keep track of the former's recharge time; don't be afraid to jump while using it so you can avoid ruts and maximize your combo.

The further your combo matures, the more your game environment will start to bubble and warp, slowly changing colours. Once you reach 50, game elements will permanently change into a very different, more colourful scheme (permanent so long as you don't die or else reach Combo infinity. level, where everything turns black and white).
[:] Achievements #16 - #19

#16. Combo infinity.

Reach a combo of 100. As you near this achievement, your already very colourful environment will begin to shift in place again. Once you reach your hundred, everything will turn black and white, staying that way under so long as you don't die, quit your game, or choose to restart it.

Upon your next visit to Sally (if there is one), you will also be rewarded with a golden aura, Glyph-and-Heart-retrieving Skull Pet.

P.S: You can hit Merchants to continue your combo, but I don't like doing that ~ they're nice salespeople.

#17. GLYPHS

Reach the Glyph cap of 24. Once you reach it, you can still pick up currency - it just won't count.

#18. I can take care of myself.

Beat the game without dying. I know this can seem unattainable, but it isn't. Once I mastered the Scythe+Sharkfin+Brick Skull combo, this became almost a breeze. When I was in practice about a year ago, I had even gotten through without taking a single hit.

It's important to be comfortable with your controls, with response times and also map layouts. You'll find there are a few different map configs that alternate at random, some being much easier than others to navigate. Learning how to avoid enemies and speed through levels is also imperative, as it will reduce your chances of getting stuck or making costly mistakes.

One more piece of advice: turn off your sound. The soundtrack is lovely and fluffy, but boy did it make a difference for me when it came to concentration and success.

#19. The floor is lava

Hardest achievement in the game. Others have written it up as being easy, but it's challenging for me to the point where I'll just show you a couple of failed attempts and give you some pointers.

Study this example. While it was a good idea to get on top of a cluster of enemies and control my jumps, the surrounding area was compact and I failed to appreciate that there was too little room for error. Do your best to make sure that every attempt is made in a more wide open environment with large enemy grouping(s).

Using another Skull with more jumps or Hearts can be beneficial, if you feel you can deal with the reduced stability that comes from taking hits. Combining the Puppy Skull and Ball backpack is a common solution, but I could just never get used to them. Arguably, the least desirable Skull to use is the Pancake; it has not only more weight to it, but also destroys enemies up to twice as quickly (1 hit instead of 2, 2 instead of 3, 2 instead of 4).

Again, notice the poor choice of setup and also the impatience that comes from many, many tries. Instead of cutting my losses and moving on, I keep trying despite the more obvious hits I'm taking and the lack of a viable sustained combo. If you're getting fed up, take a break.

The sweet spot for me was the third map of Cave World, in a certain configuration featuring one very large, open area with the largest cluster of enemies in any map within that series. I had just kept restarting until I got the scenario I wanted and had at it, eventually succeeding. Don't be afraid to try different maps, and practice. Whatever gear you choose will take getting used to; you will learn timing, move distance, and patience.

Most often I've read from others that they prefer the Insect Skull Secret Area in Cave World for this task. To reach it, you must destroy every single enemy throughout the first 3 maps. From there, an Entry Bowel will appear from beneath the level, typically near wherever your last enemy was slain. Hop in and you'll get to a nice large space with Glyphs, lots of floating enemies, and an Entry Bowel below bent on following and swallowing you.

If you take the puppy skull, rocket launcher, and shark fin, you can use the shark fin while sideways in midair and go much further than with scythe+shark fin
