Installation
This guide assumes that you're installing this game as a mod and have the full version of Quake installed on your computer already.

Before you begin. The copy of Quake steam installs does not have or play original music. As such the music for Xmen will also not play. A solution for this is to install the Ultimate Quake Patch found here in the Quake Steam Guides Section and play using the music from Quake. In fact I recommend doing this first before playing Xmen as it also adds features from the new engine enhancing the graphics.

Step 1. Download X-Men: The Ravages of Apocalypse and the sourcecode folder from the creators website below.

http://www.zerogravity.com.au/portfolio0601.php

or from here

http://www.liberatedgames.com/game.php?game_id=101

Step 2. Once you download the game unzip the Xmen mod to your quake directory located in a folder called common in the steam apps folder of your steam directory

For example - - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Quake

Unzipping the game there should create a folder simply named xmen.

For example - - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\quake\xmen

Step 3. Unzip the sourcecode folder to your recently created xmen directory replacing the progs.dat folder

Step 4. In order for the game to startup you will need to start up quake with the "-game modname" commandline. First right click the Quake icon in the steam library and choose properties. In the general tab click "set launch options". Once there type "-game xmen" without quotes and click okay.

Step 5. Launch Quake enjoy and please keep in mind the game is hard even on low dificulty settings. If you wish to disable the mod remove the "-game xmen" command line from the launch options.

Optional Step, Adding an X-men dedicated shortcut to Steam.
If you wish not to edit the Quake command line to switch to X-men you can add it as a non steam game by selecting the "Add a Non-Steam to my Library" under the Games tab or Library section of the client. Simply select the X-Men executable located in the xmen folder of your installed Quake directory and add it to steam.

For example - - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\quake\xmen

This should create a seperate launch icon for X-men. (be sure to select winquake on xmen launcher if you use a x64 windows).

Extra Info. The website PC Gamer recently published a review/retrospective detailing more of the game.

Conversion/Mod installed on a Windows 7 PC but was not completed, please be aware there may be bugs. Xmen is the property of Marvel. Please leave any comments or feedback below.

Links are a great source, its actually a lot easier to install now with the remaster, just gotta put the pak files in a specific folder and run it with console command.
But the game is frickin rough first level was tough, 2nd level is just being a jerk, cannonball pisses me off so much.

Follow this tutorial on how to edit the music in the Music section of this page (the link posted above is also in this part)

*If you hear quake music disable it by renaming the sound folder steamapps>common>Quake>id1 to 'soundOFF' Change it back to 'sound' when finished
