Background
Campfire and Frostfall are two of the most downloaded and utilized survival-style mods ever made for Skyrim. Unfortunately, when installed for Skyrim Special Edition (64-bit) with SKSE 64, the visual meters do not show up on the screen.

This can be fixed with a patch, however, it requires the player to start a new game. The patch won't work on an existing save game file. Unless you follow this tutorial.

This short video tutorial will walk the player through the necessary steps to clean their save game file so that Campfire, Frostfall, and the new Campfire + Frostfall patch will all work.
Steps
This guide assumes you're already using Campfire & Frostfall, and you cannot see the meters.

  • Uncheck Campfire & Frostfall from your mod manager so they don't load
  • Start the game up, and load the save game you would like to fix
  • Make a manual save using the ~ key (type save [name_of_new_file] - call it something easy to find and remember, like frostfall_empty)
  • Download Fallrim Tools from Nexus
  • Install Java, per the Fallrim Tools page
  • Run ReSaver.exe
  • Find your save file frostfall_emptyand load it.
  • Click Remove unattached Instances
  • Click Remove undefined elements
  • Save this under a new name, ex: frostfall_clean
  • Install the Campfire + Frostfall Patch using your mod manager
  • Install the Papyruss Utils using your mod manager
  • Mark the checkboxes ON for Campfire and Frostfall, so they will load again in the game.
  • Start Skyrim. Find the frostfall_clean save game and load it
  • Start Frostfall from the MCM
  • Exit the menu and let Frostfall load fully
  • Go back into the MCM and turn the meters on and configure them however you like. They will now display correctly.

Congratulations, you have working Frostfall Meters in Skyrim Special Edition.
