Heretic: Shareware Version - Running on Windows 7 or Higher (GZDOOM)

In this Guide, I will show you how to Run the Shareware Version of Heretic on Newer Computers (Windows 7/8/10/Higher) using GZDOOM.

1. Source Port Installation

This Section will show you how to install GZDoom in your Heretic Folder.

1. Visit the GZDOOM Website
https://zdoom.org/downloads

2. Download the Shareware Episode of Heretic.

3. Purchase & Install Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders

4. Go to your folder where Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders is installed & create a new Folder called GZDOOM Heretic.

5. Extract the gzdoom-bin-4-2-0-Windows-x64 Files to your GZDOOM Heretic Folder

6. Copy the HERETIC1 WAD File into your GZDOOM Heretic Folder

7. Go to Add a Game on Steam.

8. Select GZDOOM and add it as a Non-Steam game.

9. Launch GZDOOM, Select Heretic Shareware & select Play GZDOOM.

10. Enjoy.

NOTE: The HERETIC1 WAD File is the Shareware Episode.
