✔ Artificial Biomes Guide (Working 2020)

A guide on how to make artificial biomes in Terraria, all on the surface world.


If for whatever reason the Terraria Wiki does not work and you do not trust it for whatever reason, this Steam guide I made should give you an idea of what you need to make these biomes. Not all biomes are on here, however. I made this for myself mainly, but feel free to use it too, as it is public. The information comes from the Terraria Wiki directly.

UPDATE 1/10/2020: More content to the guide has been added. Wording has been fixed to sound more appropriate, and Deserts are now separate and no longer paired with certain biomes which was creating confusion.

Overworld Forest

Unfortunately there was no information I could find relating to this particular biome. Assuming that both the Forest & Hallow biomes are the same, you will need at least 200 Dirt Blocks with Grass seeds to make this biome. This is possibly due to the fact that both Hallow & Forest have something in common: neither biomes have "evil" enemies during the daytime.

Overworld Jungle

You will need at least 80 Mud Blocks with Jungle Grass seeds to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change after all the grass has spreaded.

Overworld Desert

You will need at least 1,001 Sand Blocks to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change.

Overworld Snow

You will need at least 300 Snow Blocks, Snow Bricks, and or Ice Blocks to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change.

Overworld Corruption

You will need at least 200 Dirt Blocks with Corruption Grass seeds to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change after all the grass has spreaded.

Overworld Corruption Desert

You will need at least 1,001 Ebonsand Blocks to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change.

Overworld Corruption Snow

You will need at least 300 Snow Blocks, Snow Bricks, and or Ice Blocks to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change. While there technically is no real way to create an artificial Corruption Snow biome, an existing biome of this type will need to spread to a Snow biome in order for this to happen.

Overworld Crimson

You will need at least 200 Dirt Blocks with Crimson Grass seeds to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change after all the grass has spreaded.

Overworld Crimson Desert

You will need at least 1,001 Crimsand Blocks to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change.

Overworld Crimson Snow

You will need at least 300 Snow Blocks, Snow Bricks, and or Ice Blocks to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change. While there technically is no real way to create an artificial Crimson Snow biome, an existing biome of this type will need to spread to a Snow biome in order for this to happen.

Overworld Hallow

You will need at least 200 Dirt Blocks with Hallowed Grass seeds to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change after all the grass has spreaded.

Overworld Hallowed Desert

You will need at least 1,001 Pearlsand Blocks to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change.

Overworld Hallowed Snow

You will need at least 200 Pink Ice Blocks to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change.

Overworld Meteorite

You will need at least 50 Meteorite Ore to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change and Meteor Heads will begin spawning.

Overworld Mushroom

You will need at least 100 Mud Blocks with Mushroom Grass seeds to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change after all the grass has spreaded.

Overworld Dungeon

You will need at least 250 colored Dungeon Bricks and or Dungeon Walls to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change. However, Dungeon Walls must be natural and cannot be made with the ones that a player crafts.



Side note: I have never actually tried to make this myself, so I don't know if this is still possible or has ever been possible.

Overworld Lihzarhd

You will need at least 80 Lihzarhd Bricks and Lihzahrd Walls to make this biome. The music and background should automatically change with Flying Snakes and Lihzahrds to begin spawning.

While Underground Deserts of these biomes are not mentioned, everything I've mentioned in this guide are mostly Overworld-related, meaning on the surface.
