Traits Guide (WIP)
By Itchio
The idea of this guide is to explain the trait mechanic in the game.
That means for example pointing out what makes a specific trait special, on which race it's more common and if there are some conditions to it.

Info
As this is my first guide I ever did, I'm glad for feedback and addition to the things I wrote down. Also this will stay for a long time as a WIP, because first the game is still in development and second I still have to research alot of things.

I know there isn't much in it's current state, but trust me I'm working in the background on completing this guide.
I just wanted to start writing down what material I already have.

Also since english is not my mother language I'm glad for any hints to typos and grammar errors, so we can create a guide with good quality behind it. Thanks!
1. Overview
What are traits?
Traits are basicly the buidlingbricks that make up the difference of each and every Nephelym.
Another word that also could be used is DNA.

Can you systemize the traits?
Indeed you can and that is what I'm trying to do here.
I will categorize them in 3 categories.

1. Basic Traits
Basic Traits will always be apparent and cannot be removed. Every Nephelym has those in one way or another and can only be changed to a certain extent.

2. Genetic Traits
Genetic Traits can be inherited by the offsprings through breeding. Genetic Traits can also be subcategorized into "Body Traits" and "Characteristic Traits". More on that later.

3. Special Traits
Special Traits appear only when a certain condition or a certain action has been met. Some of those traits are inheritable.

I will go through each and every trait and write down what is known of them. But I will also go through some other mechanics like:
2. Trait Level
Traits themselve do not have a level, that means there is no such thing as Busty Lv.1 and Busty Lv.2.

The Trait Level only affects the %-chance of the following things:
- The chance of wild Nephelym having a random trait.
- The chance of offsprings inheriting the traits from their parents.
Also the higher the level of the Trait Level is, the higher is the chance of wild Nephelym having multiple traits.

The Trait Level can be increased by the Emissary for Orgasium. The Orgasium price will increase for every level by 500 starting at 500. At maximum Trait Level offsprings will always inherit the Genetic Traits from their parent.
The maximum Trait Level is: (WIP)
3. Basic Traits
As mentioned before Basic Traits are always apparent and cannot be removed, only changed to a certain extent.
3.1 Size
The Size Trait describes the height of the Nephelym. Every race and variant has their own standard height that will never change for wild Nephelym that spawn in the world.

But the height can be altered by breeding two Nephelym of different variants and different heights.

To find out how big a Nephelym is, you have to hover over the Trait symbol and it will show you which size level it has. There are 6 size levels:

Tiny
Height: Roughly 4ft
Variant: Bat (Harpy), Goblin (Sylvan)

Small
Height: 5ft
Variant: Kestrel (Harpy)

Normal
Height: Roughly 6ft
Variant: Bee (Thriae), Elf (Sylvan), Sionnach (Foxen), Slime (Sylvan), Succubus (Demon), Tabby (Neko), Vulpuss (Foxen)

Large
Height: Roughly 8ft
Variant: Ayrshire (Bovaur), Bull (Bovaur), Cambion (Demon), Carrier (Starfallen), Incubus (Demon), Malakhim (Seraphim), Orc (Sylvan), Seeder (Starfallen), Shark (Formurian), Spore (Starfallen)

Huge
Height: Roughly 10ft
Variant: Drake (Dragon), Lykos (Vulwarg), Wulf (Vulwarg), Wyvern (Dragon)

Massive
Height: Roughly 15ft
Variant: Colossus (Titan)

If through breeding the standard size gets altered, the text of the trait symbol will also change and the offspring gets the "Atypical" Trait.
3.2 Homonial
Inherited more human traits.

Every Nephelym has either this Trait or the Exotic Trait.
With the Homonial Trait the Nephelyms hips, upper body and face consist mostly out of human features. In other words basicly human skin with maybe some accents like scales.

If a Homonial and an Exotic Nephelym breed, then can the offspring have either the Homonial or the Exotic Trait. Provided the offspring variant has an Exotic form, else it will get the Homnial Trait.
3.3 Exotic
Inherited more monster traits.

Every Nephelym has either this Trait or the Homonial Trait.
With the Exotic Trait the Nephelyms whole body consist mostly out of monster features. That means for example Foxen Girls with full fur body and a Fox-like face (snout nose and mouth). Or a fully scaled Dragon.

