Golden Potato achievement made easy (solo) [CURRENTLY INACTIVE]

A simple guide explaining how to get the Golden Potato achievement without the help of anyone else.

Requirements

First and foremost be sure that the potato achievements are active (they were as of the Hillbilly 2013 event and will probably appear again around the same time 2014). Start a short game on beginner difficulty on KF-Aperture. It's best to use a level 6 support specialist, due to the faster unwelding of the door, however you are free to use anything you want the only difference will be the time it takes you to open the door for the achievement.

Preparation

In the first wave kill all the ZEDs, but a clot. Get to the door in GLaDOS room.

Execution

Once you are down to a 1v1 match with a Clot, make sure he is following you and JUMP over the gap between the platforms.


If you fail to do it, go down the stairs then climb back up from the other side and attempt the jump again. In the end you have something like this:


The Clot will be stuck behind the ledge and you will be able to unweld the door without being disturbed, or you disturbing any of your friends to do it. As a level 6 support specialist it took me roughly 15-20 minutes to unweld it, so grab a snack and drop your wallet or anything that can keep your unweld button pushed down and wait. Alternatively and easier: you hold down the unweld button and bring up the steam overlay (shift+tab) while still holding alt fire the action will continue without you having to press a single button. This also works for anything that chains together without a reload, like a melee attack. (Credits to Hungry PolarBear)

When you unweld the door you will face the golden potato. I got the achievement as I entered the room, but I've read that some people needed to push E in order to get it. Don't forget to brag once you get it and they disable it for another year or two.

I got into the room, have pictures, standing right by the thing- I assume I can't pick it up, but when I entered the room (on last wave when I got it open, and on patriarch wave), it didn't award!

Thank you for the guide. Couldnt get the clot to be stucked though..
I tried using bloat. It got stuck somewhere else and i managed to unwield the door.
Otherwise, kite the zed, unwield until 0 then kite a few seconds and unwield the door again. Repeat

The easiest way is to choose berserker (any perk). So get in front of this door and leave 1 clot to attack you (do this on begginer difficulty because clot wont deal you a damage). So u can watch TV or go outside this will take 1 h
