Dark omens - Dark Tongue I, II, III Challanges - The complete guide

A full guide to the new map, Dark Omens - Dark Tongue challanges.

Dark Tongue 1

I'll keep this as simple as possible. I didn't find out any of it but I was really annoyed I couldn't find any guide to it in the guides section so I'm throwing it up. I miiiiiight however be the first one to clear Dark Tongues 3. Since it's really silly.

There are 10 runes on the map. Activate all of them and clear the map to get Dark Tongue 1 completed.

1-2 are in the first area you drop into, before you encounter the Beastman Ambush

3-5 are in the area right after the Ambush, before the next drop-off

6-7 are after the next drop-off, after you see the big vortex

8 is in the area where you have to cross a chasm over a toppled tree

9 is in the area where you have to jump over a small gap to continue to the next area. The rune is on the bottom of the gap

10 is in the big ruins area, somewhere on the right side of the zone, if you're facing forward from where you came in

Dark Tongue 2

This part requires you to activate the runes in a specific order and backtrack a little bit after the last one.

1. Run through the map like normal, activating the 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 8th Mysterious Rune. Once you get the 8th rune (The rune before you have to cross the burnt tree over the chasm) you should hear a ding.

2. From here backtrack to the second tome. There is a bolder at the back of this cave. Go up to it and push it out of the way.

3. On the left side of the base, in the water next to an impaled corpse is a key. Grab it.
(The key seems to move around the cave like other key spawns so you will just have to find it. It seems to always be around the edges of the cave.)

4. Go to the end of the level. Near the entrance to the crater is a locked chest. Use the key to open it up and grab the unique painting inside.

Dark Tongue 3

This part is REALLY, really silly. People were looking everywhere for hidden messages...

All it seems that you have to do is to take the key from the beastmen lair in DT2 and go to the end of the level, before jumping down to the meteor, unlock the chest, make sure to loot everything and don't use it until you've cleared the level.

(Update, this seems to have been a bug before, the art is suppose to give you DT3 complete, but reddit users had failed at the time, making sure the chest is empty seemed to have triggered the completion at the time. Read/post in the the comment section for clearity if needed.)

These challenges are so bugged. DT1 is still not done for me even after finding all of the runes multiple times. I've examined them all and double checking immediately that I indeed did examine the rune, I've even tried running close enough to make them light up and not examining them since the challenge says just to locate them. Nothing.

The first time DT2 had the key inside a rock on the right side of the cave. I was able to pick the key up, but I couldn't unlock the chest to get DT3. Second time the key was in the water just like stated in this guide and I finally got DT3 done.

Author, you are welcome and yes, I see that it is impossible to test it again once you've done, so let me help while I still have it fresh in my memory: Point 3 and 4 are redundant in Dark Tongue 2. You get the challenge the moment you enter the lair. And your point in Dark Tongue 3 about not using anything from the unlocked chest is redundant too. Of course you can use the consumables spawned in the chests. You get the challenge the moment you pick up the art scroll from it, which is impossible to use. If that reddit user didn't get it this way, then he had a bug.

Thanks for clearing that up Koala, I could only do this challange once after all so it's hard to test it out. The thing that left it uncertain is that the users on reddit had done what you describe and not managed to get the challange done. Therefore I speculated about the other reasons as to why it triggered or if it was just a bug at the time, picking up everything out of the chest seems to have registered the challange as complete at the time it was done.

I believe you have confused DT2 and DT3.
DT2 is given the moment you enter the lair.
DT3 is given for picking up the art scroll from the chest near the final area, which is unlocked by the key from the lair.
For the sake of clarity I believe it is better to update this guide with accurate information, otherwise it would serve to confuse some people.

The chest with the chains holds the painting and it is a unique item, not the consumables.
