Information Overview
This guide will show you a very simple way to install any kind of a mod into your game.
I'm using my SSD disk for modding, since these mods require fast disk reading speed.
You can use normal HDD as well. If your disk reading speed is slow: Lags will happen.
Lags can cause desync in cutscenes or overall slow loading times and or slowmotion.
Most computers in todays day and age won't experience any of those issues: Hurray.
The LEGO Games from Traveller's Tales are all using basically the very same engine.
And that means one simple thing: You can put mods into all of them with a simple trick.
We can thank the guys behind the QuickBMS tool and the .DAT files extractor for that.
If you have some mods of your own, you can post them in the comments of this guide.
I'm sure that there's a lot of fans around here who would love to see some new mods.
I will be showing you how to install a cool mod from a guy named 'Tiny Tsu Sandwich'.
The mod is called 'Lego LotR Character and DLC Mod' and it will add 24 characters.
Those new characters do include the ones that we're released only for the consoles.

List of new characters that you will receive by following this guide:
Prince Imrahil
Sméagol
Beregond
Theodred
Corsair Pirate
Farmer Maggot
Barrow-Wright
Boromir (Ghost)
Madril (Ranger)
Arwen Evenstar
Bilbo (Waistcoat)
Bilbo (Young)
Mini-Balrog
Gorfindel
Mahûd
Frodo (Mithril)
Frodo (No Shirt)
Faramir (Ranger)
Barliman Butterbur
Sauron (Second Age)
Captain of the Dead
Last Alliance Human Soldier
Last Alliance Elf Soldier
Faramir (Gondor Armor)
Step 1: Preparation
1.Crate a backup of your entire game folder. It's always better to have the backup.
Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\LEGO Lord of the Rings

2.Download the QuickBMS and the TTGames Script from their official page.
The link to their official page is: http://aluigi.altervista.org/quickbms.htm (Version 0.9.2) or this:
The link for the backup website: http://aluigi.zenhax.com/quickbms.htm (Version 0.9.2) or this:
https://web.archive.org/web/20190127023959/https://aluigi.altervista.org/papers/quickbms.zip

3.Put the downloaded stuff into a new folder and then open the quickbms.exe
After it's opened, it will want a BMS script from you, just select the ttgames.bms
Step 2: Extraction
1.After you have inserted the ttgames.bms, It will now want to extract an archive.
Select the GAME.DAT in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\LEGO Lord of the Rings

2.Now it will ask you to select the output folder. Extract it directly into your game folder.
Once again it's located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\LEGO Lord of the Rings

3.Wait until it's finished and then repeat the same process for the remaining five files.
You need to extract them all: GAME0.dat, GAME1.dat, GAME2.dat, GAME3.dat, GAME4.dat

4.If you see the error messege from the picture below, then follow these instructions:
It's simple, just press the "A" key on your keyboard and then press the "ENTER" key.

5.Delete all of the following files from your game folder in order to proceed:
GAME.dat GAME0.dat GAME1.dat GAME2.dat GAME3.dat GAME4.dat and __DISC__

6.You also need to delete the CHARTXT.FPK and that should be everything.
Now you can go ahead and download the mod that you want to use.
Step 3: Modding
1.Download the Lego LotR Character and DLC Mod from the following website:
https://modworkshop.net/mod/8?tab=downloads

2.Open the downloaded archive and extract the new files into your game folder.
Just put the files from the chars folder into your chars folder and stuff into stuff folder.

3.Everything should be now done and you should now try to play your game.
If it doesn't work, repeat the steps of this guide and use your backup game files.

If you cannot see 0.9.2 on provided sites, I found another backup site:
The 0.9.2 version: http://aluigi.zenhax.com/papers/quickbms_0.9.2.zip

I got this mod to work after renaming some of the mod files and folders in UPPERCASE. Check if the mod files match the ones in the game directory in terms of uppercase or lowercase. You know you got it right if it asks you to replace some files in the game directory. Hope this helps.

I still haven't gotten the mod to work, and I did everything correctly: deleted the right files, put the chars files in the chars folder, etc.
