Terraria Cosplay

Vanity/Social Slot combos to play as your favorite anime or videogame character!
Contains some spoilers and cross-references

Introduction

There are a few points to keep in mind in creating an in-game cosplay for Terraria:

Your character's skin, hair & eye color and gender.
-these can be accessed from the main menu. You can recycle a character, or keep multiple handy. (You can use them one-at-a-time in the same world you generated)
Collecting
-(can be a pain, or you can mod your save file) You can recycle a character, or keep multiple handy. (You can use them one-at-a-time in the same world you generated)
Crafting
-(what armor, vanity, and possibly weapon set do you want and have resources to make?)
Loot drops
-(enemies that drop vanity items; blocks that drop materials you need for crafting)
Dye
- KEEP ALL THE DYE YOU CRAFT!!! You will need it if you want to combine colors at the Dye Vat or have the same color for each piece of your outfit
-(collected from plants, mostly - use your pickaxe for most sources - and store what you're not using at the moment in a chest. You should build enough houses to get items from the Tailor (beat the Old Man's Curse and Skeletron Prime) and the Dye Trader (normal unlock NPC need the dye vat. Can buy Silver dye from her)
Storage
-I recommend you make a protected area AND room enough for chests and/or mannequins to display your favorite costumes. You don't NEED room for vanity items, but if you want, I suggest blast-proof blocks to protect your important stuff! Use post-endgame materials such as mythril if possible.

• As you may have noticed, Terraria has many, many unique and useful armor sets. While you may grow out of them as you progress in the game, you don't have to throw them out, or even sell them. Simply craft a mannequin and display your sets there, or stash them in a chest!
  
• They don't stack, but you really don't need more than one "set" of any armor, but you will need up to 3 of each dye if you test outfits often or have an outfit that requires more than one of the same color dye...
  
• If you want to display the plain armor set that you're using in combat, simply leave the social and/or dye slot empty!

For dye, you will need to own a dye vat and a variety of plants, fruit, green and teal mushrooms, beetle exoskeletons, etc. (if you haven't already modded your save file)
The dye you "attach" to your character's dye slot is not permanent, but will only color your character's "visible" layer. This means, if you have a social/vanity itme equipped, it will turn the color of the dye. If you only have an item equipped as armor to give stat boosts, it will take the dye's color.

• Thus once again, you do not need more than one armor set AND since the dye isn't permanent, at minimum, you need a minimum of 1 and max of 3 of each dye color. One dye material = one dye. If you happen to have extra, save it for future use!

Testing Tips

• Often, vanity items can be substituted, even with just slightly different item colorings, so if you have something of the same color and/or shape, you can probably use it instead of what's suggested =D
  
• Some items are best traded off for color than shape and vice versa. It's not an exact science!
  
• Some items you're using may already be the color you need, others you may need to equip the proper dye. This includes combining dyes beforehand to combine colors in a single dye slot.

• Space Creature Shirt (dyed Flame - red+orange+yellow)

  Charizard
  
• Platinum Helmet (dyed Orange or Flame whichever you find closest to the Pumpkin pants color)
  
• Space Creature Shirt (dyed Orange or Flame)
  
• Pumpkin Pants
  
• Demon or Angel wings

I made a Doomguy costume. I used a full Cobalt set with the "Ranged Mask", Orange dye for the Mask and Green dye for the Pants and shirt.

I do not control what steam does to notify you of new comments. This happens with peoples' profile pages as well.
The reason you are getting notifications is because you yourself commented on the guide on May 17. Again, this is not something I am able to control, it is a flaw in the Steam comment system