Females that can have the Exotic Trait:
- Dragon: Wyvern
- Foxen: Vulpuss
- Vulwarg: Lykos

If there is a male version in a race they will always have the Exotic Trait, because (as of yet) there are no Homonial males.
Races with a male version:
- Bovaur: Bull
- Demon: Incubus
- Dragon: Drake
- Foxen: Sionnach
- Starfallen: Seeder
- Vulwarg: Wulf

As mentioned before: If a Homonial and an Exotic Nephelym breed, then can the offspring have either the Homonial or the Exotic Trait. Provided the offspring variant has an Exotic form, else it will get the Homnial Trait.
4. Genetic Traits
Genetics Traits are all traits that can be inherited by the offsprings while breeding. There a two subcategories "Body Traits" and "Characteristic Traits".
4.1 Body Traits
Body Traits will change the outer appearance or shape of a Nephelym but will not have any other effects (with an exception).

Right now I'm still researching, but my speculation is there are Body Traits that will cancel oneanother out.
4.1.1 Busty
Inherited a larger breast size.

Nephelym with that Trait will have a noticeable larger breast size. The breasts will grow to the absolute max size. On some variants this max size is an extreme difference to the standard size range, on other variants can the upper size limit look almost as big as variants with the Trait.

In contrary to the believe "Bigger size equals bigger volume" the Nephlym with this Trait do not give more milk than Nephelym without it.

Commonly found on:
  • Bovaur: Ayrshire
4.1.2 Buxom
Inherited a very large butt.

There is nothing to add here...the butt is just at its max size, nothing more.

Commonly found on:
WIP
4.1.3 Chubby
This one has more body fat.

Nephelym with that Trait have clearly more meat on their bones. Their arms, legs, waist and the hips are far wider then the normal size.
Even Ayrshire who already have a chubby body can get even bigger with that trait.

Commonly found on:
  • Bovaur: Ayrshire, Bull

Speculation:
I still haven't started this experiment if the Chubby Trait cancels out the Meaty and the Slender Trait, but my guess is it will.
4.1.4 Hung
Inherited a larger ♥♥♥♥.

Nephelym with that trait have a larger ♥♥♥♥, but the Nephelym will not give more se-men.

Commonly found on:
WIP
4.1.5 Meaty
Strength raises the XP granted to mates when breeding as a percentage.

Nephelym with that Trait have a more muscular body. The arms and legs are more bulky and the abs become visible on most races.

This Trait makes use of the strength stat. It will use the strength value as the percentage amount to determine how much bonus XP the mate will become while breeding.
For example:
A Nephelym will get 40XP for a breeding session. If its mate has the Meaty Trait and a strength value of 20 it will become 48XP.

Commonly found on:
  • Bovaur: Bull
  • Sylvan: Orc
  • Titan: Colossus
  • Vulwarg: Lykos, Wulf

Speculation:
I still haven't started this experiment if the Meaty Trait cancels out the Chubby and the Slender Trait, but my guess is it will.
4.1.6 Slender
This one has less body fat.

Nephelym with that body trait have a much slimmer body then the normal ones. Arms, legs and the waist are noticeably thinner, also the hips aren't as wide as before.

Commonly found on:
WIP

Speculation:
I still haven't started this experiment if the Slender Trait cancels out the Meaty and the Chubby Trait, but my guess is it will.
4.1.7 Slick
Inherited slick oily skin.

Nephelym with that Trait have a more glossy skin then normal, so that it looks like they came right out of the water...all the time.
Slick itself has no other effects.

Commonly found on:
WIP
4.2 Characteristic Traits
Characteristic Traits are basicly hidden traits because you will not see any real changes to the Nephelym. The Traits can directly affect a statvalue or will make use of one. But they can also alter the rate of exp gain while breeding.
4.2.1 Charmer
Allure raises XP from breeding as a percentage.

Nephelym with that trait will get n% more XP when they are breeding. The n value is the same value as the allure stat.

Commonly found on:
WIP

This Trait does not work at the moment!
    My research:
  • I used 4 Nephelym and the breeder. 2 Bats and 2 Bees.
  • Per variant group one of them did have only the Charmer Trait and the other one didn't have any Genetic Traits at all.
  • I used "infinite lust" cheat
  • Pregnancy was turned off
First I breed every Nephelym to lvl 6, because there you could actually see the XP they get. After that I breed every Nephelym in the giver position with the breeder and compared the numbers.
The breeder and the Nephelyms always got the same amount of XP. There was no difference in XP between Nephelym with the Trait and Nephelym without.
Afterwards I changed the rolls. The Breeder was the giver and the Nephelyms were the Reciever.
But there was still no difference in XP.

Conclusion:
The Charmer Trait does not work in its current build (0.723.1 Alpha)

I'm glad if others could do some experiments on their own and confirm or negate my conclusion. Thx!
4.2.2 Debauched
Offspring have a 20% chance to ignore the Negative Effects of Inbreeding.

