This method is for those who do not want to suffer and spend time build and tuning Brutal Doom or multiplayer. If you want to quickly and easily install a mod and immediately start playing, and not juggle with different programs in an attempt to make friends with them, then this is what you need.

If you are an experienced user and want a wider functionality - perhaps this will do not like for you. But in any case, I will be glad to reviews and suggestions.
Benefits
  • One-click installation. Everything is ready to work, just unpack the archive into the folder with the game and play.

  • Support for playtime tracking and overlay (shift + tab) in Steam. Now your time spent in the game will always be counted, regardless of whether you play the original, Brutal Doom or multiplayer.

  • Convenient switching between game modes. When starting a game from Steam, there is now a window with a choice of mode: Brutal Doom, OpenGL version, original Unity Edition from Bethesda, classic DOS-version, singleplayerand multiplayer. There is support add-ons from John Romero: alternative map E1M4 and E1M8, as well as the 5 episode SI6IL.
Installation Instructions

  • 2. Install the game (the original Steam version is required, without mods. If you have already tried to install any mods, it is better to delete the folder and reinstall the game)

  • 3. Unpack the contents of the archive into the folder with the game, agreeing to replace the files (Steam\steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom)

  • 4. Launch the game from the Steam library if you want the game counter to work. (If you want to play without a counter - run Doom.exe from the folder with the game)

The launcher is universal and also supports Doom 2 and the No Rest for the Living add-on - for this unzip the same archive into the folder with Doom 2.
How to use
  • Brutal Doom - directly the mod itself.
  • Standart OpenGL - is a regular version of the game with minor improvements and fixes for modern computers, released by a community of fans.
  • Unity Edition - is a regular version of the game with minor improvements and fixes for modern computers, released by Bethesda on September 3, 2020.
  • Classic DOS - launch of the classic version of the 1993 year.
  • Alternate E1M4 and E1M8 - alternative versions of two maps of the first episode, released by John Romero in honor of the 20th anniversary of the game.
  • SI6IL (Episode 5) - a new fifth episode released by John Romero in honor of the 25th anniversary of the game.
Multiplayer
If everything is clear with the single-player mode, then the network game requires some clarifications. When you select the multiplayer item, the Doomseker program opens - these are server browser. You do not need to configure anything, everything is already prepared for work.

Please note that the playtime tracking also works in the server browser. Therefore, after completing the game, do not forget to turn off Doomseker.

Connection to the server

  • To connect to the server, double-click on any server you like. Missing files will be downloaded automatically to the Steam\steamapps\common\Ultimate Doom\base\zandronum\add

Creating a server

Pay attention to the fields highlighted in red. They are configured for proper performance, you do not need to touch them.

  • To create a server, click File - Create Game

  • In the Game Mode field, you can select the multiplayer game mode. The default is a cooperative.

  • In map field you will need to enter the name of the starting card, if you will not play from the beginning. You can also select a map from the list after creating a server.

  • Host Server button - confirm settings and create a server. Then you need switch to the list of servers, and at the very top your server appears - connect to it with a double click.

We will not tell of the rest of the settings, this instruction is designed for quick installation of the game without suffer. If you wish, you can find a description of the remaining settings on the network.
Technical information
This kit consists of:
  • Brutal Doom v 21.0.2 - our main item :)
  • Doom Metal Soundtrack Mod Volume 5 - changes the soundtrack in the game to re-recorded on modern equipment
  • Zandronum - OpenGL game port for modern computers, necessary to run mods and support multiplayer.
  • Doomseeker - server browser, allows you to create and search for network games.
  • Add-ons E1M4, E1M8, SI6IL from John Romero.
  • My personally creating a Launcher, which allows you to switch game modes with one click and allows Steam to count the time spent in the game.

This is awesome! TYSM for creating this! However, how do I get add-ons and Brutal Doom (2) to work? Do I copy the .wad files from the add folder? Because they aren't working by default.

Hey guys, i want to share my Brutal DOOM collection with all of you!

drive(DOT)google(DOT)com/file/d/158akJRREOL7c2o7FCdzdZsq_z7eOAAO0/view?usp=sharing
replace (DOT) with a .

This collection contains The Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, The Final Doom, Doom 2 No Rest for the living and Doom 2 master levels, all of them are compatible with Brutal DOOM mod! This collection also included Brutal Wolfenstein 3D and Brutal Doom 64!
Together with these games there is brutal doom v21 gold, tomtefar's extension, high quality textures pack for doom and brutal wolfenstein, and doom metal music mod volume 6!

All of these games can be quickly launched with SHORTCUTS that i have created, just make sure that you install both "GZDoom" and "Brutal Doom 64" specifically into your C:\Games , otherwise shortcuts won't work.
Also make sure that you read "Read me, gamer!.txt" document, which contains various advice on how to install everything and change settings for games for the most optimal experience!

Really grateful for this package and the tutorial. Doing it myself and with GZDoom was unsuccessful and other tutorials, which are outdated for most, also didn't work.
Now I can truely enjoy DOOM in a glorious way, Rip & Tear ! Thanks

Btw, i was kinda concerned about the link, not being used to russian cloud sites, but it's safe, in case anyone has doubts.
