Shiver, 100% achievement guide & complete video walkthrough.

Notes.

Shiver has a total of 11 Steam achievements, of these 4 are missable, the remaining 7 story related achievement. All 11 of these achievements can be earned in a single playthrough taking around 20 mins.

Please note that to earn them all in a single playthrough you will be required to make a save and reload your game part way through as there are achievements relating to smoking and another for not not smoking during your playthrough. (The game has a built in hint system where if you smoke a cigarette it gives you a hint as to what you should do next*).

*A game mechanic more befitting the 1950's than the 21st century (and before you say anything, let me say, I'm a smoker with 27 years of lung damage, and I stand by my comment).

Even if you don't want to read this full guide, at least prep yourself by reading the details for the "Underground Rebel", "Chain-Smoker" and "I Quit" achievements relating to saving and reloading in the game, you also might want to read up on "Whack-a-mole" which is the games 4th missable achievement.

A couple of other points of note, number one, I had problems getting this game to run and ended up having to set the .exe to Win 8 compatibility and run as admin, doing this disabled the steam in-game overlay and as such I did not get any achievement notification pop-ups. If you too have this problem ensure to Alt+Tab to Windows to check that missable achievements have popped before proceeding.

Secondly, near the end of the game when trying to leave the radio room my game bugged, my cursor disappeared and I was unable to interact with anything. I managed to save my game by hitting the "Esc" key, I then quit the game and reloaded, thankfully this fixed the issue and I was able to continue.

Hopefully your playthrough will be slightly more stable than mine.

Achievement Guide.

The achievements listed below are in order of which I earned them during my playthrough.

	Welcome To Windy Oaks.	This is a story related achievement that pops when you crash your car near the start of the game. See video walkthrough part 1 @ 0:00 to 1:29 for further assistance.
	Zeus.	This is a story related achievement that pops when you turn the generator on (behind the visitor centre). See video walkthrough part 1 @ 2:24 to 4:52 for further assistance.
	Downward Spiral.	This is a story related achievement that pops when you go down the elevator in the mine. See video walkthrough part 1 @ 5:49 to 6:10 for further assistance.
	Underground Rebel.	***MISSABLE*** Before trying to earn this and the "Chain-smoker" achievements, save your game (in a separate file to the autosave). In the mine is a location with a no smoking sign (the tunnel just beyond the elevator with train tracks, a jackhammer and a traffic cone) save your game, move the mouse up to the top of the screen to access your inventory and then drag the lighter over to the pack of cigarettes to light one and earn this achievement. 	Chain-smoker.	***MISSABLE*** Straight after earning the "Underground Rebel" achievement proceed to light up another five cigarettes in a row by dragging the lighter over to the packet of cigarettes five times, one after the other to earn this achievement. As noted earlier if like me, you do not get in-game achievement pop-ups, make sure to Alt+Tab to Windows to check these two have popped before continuing. If they both have, load the save game you made earlier before proceeding. See video walkthrough part 1 @ 6:48 to 7:27 for further assistance.
	Whack-a-mole.	***MISSABLE*** In the room to the right of the tunnel where the smoking achievements were earned is a "Mort the Mole" statue, to earn the "Whack-a-mole" achievement, move the cursor to the top of the screen to open your inventory and drag the hatchet over Mort to smash the statue's head and earn this achievement. 	Clever Solution.	This is a story related achievement that pops when you use the thermite on the lock securing the door which is covered by yellow tape and then ignite it with the lighter. See video walkthrough part 1 @ 8:55 to 9:13 for further assistance.
	Fresh Air.	This is a story related achievement that pops when you exit the mine. See video walkthrough part 1 @ 9:25 to 11:34 for further assistance.
	Mayday.	This is a story related achievement that pops when you complete the radio puzzle (set the dials and frequency correctly and hit the power switch). See video walkthrough part 2 @ 0:00 to 1:41 for further assistance.
	Goodbye Windy Oaks.	This is the final story related achievement that pops upon completing the game.
	I Quit.	***MISSABLE*** This achievement is the reason for saving your game before earning the "Underground Rebel" and "Chain-smoker" achievements. To earn the "I Quit" achievement you must complete the game without smoking any cigarettes (done by dragging and dropping the lighter onto the pack of cigarettes in your inventory), excluding the one you are prompted to smoke at the start of the game while driving your car, before the crash. If you complete the game only having smoked that one cigarette, that you were prompted to do so this achievement will pop at the end of the game. If you followed this guide to earn the "Underground Rebel" and "Chain-smoker" achievements you would have saved your game before smoking any more cigarettes and then once those achievements were unlocked, you would then have loaded that save up, so that your remaining playthrough did not register those actions, allowing you to earn this achievement.