While inbreeding (ex. father and daughter) there is a very high chance that the offspring will get the Abomination Trait and a high chance it will get the Sterile Trait. The debauched Trait can decrease the chance by 20%.

Research done by EvilMethos666:
Originally posted by EvilMethos666:
In my Male Breeder Save: It worked as it says for the first month, then it dropped to around 4% or 6%, but seven days later it increased to around a 70% chance for offspring to ignore the Sterile Trait from Inbreeding.
As it seems the Sterile Trait is still pretty random, it defintily needs more research.

Commonly found on:
  • Demon: Cambion, Incubus, Succubus
  • Sylvan: Elf
4.2.3 Divergent
Offspring have a chance to generate a random trait upon being summoned.

The Divergent Trait is one of the most complex Trait so far. As it states there is a chance that the offspring gets a random new Trait. And as far as I have researched it can be a Body Trait and/or a Genetic Trait. There is even a chance that the Offspring will have multiply new Traits.

I haven't really researched that much, but here is what I got. (I used cheats)

Chance:
I made a batch with 20 offsprings. Out of the first 10 only the 8. and 10. offspring had a new Trait. But on the second 10 all but 11. and 19. offspring had a new Trait, one had even two new Traits. So I guess the chance of a new Trait increases with the level of the Divergent Nephelym.

I cannot give you solid numbers right now.

Trait variant:
I tested the previous 20 offsprings with an Elf Nephelym and the Breeder. And the new Traits I got were mostly Debauched (an Elf common Trait), so here is my speculation:
The new Trait has a higher chance of being a Trait that can be commonly found on the same variants in the wild as the divergent variant.

There is still more intensive research needed on this Trait.

Commonly found on:
  • Sylvan: Elf
4.2.4 Fertile
Fertility doubles pregnancy chance from repeated breeding.

If you have problems with breeding and your lust runs out before you even could impregnate a Nephelym, then this Trait can help you. As it states it will increase the chance after every breeding.

I personally haven't made any experiments yet, so I cannot say if this Trait actually works.

Commonly found on:
WIP
4.2.5 Grungy
Mates have a 20% chance to getting dirty, reducing allure by 50%.

Nephelym with that Trait are not effected by the grungy trait at all, if they have it since spawn or birth. But they can as it states affect others.
To put it simply they can infect other Nephelym with the grungy trait while breeding. Which makes this the only Genetic Trait that can also be passed over to other Nephelyms while breeding.
If it happens and the mate gets the Grungy Trait, its Allure stat gets instantly halfed.

But there is a solution to the Grungy Trait. You can let your Nephelym be cleaned (for a small fee) by Romy the Mermaid in the town. When the Nephelym gets cleaned the Grungy Trait disappears but in the current build (0.723.1 Alpha) the allure stat will not reset.

So the damage that the Grungy Trait did will remain.

Commonly found on:
  • Harpy: Kestrel
  • Thiare: Bee

Btw. the Breeder can also be affected by the Grungy Trait.
4.2.6 Hedonist
Gains the XP that would have been granted to the other mate.

Nephelym with that Trait are literally sucking the XP away. No matter the case if in the giver or the reciever position, they will always get all the XP.

Commonly found on:
  • Demon: Succubus
4.2.7 Hornball
Loses 35% less lust during breeding.

A normal breeding session needs 600 lust. Nephelym with that Trait will need only 390 lust, no matter if its in the giver or reciever position.

Commonly found on:
  • Vulwarg: Lykos, Wulf
4.2.8 Juicy
Produces 50% extra body fluids when harvested.

Nephelym with that Trait produce as it states more fluids (se-men, milk). It is also the only way to increase the amount that can be harvested, because the Buxom and Hung Trait will not increase the amount even if they increase the size.

It is worth noting out that the amount harvested also depends of the size of the Nephelym. So a titan with the Juicy Trait will give way more then a normal titan, but a Goblin with the Juicy Trait can sometimes even be outmatched by a normal Goblin.

Commonly found on:
WIP
4.2.9 Kindhearted
Grants twice as much XP to mates but only recieves half as much.

If you want to level up a Nephelym pretty fast, then having a mate with the Kindhearted Trait is the way to go. Even if the Nephelym with the Trait gets short on XP, there is overall more XP included within one breeding session.

Simple math:
  • Normal breeding session: 1 + 1 = 2
  • Kindhearted breeding session: 2 + 0.5 = 2.5

Commonly found on:
  • Seraphim: Malakhim
4.2.10 Nurturing
Offspring inherit 20% higher stats.

If one of the parents have this trait while breeding, their offspring will get a boost to the basic stats. Depending on the variant this will differ.

I'm still testing if the stats actually are increased from the offsprings.

Commonly found on:
WIP
4.2.11 Nymphomaniac
(WIP)
4.2.12 Sadistic
(WIP)
4.2.13 Stoic
Increases maximum lust by 20%.

As it states this Trait will increase the lust capacity. The other way to increase the capacity is through leveling. Every 5 level the capacity is increased by 200. Basicly:
  • Level 1-4: 1400
  • Level 5-9: 1600
  • Level 10-14: 1800
  • and so on...

Commonly found on:
WIP
4.2.14 Swift
Dexterity reduces lust cost of actions as a percentage.

Nephelym with that Trait will use n% less lust then normal, while n is the same value as its dexterity stat.
Contrary to what it says it will only reduces the lust cost while mating. The actions of harvesting se-men and milk will not be affected as of this build (0.723.1 Alpha).

If a Nephelym Dexterity stat will exceed over 100 then it will no longer use lust while mating (tested and confirmed).

Commonly found on:
  • Formurian: Shark
  • Foxen: Vulpuss
  • Starfallen: Spore
4.2.15 Valuable
Value is increased by 35%.

Nephelym with that Trait can be selled for more Orgasium by the emissary. This Trait will increase the overall price of the Nephelym who is based on the stat points and the additional Traits.

I do not know what the calculation is for the value. But based on what I found out for a normal Nephelym without any Traits, the base price is all stat points from Strength to Dexterity added together then multiply by ±10.
Any additional Trait will increase the value by around 20% of the base price.

This is just a rough calculating method, if you are more fond with numbers then please be free to find out the real calculating method.

Commonly found on:
  • Sylvan: Slime
5. Special Traits
For Special Traits there must be met a certain condition so that they appear.
When they appear it can either be a good thing or a bad thing.

And with good thing I mean just a plain information with no sideeffects.

If it's a bad thing...yeah it's a bad thing, that will mostly decrease the value of the Nephelym.
5.1 Abomination
(WIP)
5.2 Atypical
Inherited an unusual size for its variant.

When someone is breeding two variants of different sizes, there is a small chance that the offspring will grow to a different size instead of its original variant size. If that is the case, then the Atypical Trait will appear.

As far as I could note the Atypical size is most of the time the average size of the parents. For Example: Breeding a Tiny Goblin (4ft) and a Huge Dragon (10ft) can get you a Normal Goblin or Dragon (6ft).
But that is only the most common thing that happened to me.
5.3 Gaudy
(WIP)
5.4 Hybrid
(WIP)
5.5 Sterile
(WIP)

II can understand why all the guides recommend just hacking the quest out in the save files. It's frustrating there is no way to be more precise or increase above 3 so the fall off might still be high enough.

One other thing of note. I take on the Avatar of a neph that is 8 or 10 foot in the wild and but mating still occurs in the rancher avatars method scheme. It would be really cool if I could change into an incubus and do what they do in the wild. Grab a succubus by the ankles, etc.

@TruLandragon
Yeah, old build, not to increase trait level and all you have ot release high level nephlem into the wild to increase the level of the wild gene pool. Yeah, as mentioned before SethTzeentach did a speedrun of the game to open all the cockblock gates, and actually goes over the math behind how that Wild XP is generated. But, you basically want to be releasing home bread nephlem that are also pregnant at the time of release with some other contributing factors i can't remember
TruLandragon Oct 2, 2023 @ 11:50pm
>The Trait Level can be increased by the Emissary for Orgasium. The Orgasium price will increase for every level by 500 starting at 500.

Am I missing this option? I clicked through every chat option she had and the only thing that opened a submenu was ascending a nephelym.
Or was this in an older build and it's just gone (for now?)
Turbotowns Oct 2, 2023 @ 6:22pm
Also, there's a motherly trait that pregnant females or futas sometimes gets, that boosts quite a few things.
Turbotowns Oct 2, 2023 @ 6:07pm
According to Seth's review of this game, some traits need to be UNLOCKED before Nephelym will spawn with them. If that's still a thing, including what needs to be unlocked and what the unlock conditions are, should also naturally be a part of this guide.
Kamen Z Jan 8, 2023 @ 7:12am
For those who wish to know, slender and buxom are most common on Foxen, nymphomaniac is common on
the horny monsters (elf, demon, etc), and hybrid is for hybrids (duh) such as Oni and Hellhound. Gaudy just dictates an odd color pallet and the inbred traits should be self explanatory.
